HaHa one of my biggest passions is restoring classic cars and trucks. Me and my dad own a custom car shop up here in Michigan and i must say it is a lot of work if you don't have the right equipment but on the other hand if you do, It's is well worth the money. And as far as price i recently sold a 1946 chevy no frame and no drivetrain no bed. Just the cab shell and doghouse rust free locally for 1600 bucks. But i mean rust FREE good cab corners all the way to the headlight bezzles.
even a good grill. So i say give it a good once over and check out the problem spots, cab corners mostly, if all that seems like just surface rust, I say snag it.
And anybody who's says it's a waist of money and he should get a civic is crazy!!!!!!!..

150 amps at idle- The beauty of a large case conversion kit. It should power your system nicely providing you have a couple of good batteries to buffer out the current draw.

Desktop Dyno isnt loaded on this puter.. but i would be curious to see what the average RPM would be in high gear on the shaft in "X" vehicle...Then you could choose the corrsct pulley setup to get the most out put at you given RPM..
It would definitley be hit and miss if you didn't know what you were doing.. But if well planned i think it could be pretty effective ... not as a primary power source but just a little something extra for the battery bank.

IIRC that's a road racing trick; I guess it causes less parasitic power loss than it would at the motor.

AS you can see the alt. is mounted directly to the axle housing and rearend. Charge the batt. bank on the drive to the comp

Okay i have a probe and there's really isn't enough room for a dual alt. setup... But if i could run a dual pulley in the stock location and relocate the power streering fluid reservoir to clear up the area to the left of the engine.. Then mount a single pulley alt turned in the opposite direction ran 1:1 with the outside pulley slot on the dual alt pulley...(following me so far?) So i put some pics i hacked together let me know what you think... It would be the dual ran off the motor in the stock location and the single alt. ran off the dual alt. HMMMMMMM.. yellow square indicates the area in question... let me know what you think.
