  1. Examples:

    Active xover:

    Passive xover:

I just remember that active you can adjust and control and passive is normal fixed to a certain cut off frequency.

This is what i needed. I will be running a memphis eqp4 so i guess that will mean active. Thanks a bunch man.

I ask for help all the time, not afraid to do so

I'm also not afraid to use google either, how hard is it to type in "active xover passive xover" and click search? You would have thousands of hits in a fraction of a second and wouldn't have to come here asking a question that's been asked time and time again. You should have done a search here too and would have gotten your answer that way as well.

Did you even bother to click on the link I provided in my initial response or did diarrhea of the mouth overtake you?

No i read it but i wasn't getting what everyone was saying about active and passive. This is why i wanted more info on it. I just needed it broke down to the simplest form. Then i will learn all the lingo. Sorry about not exactly putting out there what i needed in the first place.

  2. ^^ this guy ha ha. I hope i don't see your ass asking for help. Wait im sure you know everything. You don't need help. This forum is here for this reason. I searched. Yes i did. Obviously i didn't find anything under the search results with your name on it. I forget YOU use GOOGLE!! "Ever heard of google"... ha ha your great. Thanks for the help man. You definitely wasted two minutes of your time quoting and responding to the post. Im sure google could use some customer service. Call them they may be hiring. You would be their number one candidate.

  3. you dont have to tune a dd that low. tune it to 35hz and it will play as low as you want .

I have been told the same thing by people around here that have been playing with dd or 6 or 7 years. Tune somewhere between 35-38hz and they will still play low. Put it in a 3.0cuft box after port and bracing. This is what i have heard a lot of people do. Main thing is getting everything together. Box, tuning, and power. But you have to think power after impedance rise. So a d2 at 1ohm might have a rise of 2.5 so your only really getting half the power out of your amp. kinda scary to think about. But its true. Anyways don't tune so low. Stick somewhere between 35-38hz range. You will be happy!

  4. thats so SWEET!! I really need the 2ohm set to give them the power they deserve! Ill gladly walk into my local audio store and hand him some cash for two sets! I can't wait!! Thanks boon for your reply. The store around here is of course closed sunday and monday so i wanted to learn a little bit about what i was going to be getting into before i went in there tomorrow! Thank you!

  5. haha even moms was dancing

His mom=awesomeness. I bet everyone wishes their parents were that cool.

    MILF FTW!

A little over the top i'd say but hey she didn't look bad! ha ha Definitely an awesome family!

Congrats man you got to meet a legend in car audio. Awesome vids!

Steve every time i see a video its never dull. I actually found the voltmeter up on the top of the windshield. I liked the location.

  6. very nice thats what i like to hear. Well if they are related in sound or build to a rainbow thats even better. I have been looking at rainbows, but LOVE dd's quality. I also got a great price from my local dealer. I like really loud and i plan on somewhere around 200-400 rms on power

  7. ok exactly what i needed to know i had a 2512 with around 600-800w in a 2.75 and it seemed to have to much space. So i think with a bigger motor a little smaller space, stiffer suspension, and the right port area and tuning it should be great! Thanks guys for your advice. If anyone else has been through this before and wants to comment, feel free!

  8. why would i go with a box so small? So more power can be applied? I don't really want to go over 1500 if i don't have to 2000 at most but around 1500. So could i use a box at 2.5 or 2.75 with that much power? I have people saying 3 and some saying 2-3 cubic feet. What should i do?

  9. I wanna know what size i amp to use for the dd. I have heard people saying 1500-3000. I want it for a daily setup in about 3 cubes tuned down low. I usually play my music for a few hours on end. usually the volume is jacked all the way up. I need as much help as i can get!

  10. I know you said different rca's. Do you mean a different set? Or just ran different. If you didn't try a different set try that. If not that try a straight power to your battery and see if you have noise. what about your wire from your alt to your battery is grounded good or power wire still good. Something funny seems to be going on. I would check all kind of stuff. Can a relay or fuse cause a static problem? Does the radio do this as long as its in the slot where it stays in the dash? Or is it outside the dash and in your hand or what? Im puzzled too! But ill try and help. Do you have a old 12 drill battery or 14v drill battery? Hook power and ground to that and check to see if you get noise.

  11. well i agree with you 100 percent. The box i have now isn't made the best it doesn't have 45s in the port or on any wall for that matter. Its not braced. Its just a box i threw together and i have been messing with. I need to go back through it and put the 45 in the port. And brace from side to side and see what i gain. I know it wont hurt. Do you think i should go ahead and redo the port 15x3 to make the actual sq. ft of the box match closer to the sq. inches of port? Its only 30 now and i get way to much noise during a real low note. Im going to build another box in the near future for for just to see what i can come up with. Yes it is in fact addicting! I am already thinking of giving this ole 1200d a rest that i have had for 7 years. Im thinking of getting something around 1500. Its just hard to give something up thats never let you down. Thanks again for putting time into your response and giving your opinion. Hope to see you around the forum.

  12. right now my sub is back and port is down. And its pretty loud! I have surprised a few people. So you think sub up port back would sound best? What about sub down port back? Or sub forward port back? I know its best for the port to have something to rebound off of. Im just trying to thing what would sound the best. I think either port front or back would be the best. I just need to see which one is best for getting loud and then which way would be best for the woofer. Down, back, front, or up.

  13. Thank you very much sir! I will look into doing that! I just hate having to drop my sq inches of port area. i really want it do be somewhere around 40-50 but i dunno if i have the space to make a 33 and above inches in length for my port. Thanks for being so kind as to give me some advice and some dimensions to actually go off of. I have a box now after sub and port its 2.77cu.ft. port is 3x10. It gets really loud but not a really nice low note. I get hella port noise and its only a dd2512. How will the dd9512 react to the same box?

  14. question.. Say my box is 2.75 cu.ft. after my port and sub its somewhere around 1.56cu.ft. So that means i only really have 1.56cu.ft. of airspace? also if i do my port 16.5x2.75x34 inches long im getting a tuning of 33hz?? Does that sound correct? That port just seems really long!
