  1. Sounds like a good alt id look for. My new plan..if u havent seen my other thread..is im going to use 10 10s..I wont need a beastful electrical due to im only putting about 1500-2000 watts in it but im still gonna want atleast a 200+ amp alt. A single one that can keep my volts up with 2 batteries (main and extra out back) at idle. Ill def hit you up when the time comes.
  2. Ah ic..my bad..Didnt bother to look it up lol. But yeah im still deciding. This build is more for the "wow" factor. I mean lets face it.. no matter what 8" subs..10" subs..12" subs..when im using 8-10 of them its gonna be loud. But which will turn more heads when they see what it is. Id like to use 8s but not sure wut to use. And i still want my system to be able to get down low and rumble. The 10 10s idea seems bullet proof in all aspects at this point..until i figure out how to properly brace the box. Maybe 8x Kicker l5 8" subs..I think they take around 300rms each. Little more cone area than normal 8s but still 8s and should be able to handle 2400 watts. Maybe get a AQ2200 Itd be fun when someone asks what kinda sound you have.. "Oh i got a few 10s in the back" ..Then just watch their face when they realize you have 10 of them.
  3. Hm maybe. I was looking for more of a higher cone area low wattage system. But i may give some diff 10s a thought. I will most likely be putting the 1500 to anything i get for now..but instead get some 10s that will handle say 2-2.5k later down the road. Def not putting 5000 watts in this truck..not ready for that kinda electricla
  4. I hope you didnt think i meant like a 4 page full covereage story about my truck lol.
  5. Well, i dont really wanna wall it especially when i can fit 10 10s..and still see out the rearview. Soon putting rims on the truck aswell..hopefully i can fit some 26s.. Theres gotta be a magazine that i can get in.
  6. Perfect and thank you. As long as its not over a 2 cubes..then i shuld be good. I basically have 2.2 cubes to fit a slot port and the bracing inside. If thats possible.
  7. Well ive got plenty of time..wont have the cash to complete it for atleast 2 months most likely..Maybe 1 if im lucky..But if all goes well..You'll be seeing a build log soon enuff Problem now is..how do i brace this. Also if any one wants to be nice and let me know how many cubes a 22x7" port at about 10-12" long will take up? The box is 12.2 before the port. For bracing i will double baffle the front..which will take up some more area..ive never used resin but i guess ill have to learn, and resin most of the inside if not all of it. And I guess some bolts.
  8. Alright here we go again. Couldnt fit the PVC ports so i went ahead with a slot port and boy is it huge. Before the port..the volume COUNTING the sub displacements..is 12.2 cubes. The port is 22"x7" for around 150ish sq inches of port. And the port would be around 10-12 inches long. Not sure how much space thatd take up but as long as it doesnt take up more than 2.2 cubes im good. Here it is. Im likin this one
  9. Oh ya i know the DD 8s get loud but this is more of a budget build and those DD8s get pricey..when ur buying 10.. For now..ill be using my old hifonics BX1500D ..at 1 ohm with the right electrical shuld get 1500 to em. But i will prob invest in a better more solid amp down the road. And just drew it out. The 10x 10s wont work. Ports wont fit on the top unless i do a slot port which might take up too much area.
  10. Well..i should be able to fit 10x 8s on the front with port up no prob..But i should also be able to put 8 10s on front and 2 on top and still have room for the port..I wont be 100% on the 10x10s till i draw it out tho. Only prob is i cant find many 8s id wanna use. The RE..Re10s seem nice..perfect wattage..they take 175wrms..id put 1500 to 10 of em = 150 each..and they only require .65-1 cube each. And i can get 10 of em for 475$ shipped!
  11. Eh ..odd numbers..no can do lmao. Maybe 10x 10s..8 on the face ..2 inverted on top ..one on each side of the top and port in the middle?
  12. Yah..And theres no way around the port issue with 12x 10s..I could still do 8 of them..and put the ports on top. Another option could be 10x 8s..I could fit them all on the front and put the port on top. Not sure what 8s i would use tho..maybe e8s if i culd find 10 of them..
