  1. the alternator runs but it doesn't charge the battery and when i disconnect the battery while the car is running the alternator shuts off. i've only learned that till my uncle who is a mechanic checked it out. anyways i'll be sending it back to you folks today. thanks a lot matt, i really appreciate your help. oh i forgot about that other pulley. i'll send that along with the alternator

  2. You need a Zero gauge cable running from the positive output stud from the alternator to the positive terminal of the battery.

You need a Zero gauge cable running from the negative stud on the alternator to the negative terminal of the battery.

The vehicle's stock plug plugs into the pigtail on the alternator.

That's it. You can leave your stock positve alternator wire hooked up the the output stud also, it really doesn't matter either way. Leave all your factory grounds in place.

Disconnect all the other batteries to simplify the situation for troubleshooting.

Place your front battery on a PROPER charger overnight, it should rest out around 13.0 Volts.

When you start the vehicle, take a handheld multimeter and measure the voltage at the positive and negative studs on the alternator. With the engine running, the voltage should come up from 13.0 volts (engine off) to 13.8 - 14.2 volts (engine on) Your voltage readings in either case should be almost exactly the same regardless if you measure them at the alternator, or at the battery. If they are different by more than a tenth of a volt, you have a bad connection poor cabling.

I did all of that. Charged battery overnight. i have two 0 gauge wires running to the alternator and the battery with all the stock wires in. i double checked and made sure everything was plugged in/.

My alternator isn't charging my batteries at all. my uncle is a mechanic and he tested it for me. while running the car he, disconnected the battery ( Negative Terminal) and the alt completly went off. he say's that's why my batteries were draining out alternator isn't working. I had to put back my stock denso alternator and now i'm running the big 3 with only one battery. it now charges the battery. tested at 12.8 to 13 (off) and 13.8 to 14.2. will you be able to fix my rhino 250A alternator? it's only been a month since i had the alternator installed in my car. thanks a lot!

  3. took my batteries off the charger and it was tested at 13.5 i put both into the car and warmed it up went driving a little. i then checked later then it was 12.73 then later after about an hour or two i checked again and went down to 12.43. what's wrong with this? there is one wire that isn't grounded from the car wire to the body other than that my mechman rhino alternator are all wired to the batteries. could it be the batteries have a defect or could it be the alternator or could be something to do with the wiring to my sound connection? it's only been a month since i haved both alternator and batteries inside the car. and i noticed that the lights still dim. could you please help me on this. this my big issue that i need to get fix because if it's not able to handle power to my car then i' plan on taking it out. i don't want my car to die out again. maybe i'll try recharging the batteries again? if i charge both batteries from the car do i take out all the other wires besides the wire that connects straigth to back battery or can i ust leave it all in??

  4. i'm still not sure wire i'm not supposed to use? on the instruction paper is on #4) connect 2 new cables(1/0 awg, not supplied) between the alternator posts and the battery posts, connecting the positive cable first and the negative post last. The original cables will not be used and should be covered with electrical tape and/or heat shrink tubing if available to prevent the cables from shorting against each other. what cables do i not use? right now i don't have the negative ground to the body because it can't reach but other than that i got every wire connected to the battery post and to the alternator except that negative ground wire that comes from the car that's supposed to be connected to the body?? i made sure all the wires were bolted down good.

  5. the first picture with the wire sticking up isn't connected i had put electric tape around it but i took it off so you guys could see it. everywire is connected except that. the reason for asking is because when i had put the alternator in firsst then when i put the batteries in they were tested at 12.5 a couple of days after driving it went up to 13.6 but it was connected the big 3 way. now that it's connnected the way it supposed to be. i'm not sure on the instruction sheet that came with the alternator it says that the orginal cables won't be used in the connection to the battery post??? i had the alternator and the batteries in for a month now and recently had a problem with my car shutting off on me. i had to get my towed home. when i tested the batteries it was at 10.4. i charged my batteries last night and my car started back up. the batteries drained so fast.

