  1. A member on another forum purchased a used Pioneer head unit from a seller on ebay. The seller claimed the unit to be in 100% working condition. This was not the case. On arrival the unit itself looked to be in good condition other than the wiring harness being nearly unusable as the wires were cut very short. A new wire harness was ordered but turned out to be of low quality. So using the original wire harness, the unit was installed. Everything on the unit worked BUT the CD player. The disc would spin up to speed and would play but would skip and cut out constantly. A cleaning disc was purchased and used to attempt to fix the issue. The cleaning disc didn't help. The seller was contacted and ONLY offered to split the cost of shipping to have the unit sent to a guy the "seller knew" that might be able to fix it. Since the seller noted in the pre-sale discription that the unit was in 100% working condition, it wasn't wrong to ask for a refund since clearly, the unit was not in 100% working condition. The seller then called and claimed that he/the buyer was out of luck and that he was only trying to "do him a favor.", which is ridiculous.

A claim was filed through ebay but ebay chose in the seller's favor which is a fail on ebay's part. And knowing a lot of us use ebay, I guess we can only warn each other of shady sellers as much as possible. So here's the sellers info...

This seller outright admitted that he was previously kicked off of ebay as a seller. But I guess ebay is really on top of that problem. haha.

So yeah, warn your friends about this seller.

    Thanks for reading.

  2. Nowhere did I say that material is the ONLY determining factor in cone strength.

    A quote from you...

The material isn't what makes the cone strong, it's the shape

You don't even know what you're posting, do you? And you call us mindless. That's worth a chuckle.

I stated several times that in order for a flat cone to be as strong as a concave paper cone, the flat cone will have to be made of a much stronger (and expensive material). There is no inherent downfall to using a flat cone itself, the problem lies in the CONE TO FORMER JOINT. I'VE SAID THIS MULTIPLE TIMES. Why don't you read this thread more closely.

No, you need go back and read the entire thread. So you can stop contradicting yourself.

The main point I've been stating (for the 100th time), is that there is NO BENEFIT to developing a flat cone. Same effective cone area, with weaker joints that, according to some, have been addressed. That's great. Still doesn't take away from the fact that this cone is more expensive to produce (thus making it more expensive to buy), and offers absolutely zero benefits.

No, your goal was and is to troll this forum.

Don't believe me? Then by all means, prove me wrong. It wouldn't be the first time that I've been proven wrong, and I have no problem with that.

Yeah, you're probably used to being proven wrong.

Don't come in here thinking that I'm hating on DC for no reason, because that's hardly the case. All you are doing is proving my point. I come in here to give some criticism and the DC fanboys all jump on my case.

Oh, so, your point in coming in here and posting in this thread wasn't about the subwoofer cone design, it was about criticising DC "fanboys." Yep, that's what a troll does.

It's one thing for people to appreciate a company. I appreciate lots of companies for the work they do and customer service they have. It's an entirely different thing for people to blindly follow companies without asking questions. I'm sorry that I haven't fallen in line with the rest of the mindless minion nuthuggers.

None of us blindly follow. DC Audio has earned our appreciation. We didn't just blindly give it. You are sadly mistaken.

But I guess I should have known better coming to a site where the owner could fart in a metal garbage can and everyone would say its the best sounding stereo they've ever heard.

You probably should've shared your opinion while being respectful. We're a sensible bunch of people that would gladly receive your opinion and respect it. But when you act like a troll, you get treated like one.

  3. Don't you guys remember the old grade school science trick where you stack books on eggs?

Which would be stronger... chicken eggs or carbon fiber eggs?

Concave is world's stronger than a flat cone. The material isn't what makes the cone strong, it's the shape.

So, a paper or plastic concave cone would be just as strong as a carbon fiber concave cone of the same dimensions? Given a stress test, which do you think would win?

My nut-hugging meter is through the roof in this thread. Rusty could take a dump and stamp a DC logo on it and you guys would be lining up all wanting a wiff.

Show us a DC product that isn't worth respect.
