  1. There's a guy over on CACO selling a dd1008a for $65 shipped or BO but the surround has a hole in it.

Off topic: I just picked up (3) E8's too :yahoo:

lucky u man if i decide i wanna sell my xls i wanna try an go with 12 or 16 8's in a clam shell :)

  2. Sounding like poo is only one reason clipping is bad, Overheating is another.

The way I understand it is a good sine wave looks like rolling waves. A clipped signal is flat at the tops and bottom og the waves. In subs for example the cooling comes from the movement of the sub. Since your subs aer a mirror of your signal they are staying out and in a fraction of a second longer thus overheating.

As far as amps go it gets them hot as well, but I don't know exactly how.

If I'm wrong someone like James or sometone can call me names and set us straight :)

clipping is were if u look at the waves on the oscope when the wave on top an bottom are completely flat is when ur clipping there might be other reasons an i just cant think of them right now but if u go on youtube steve made a vid on how to set ur amp with a oscope

  3. first and fore most, stick with atleast 2 12s. my two level 4 12s are way louder than either of my level 4 15s ever got (the 15s were both 1 sub set-ups)

people like the idea of level 3s because they will get pretty loud. in your situation, you'd be running almost twice the rated rms power to the lvl 3s. nobody likes blown subs though, so i would stick with the level 4s just to be safe.

to answer the "poll question" i'd go with the 12s. the 15s would have more cone area, but a well built PORTED box (for the 12s) would be louder IMO.

ya i didnt think of it that way lol fail on my part i kno i said the lvl 3's but changed my mind lvl 4s

  4. hate to bump this with a This vs that question.

BUT while i was taking the browns to the superbowl today, i came up with another alternative.

two Lv3 15's in a sealed enclosure. sealed off facing the front.

it would be the same size as my current enclosure (4cubes)

Would they sound as 'loud' as two lv4 12's tuned to 32hz?

    I just made a poll.

    vote pleaseeeeee.

well it would def give u more cone area an from what i seen on here more cone = more air being pushed i would do the 15's
