As long as I can hold the Voltage from 13.6 to 14.1 do I still need to upgrade the Alt or battery or am I good. atleast until I add another amp?
-
Ok... I moved my ground on the battery from the Frame to the chassis (Shorter Run)and ran my 1/0 from Alt to Chassis and 6 ga from Alt to Battery with 80amp fuse(Temp until I get more 1/0). I went ahead and upgraded the wire from fuse box to bat with 6ga (Originally 10ga) and while I was at it I upgraded one more wire from ground on battery to headlight frame, there was one there that went to the battery to begin with it was like 12 gauge and I upgraded it to 6 gauge. With that said my dimming / Pulsating lights that I was having while driving is now completely gone. My Voltage at the battery before this upgrade was at 13.6v and when I was jamming the radio it would fluctuate 12.6 and back up to 13.6 Now it is at 14.1v and when jamming it will fluctuate from 13.6 to 14.1 So all in all.. nice little upgrade.. until I get more 1/0 Wire and another fuse to run from Alt to battery. Thanks for your help guys..

Now your ground on the firewall there .. is that a good ground point? I though when you ground to the Chassis that it meant to the frame is that correct?
-
One other question.. as you can see the Distribution block on the battery has a volt meter on it.. Now when I am at idle radio off it reads 13.6 When The AC is on and radio at full tilt it bounces from 13.6 to 12.6 but never lower then 12.6. My system in my sig.. what are your recommendation on possible ALT + Battery upgrades that will give me what I need for the system to be happy.

I have already grounded to Battery to Chassis with 2ga... I have not done a major investigation yet but where can you find the Ground that goes from Engine block to Chassis?
-
I have not done it yet because I did not want there to be a chance of messing up the fuse box.. It was strange because there is multiple wire running from Alt to fuse box. For right now this is just a factory Alt that puts out 135 amps. Now if I upgrade the Alt to a 200 or bigger will I have to add a second battery or not? Will a bigger Alt actually do damage to the battery and as far as that goes will a bigger Alt mess with the Fuse box?
-
Can I run a wire strait from Alternator to Battery? I ask this because the wires from my alternator go to fuse box then from fuse box to battery. Is it better to just wire from alt to Battery leaving the other wires intact? or do I have to upgrade Wire from Alt to fuse box, then Fuse Box to Battery?

Got My Sub Box Done

Yes.. all that was calculated in even the 2 x 4 bracing. -
OK.. Got the new box in and it is definitely hitting a lot lower.. actually seen my steering wheel and turn signals quiver for the first time. I cant really tell much difference in watching these videos but can really tell the difference sitting in the vehicle. Now of course some of the distortion you hear is not the speakers it is the camcorders inability to pick up the lower frequency's at high volume, it actually sound nice and clean in person. Here are the videos ZZ Top - My Heads in Mississippi with Rockford Fosgate Box ZZ Top - My Heads in Mississippi with My Custom Box JJ Fad - Super Sonic Rockford Fosgate Box / followed by my Custom Box 20hz and up The Gear Never mind the messy garage.. I have not cleaned up the mess I made yet.. was hotter then hell out today.. 90 deg, I was pouring sweat. So can you tell a difference or not? Take the poll

Got My Sub Box Done

Good Idea... the song that was giving me problem was ZZ Top - My Heads in Mississippi Was not getting the low hz in that song. I will do a before and after on this. Will have to do it outside the vehicle and at lower volume so it does not distort. -
Got My Sub Box Done

For future reference could you enplane to me how you get the emblem on your box in your avatar? I tried putting my name on this box I made by cutting it out with 1/2" cardboard and gluing it to the box before I carpeted it. Did not turn out so hot... If you were a blind man you could feel it but just hard to see. -
Got My Sub Box Done

Yea.. today is the day to test it out. Had a fan on on it last night blowing into the box with the other speaker hole closed with cardboard. Good air circulation really blowing out of the port hole..should be dried out and ready to go. I put a light in there to for a little heat. need to get some wire terminals today and a little more speaker wire. -
Well since I was unhappy with my pre built Rockford Fosgate box I decided to build a hopefully better one. I finally got it done, tried to take my time and do it right. There were some setbacks and a couple of re cuts to make it more square and tight fitting in the corners. I used plenty of wood glue and added a 2 x 4 for extra support between the subwoofers to keep it nice and firm with little flex. When it was all complete I also went over all the seams of the tube with liquid Nails. I used 3/4" MDF with 1 1/2" screws. And also finished up the carpeting of the box tonight... Took me about 12 hours to do this. (been a long time since I built box) Here are some pictures of the box... I will take better pictures tomorrow, I did not realize the cameras setting was set to low quality. Left Side of Box As it will sit in vehicle Full Side View port side Another Full View 2 x 4 bracing between Subs Top Down View Here is a view of the port inside Another 2x4 Brace pic Another 2x4 Brace pic Inside looking out Here are the specs Hopefully this will perform better then the custom one that fosgate makes. It said total volume was 4.29 but I figured the 2 x 4 brace in to the build that is not part of the original build so I guess it would drop it back to at least 4.2 which gives me 2.1cu ft per sub tuned at 32.76hz.

One last question.. before I start to build Rockford Fosgate Site has a recommended ported enclosure of 1.79 Rec. Vented Enclosure 1.79 cu. ft. (50.69 liters) If I make the enclosure 2.0cu.ft. Per sub will it have an adverse effect on the subs since it is not within specs.. or would 2.0 be alright. Or is it still all in the tuning?

I try not to push or pull on anything too hard.. it usually breaks. One draw back to power lifting. Broke a head bolt off in one of my cars before.. pain in the butt to have to drill it out and re-thread it. (before I knew about easy outs) The FI BTL sub magnet looks a lot bigger then a Sony Xplod sub.. At least the one I have sitting in my garage. I would love to get a FI BTL.. but that would require a lot more upgrades.... I happy with a little bump right now. eventually I would like to go to car shows again, those were always fun. and to get to see all the talent 1st hand was awesome.

I think I will build a box tomorrow then... I want that low end. Originally I thought I was not getting the low end because I did not have a power series sub.. that it had something to do with the size of the magnet on the sub... So is the size of the magnet on the sub kinda determine the RMS wattage? Excuse me if some of the questions seem stupid
