  1. way too small...

I think youd be better off sealing them..

I cant seal them off box is 36wx16hx22d, they have to face different directions

    what brand are the subs?

4.3 cubes is about half the size that most 12s would work good in for 4 of them ported.

And I recommend facing them all the same way or you will have some adverse effects.

I would almost bet 2) 12s in 4.3 cubes ported facing the same way would perform better than 4) 12s facing opposite in a small airspace.

Kenwood POS $40 subs, its just something i want to play around with before i upgrade to something better, and before the answer comes in for save your money. The subs will be getting purchased anyway as my dad wants them for home audio when im done with them.

And again cant face them all the same way, i do agree though that they would perform much better in a larger box but it would be cool to see what they could do anyway.

    Maybe 3 12's instead of 4 hmmm

  2. i need to make a new box for my 12's, i currently have 2 W3011 12's in 2.6 cubes. Im pondering the idea of adding 2 more w3011's, totaling 4 in ~4.3 cubes after all displacements.

I know efficiency goes out the window but i dont value the car enough to wall the trunk off, and thats as big of box i can get into the trunk.

There would be 2 12's firing towards the trunk and 2 firing into the car along with 4 4in ports firing into the cabin

    So in short

    4 12's for $100

~4.3 cubes ported tuned to 35hz

    ~2200wrms

  3. In theory the magnet is impeding alot of air flow off the subs. The xl's motor is smaller and would allow the subs to breath in the box better. Or so I think... lol

As far as what kind of power I'm seeing it's between 8500-10k. MY box rise is low around 1.1 but definately could be better. How to shrink box rise? Shrink box interior. Put a 45 in test see if it comes down. If it works seal it in if it doesnt pull it out and try a diff size. Its alot of work but can be achieved. lol

Didnt think about the impedance of the motor, maybe a 5 spider high roll special in an xl? (i think XL have 4 spiders, correct me if im wrong)

  4. Did you ever think that maybe I was just poking fun at a good friend? The post was made all in fun. I guess you are the law around here so I will keep my joking with Clay to PM, MSN or phone call, Happy?

I may act like a jackass, but im not a total dumbass...

mms- The woooooofers effective mechanical mass in kilo grams.

fs- Driver free air resonance in hertz.

lin- is flow of the orig source signal without distorting..

PS: The Internet is serious business

Thank you i learned something new :give_rose:

  5. i fully understand and partially agree with what your saying but in the end...

the majority of users will see the seasoned people IE yourself, or Steve 2x or 3x the RMS on a unit and automatically think its gonna be fine to beat on all day like that...its that perception that people have thinking they can run 4k to a XL all day long np...

nowhere in this test will they take out of it that they can not do that daily, they will say well that was free air i can do more if its in a box.

If you go through the DC section i guarantee majority of the questions are "how much over RMS can i do on said speaker daily"

In no way am i trying to start an argument or discredit you in any way, i just feel everytime one of these videos or test pop up 50 more people assume that they can hella overpower their equipment without failure and then when it does nobody wants to step up and be real with them as to why it happened.

In a comp environment things are different and i feel people who arent in that environment need to be more informed by mostly the internet manus as to why they cannot run thier equipment daily at those levels.

hell on this very forum theres not 1 post explaining the basic common senses of why a sub can burp off 10k but not play music, yea its common sense but so is the reason 90 percent of woofers blow.

I still dont think your getting his point... The woofer is rated at 1500wrms because it will handle that amount of power for alot longer than it will 3000wrms. If you put 3000wrms to your XL every day all day i doubt it would live very long... however i bet you could run 1500wrms all day everyday and the sub would live. DC Audio has no idea what the customer is going to do to the speaker, I have actually seen DC subs used in bars and clubs. They get hammered on for hours on end. They follow this RMS rule because they know the woofer wont let them down, it will keep on going day in and day out. RMS is there for that reason, its the point where the manufacture feels they can guarantee the performance and half life of there item.

  6. At some point I may just try that. lol Next on the list is to step back one spider down to 5. See if that can help..... or maybe a mythical lvl 6 10 :spiteful:

i thought lvl 4 xls had the same soft parts as a lvl5, but a smaller motor, why would it be any louder with lvl4 xl's

have you ever thought about doing 2 12's, of course with the high roll thor special :hairtrick:

  7. i swear to god these guys wait around the corner until your not home for 5 minutes to drop a note on your door.

comcast one time told me the guy would be there between 8-noon. At 11 i had to run to the store, i wasnt gone 15 minutes. When i returned there was a note on the door saying he had showed at 11:05 waited for 5 minutes and left because no one was there...

  8. a pair of lvl 4 15's on 3k would be a great match... (another 1610D)

    or 1 lvl4XL 18 on 3k (another 1610D) would also be good

3k is defiantly pushing the limits of the XL but set the gains right and make sure that sub sonic filter is somewhere around 25hz and you should be good.

Point im trying to get at is the 1610D makes ~1500wrms and you already have one... where as the 2610 makes ~2500wrms and you dont have one...

the XL would do ok off 1500wrms but would want more

  9. Ok, so 200 dollars may not be a big deal to you, but it matters to me. And I dont think Rusty would like you speaking for his company as to weather or not I should be using his product.

I dont like the fact that its all a big fucking secret. I never said they werent legit either...

dude i dont know wtf your issue is but you need to stop...

Rusty gives you the price based on the cost of the shipping to your zipcode.

and to everyone else here... what part of "TEAM DC pricing is CONFIDENTIAL." dont you understand

  10. See I've been waiting and saving to do this build because i dont wanna just rush and buy subs then later think, well i should went with.....

I like DC and FI and all those but i wanna know if there are different non mainstream subs out there. I saw these on youtube ad looked at the site.

I didnt know bout the bankrupt thing though so thank you and i will look more into that.

    Anyone else have some input?

I'm looking for 2 15's that will handle 1500rms and sound clean. I know there are a ton of choices but the only subs i have owned are Memphis so i don't really know what most sound like.

First off Fi and DC arent main stream... go to any local store and ask if they have ever heard of such brands...

TC Sounds subs are legit im not going to lie, but as i said before, Revo's dont compare to nightshades, LVL4xls, or LVL5's