  13. Thanks for the replies! Heres a quick visual of the box i designed for the 10s.. The volume after sub displacements but before port displacement is 12 cubes. The re10s require .65-1 cube each. This is in an ext cab truck..box goes to halfway up rear window..so still can see behind it. And its designed so the subs wont hit my seat and can still sit comfortably. This design has 8 on front and 4 on top..preferably having the top 4 inverted would be sweet..and 3x 6" pvc ports on each side of the box..equalling about 170 sq inches of port. My only concern with this is..theres only about a half inch on each side of the box before my DOOR appears lol..so the ports will be extremely close to the door not sure if thats bad. After bracing and port i think id be down close to 10 cubes. If i need i will make it a few inches taller..hell maybe even a wall if its for 12 10s..Point being i have the space..the bracing is gonna be a PAIN tho.
  14. It all depends. Im trying to keep it around 1500-2000. the 15s would be something like Type Rs..the 12s would be RE SRs probably..Maybe some RE10s. Or i wouldnt mind having 8x sundown e8s..4 on front mounted regular and 4 on top inverted. Either way there all gonna be getting around the same wattage. Its all a throwup at this point. Just not sure wut to do. I was sorta leaning away from the Type Rs..as 4 new 15s would cost me over 800$.any of the other setups would run about 350-400 for the subs. And this is still somewhat of a budget build plus having 4 inverted subs on top the box and 4 regular facing forward intrigues me Also..just did some calculations. If i get 12x RE10 subwoofers. I can put about 2000 watts to em safely..and still build an enclosure and have room to spair. Have 8 on the front and 4 inverted on the top..with ports on the side. 12x 10s..now were talkin. Only problem is i imagine that box would need an assload of braces.
  15. No matter wut the setup..i will be feeding them between 1500-2000 watts. I can fit all of these choices just not sure what I want. And I would think every choice would still have the wow factor. So...what would you do? I doubt many will choose the 8s but i figure most people think 8s cant sound good. Throw some E8s in there on 1500 watts..im sure i could turn heads. Just different.
  16. Still interested in the 15s..but.. How bout 8x RE10s each takes 175wrms and optimal space is 1 cu ported for each. As you can see i can EASILY fit 8 of these in a ported box... wire my amp to 1 ohm and put 1500wrms to them. I think it has potential. Can get 8 of these for like 340$ shipped. The only thing I dont like about this is the box will probably need a shitload of bracing..which i have no experience on.
  17. I like the second plan much better as Ive seen quite a few builds lately they use less wattage and more cone area and really put out the sound. By my calculations I can fit the 4x 15s..and it wouldnt be any diff seating wise than my box now since i would make the box slanted. Luckily my truck has alot of leg room so its still fairly comfortable. I would do 4x 12s but i wanna go all out and my friend has 4x 12s.. I think ill put 4x Type R 15s and put my 1500 amp on em for now..and slowly up the wattage to about 2-2.5 as my electrical gets better. Hopefully i dont blow my windshield out or something. I was thinking RE Srs..as they take 350 rms instead of 500 like the Type Rs..but nothing wrong with underpowering subs..and with the alpines i have room to grow with the wattage. Even if they are double the price. Just hooked up 2 of my 6x9s..way louder than I thought theyd be, its like my door speakers dont even exist. Does anyone know how I can quickly, easily, disconnect all my door speakers? If i cant hear them why have them drawing unwanted power. Gonna pickup 2 more 6x9s and hopefully if i can afford it a 600.4 amp for em.
