Preppie summertime 80's look.
OP ( Ocean Pacific )corduroy shorts
Polo collared golf tee. The brighter the color the better. Turn up collar for extra 80's power.
Dockside shoes, no socks.
Get your Swatch watch.
A pair of Ray Bans. Stupid colored ones like the pairs posted above increase the 80's power.
Dont forget to moose your hair up into some weird doo.

If you do everything correctly you will be very happy.
-
Its what DC recommends and what I have had the best luck with as far as sounding good.
-
Actually would build around 6.5 to 7 cubes net for a pair of level 4 15's. Then calculate our port area accordingly. 9 cubes is to big.
At 6.5 cubes your around 78 - 91 sq in of port.
For 7 cubes around 84 - 98
I personally would build the smaller box.
-
Okay cool so 2 15's in a 9 cube box tuned to like 35? I want to make sure I have everything perfect before I buy them lol sorry. Whats the difference between tuning higher and lower? I want something to pound me in the chest and then some.
Personal preference.
I would tune at 34hz and keep your port area between 12-14 sq in per net cube. So you want between 108 and 126 sq inches of port area for a 9 cube net box.

Yea, Nate said on the startup it should be OK. With my triple 270XP setup I always started out around 15.3 but would settle in around 14.8 ish. On very cold winter days I had times where it just wouldnt drop below 15.1 no matter how hard I was wanging on the system. Thats why I talked to Nate.
Guess new Chevy owners better start buying D1400's
-
So if I got the 15's then i could optimize the box more and it would probly sound better since they have the amount of room they would need?
Yep. Subs in the right size box will preform better than subs in a box thats to small or to big. 9 cubes net for 2 18's is to small.
-
Okay cool and last question you don't think I could fit two 18's in there? They each would be getting about 4-5 cubic feet including the port? I was thinking I could fit them cuz the cutout diameter for the subs was only like 16 inches. What should I tune the box to?
I wouldnt recommend going below 5 cubes net per 18" sub. I did a quick look at the size available you posted and your around 9 cubes net after port.and sub displacement. Thats single baffled box with a 36hz tune. If you want to tune lower your going to have even less space. You cant include the port area in the available space. The space you need is the net volume. The area you have left after accounting for the port displacement, sub displacement and and any displacements for bracing, 45's or extra baffles.
You could tune anywhere around 34hz and have a pretty good daily box.

Why wouldnt you put any upgrades on th dc lvl 4's? I don't know very much about voice coils and spiders and such but wouldnt it be good to upgrade those or atleast get direct leads? lol sorry that I dont know much about what I am talking about.
For what your doing and the amount of power your running a stock Level 4 would be just fine. They sound awesome without and changes. Direct leads is more of a personal preference. Not necessary at all.
-
I talked to Nate at XS about charging over 15v and its not recommended. Anywhere in the 14v range is Ok just not over 15, especially for extended periods if time.
-
If that size for your box is as big as you can go then I would stick with 15's whether from TC or DC. Personally I wouldn't make any upgrades to the DC level 4's either. They are awesome subs right out of the box. Ascendant Audio Havoc's would be a good choice as well. If you going for a better sounding daily setup keep you port area around 12sq in per net cube. And your box volume around 8 cubic feet net for a pair of 15's.
That N4 would be the perfect amount of power for 2 Level 4's.
-
Are you going with 3.5 cubes net per sub just for space Tim? I would keep it around 4 cubes net per if you have the room. The good thing is the aeros will eat up a lot less internal cubes so you get a little more room to use in your box. I would also try for around 10 - 12 sq in of port per net cube. 2 6" is on the small side IMO. At 8 cubes net 2 8" ports would get you up around 12 sq in per net cube. Or try a single 10" port. That would get you almost 10 sq per net cube. With the smaller port areas your box will tend to be more musical in general.

Or win a raffle item
I wont be making any shows till my ride is on the road. Plus Im heading up to truck nationals in Carlisle Saturday. I plan on resting all day Sunday.

The low notes in the truck are sick. 150 @ 29hz is an awesome score. There are still a few things you need to finish up on that box and when you do its only going to get louder. One of my favorite vehicles to get a demo in at the local comps.
Love your setup Jimmy.

How long is the pre order going to be offered? Im going to need 2 of those packs to do the new minitruck. 20 sq will just barely do the floor and im hoping a second box will do the roof, doors and back wall. Any chance of getting a 2 for one deal?
Gonna order up a sheet of Heatwave too. Try and keep it as cool in the cab as possible.

I have a used 9887 with a temperamental CD player. Plays fine sometimes sometimes it gets stuck in a loop. No idea why. Everything else works fine. I used the Ipod all the time anyways so it didnt bother me. If your interested in it I would sell it. Going a different route with the new vehicle and dont need it anymore.

Well I bought me a new project and I could use some help.
Truck is a bagged 88 GMC S-15. V notched frame and a 4" body drop. SIngle Vlair 4500 pump and a 3.5 or 5 gal tank. Stock alternator up front and a single old Optima red top in the back. The electrical could use an upgrade asap.
First off im a total n00b when it comes to air rides and bagged setups. I have a lot to learn real quick.
My problem right now is with filling the bags and a slow leak in the passenger side. This truck has been sitting for a while so I expected to have some issues. I did get it up to ride height and drove it the 30 miles back to my house yesterday.
The slow fill issue. This is on all four corners. With the tank full it is difficult to get the bags to fully inflate. The partially fill, then stop filling. If I wait a min and hit the switch again they will inflate a little more. It takes several attempts and about 5 min to get it up to ride height. The rear seems a little low even when I do this. The dump valves work fine and will drop the truck real quick. Not sure if this is a valve issue or what. Also not sure how many PSI I should have in the tank. It has an external regulator attached to the tank.
I also have a slow leak on the passenger side. I probably need to go over the connections with some soapy water and see if I can find the problem. Havent dug deep enough into the truck to find all the valves yet. Thats this weeks project.
At some point I do plan on new pumps and tank. Right now I would just like to get the bags to fill quicker and completely in a single operation.
Heres a pict of the new project. Thats my Son and partner in crime next to the truck. Yes the rims are ugly. The wife loves them so they have to go asap

I clamped 5650 watts @ 3ohm from my 8k. That was after 3 seconds sustained and not a peak hold number on my meters.
-
Same with my 8K. Was bumping it daily no problem at 1.2 ohm. Sounded great and was awesome when I wanted to burp it. Waiting to put it in another vehicle now.
-
Rings I made for some 6.5 mids and 6.5 subs.

You need to host the file somewhere gally. I use Imageshack. Can also use photobucket or other online services. Then use the direct link from the hosted location as the image address.

DD6.5s for sale here 160 each with mounting rings
Yep their mine and are def for sale. I have heard one of the DDSW's in a SQ install. Was in a .5 cube net ported box tuned to 40hz. Firing forward under the dash on 200 watts. Sounded awesome and really set his front stage off nice. I was going to install mine in my doors in ported enclosures but that project never happened. Moved on to a different vehicle and these wont fit in the new one.

They are free when you buy the amp.
His prices are pretty reasonable. Hit him up at CACO.

I think it looks like the Batmobile. Just add a jet turbine to the trunk.