  6. just wondering if i have everything connected right? every wire that was connected previously from the stock alternator are all wired up to the rhino250A alternator and to the battery too. on the positive terminal of the battery it has two wires from the car and two 0 gauge wires (1 runs to the alternator & the other runs to the rear battery) on the negative terminal of the battery it has 2 wires from the car (1 of the wires aren't connected which is supposed to be connected the chasis and two 0guage wires (1 runs to the alternator and the other runs to the rear battery). I post a picture up once i figure out how to post it. thanks a lot

  7. Maybe your RCAs (idk what RCA you have), or maybe engine noise.

i got monster brand cables. it's being split off to one connection at the back of the cd deck.

i notice when i move the splitter towards the back of the deck it starts making that lound static humming sound and when i move it away it get's softer.

couple of days ago while listening to my sounds and driving at the same time my components went off on me. the subs were still going. i'm not sure i didn't really stoped and looked but i went to smell if anything was burnt and i didn't smell burnt. my car completely died out. so right now i'm charging the batteries. could it be the batteries being so low powered that it suddendly went off? it's wierd cause wouldn't the sub also shut off. unless a fuse burnt out. i try to see after the batteries are charge but does any one know any possiblities that may have shut off the components? i was told from the guy that installed my sound system that something was wrong with my rockfordt800-4 to try to send it back and get it fixed. it doessn't seem like it's the amp because i can't hear that funny sound coming out of the amp. i ust here it in the component speakers. i have two focal component sets (k3p) but only one set it is running. the max power is 400 watts is this amp too powerful? it doesn't seem like it sounds good as i accpected it to be as everyone says it is.

  8. i have a xspower 12v/16v IntelliCharger

if i charge a single d2400 how long should it take?

if i charge a single d2700 how long should it take?

if i charge both at the same time how long should it take?

Both batteries are sitting at 10.4.

Which way is better to charge?

Need to know so i can monitor the charge.

    D2400 battery

    Maximum Amps 2000

Ah 87 --------is this what i look at on the charger so it doesn't go over?

    d2700 battery

    Maximum Amps 2500

Ah 103 ------is this what i look at one the charger so it doesn't go over?

    Thanks again

  10. how do i get my alternator tested? with the battery charging deal/ do i charge one battery at a time or can i charge both the way it's in already in the car with 0guage wire connected to the other one? so, how long do i charge it for if it sits at 10.4? please let me know, i'll try to get my batteries up to what it was and if that doesn't work i'll do that alternator test. thanks again you guys i really appreciate all the help

  11. thanks a lot for the help guys! i had my batteries put in my car for about a month now. the day it was put in the car it read at 12.4 and a couple days after i tested it and it was 13.7. i have a 250A alternator i got from mechman. bad news my car completely died on me yesterday on the freeway. i have no idea what the problem is, so i called the guy that installed my sound system to ask him if there was anything to do with the install to cause the problem. he said no and doesn't know the cause of it. tested my batteries today and it showed 10.4 so, how long do i charge it for?

  12. i have a JVC CD/DVD Touch deck. the guy who installed my system said there was something wrong with the amp that was causing that noise but like when i have the key on the first click it's not making that funny noise. so, the amp is good right? he said i should upgrade my deck because of something with like a 2channel that they had to split the wires out? i have 3 250A Fuses.

    what i got so far

    1-13w7 sub

    1-1000 1v2 amp

    1-focal k3p

    1-t8004 amp

i'm going to put another set later.

i will take the blue tooth out but i have to see. i haven't taken a car apart before i don't wanna break any clips that can't go back together. do i take the whole dash out or do i take out ust the deck? circuit city installed it for me like 6-7 months ago.

  13. I just noticed something about the sound. when i turn the key on to acc the first click it doesn't make that funny sound but when i start the car it comes on. i haven't checked out the rca cables yet but i'll try that later today. i forgot something else i have a bluetooth but it was disconnected not completely though. the lights on the parrot bluetooth is still on. maybe that's another reason?

  14. i got my sounds installed yesterday and something's wrong. can someone tell me why my t8004 rockford amp is making a humming sound? the humming sound is soft from the back of the trunk but when you go inside the front you can hear it loud and clear on a low volume. when i turn the volume up i can rarely hear it but still it gets irritating. what would be the problem? the guy who installed it told me it was the amp and to contact the person i bought it from and to let em' know aboout the situation. i' will do that soon but could anyone tell me? i'm running ust one component set at total max power of 400watts on this amp for now i have another set but it will go in soon.