  18. Hm..well been thinking..Maybe i dont want a solo x. I just realized that i can squeeze out 12+ cubes in my truck (before displacements) without even walling it. But id go halfway up the rear window if i had to which should net me about 14 or so cubes. Which sparked the idea of 4x 15" alpine type Rs...Ive had there 12s before (old and new) and i loved them. They got loud off low wattage and could take more if needed while still sounding good. So im thinking 4x 15s off a true 2000 watt mono amp (rockford, sundown etc) at 1 ohm. 200 amp alt, big battery up front and extra one out back..like 2x hc2400s or something, 4/0 wiring. I think this would work nicely..+ i havent seen too many ext cab trucks with 4x 15s in the cab. Needless to say i think even off 2000 watts these 15s should get a little loud, possibly even sound good doing it. Ill still be taking all the advice in this thread for the electrical but my sub decisions will prob change. But 4x 15s in a ext cab mini truck is sounding pretty G to me. Heres a box sketchup i did out of boredom. I put 5x 6" pvc ports in it..Since im not a skilled carpenter and figure a slot might take up more area in the box than id like over pvc (if it does anyways) and ease of use from pvc..Managed about 140 sq inch of port area if my calculations are correct. This box before any displacements is 14 cubes leaving a slight glance out my rear mirror. After subs box will be 13.5 cubes and i have no idea how much area 5x 6" pvc tubes takes up..I think they came out to be 28" tuned to 34 hz. Alpine recommends 2.25 cubes ported per 15 and i shuld be able to give them 2.5 ATLEAST after displacements. Ofc I will double baffle the front and put some L brackets in it..Maybe even resin some. Not sure i will cross that path when I get to it.
  19. If this is the case. Which i never planned on putting 5k to it anyways. I think i'll start off smaller at first..as in only putting 1000-2000 watts to it..then when i get the time/cash ill upgrade the wattage another 1000 or so. Id rather take my time and do it right than do it all in a hurry and not have it come out how it should. So ill put 1500 or so to it at first..get a bigger alt and better main battery with some 4/0 cable. Then add another 1500 or so along with possibly a second alt and 2 more batteries. That should work out good, just might take some time. And yes i play my music loud at idle alot so id like to be able to maintain my voltage at idle. And its going in an extended cab colorado (mini truck). Should break things once its done
  20. Ya im not the most knowledgable but i know the basics. Just learned that theres bigger wire than 1/0 so Imma get some 4/0. I have a old hifonix bx1500d right now..If its strappable i may just hook it up to the solo-x at 1 ohm then buy another later. Not sure tho at this point. Appreciate all the posts damn helpful. I chose 3000 becuz i figured 5000 would be a hellhole for cash and a system to handle..but it seems 3000 can be up there with it. Ive been doing skimpy builds for a while just wanted to go all out for once and be done with it. Looks like i got alot of research to do. But ive got time. And just for random note. Im not experienced by far but i can do all the wiring to the batteries, amps, speakers etc. So im not COMPLETELY retarded. I just need help with what to get..after ive got it i can take it from there. Would it be a good investment or a smart move to get say a 300 amp alt? Looking at my truck no way can i see 2 alts fitting in there. Id prefer to keep just 1 and get 2-3 batteries. Also if i was to get diff brand batteries..like say powermaster or kinetik for example..what sizes would be preferred if i was to have say..1 up front and 2 out back?
  21. Not doubting anyone..But im running 1000wrms and with 0 gauge wire and stock batt and alt..i have no dimming, no volt drop. On my old system my bass would dim the lights a little and a cap fixed it. First id suggest a big 3..that prob will take care of it
  22. Ah yes yes. Thanks for reminding me. I do need to to that.
  23. Alright, planning on a new build once I sell some stuff and get the cash..it will consist of the following. Going in a ext cab colorado. 18" Solo X Preferably like a rockford 3000 or sundown3000d at 1 ohm. 4x 6x9s with a 100x4 amp. (100rms to each) Now wut im wondering is what kinda electrical do I need to support this..I already have 0 gauge wiring. Will a 200 amp alternator and a yellow top as a main and a extra yellow top out back be enuff? Note: I havent bought any of the above items yet, so they can all be changed. Set on the solo x tho. Also my budget will be around 1500-2000$ for everything above..except the 6x9s and wiring.
  24. How many watts can this take daily safely? Also would you be interested in a video card trade + cash? I have a XFX geforce 8800gts 320mb xxx edition. Lmk
