Smaller box typically less impedence rise....so more power!!!!!
This answers another 1 of my questions! Thanks man!
-
k and part 2 of my question will that box be to much for 2 12's until my other 2 get here
Yes it will...
Try a bigger port and see what you net volume would be afterward...
-
the port area per foot says 5.72 squared. and i'm using a 2"x4" by 24" board just cuz its free and handy
You should try to stay between 12-16 square inches of port area per foot with that type of port
-
To calculate the 2x4, you could do height x width x length(in inches), go to onlineconversion.com and convert from cubic inches to cubic feet and input that number in the bracing displacement box in the calc...as for the port area, I wouldn't be able tell you if its enough since I'm on my phone right now(sorry), but there's a port area range on the calc that you should stay within...

Audiopulse- orion HCCA, iirc...

Bring on the "SA8 vs DC8" threads!haha!

probably 3M Super 77 if i had to guess or the second skin adhesive
I heard 3m 77 never fully dries..I use 3m 90, but juss wondering what others use...
-
That looks great! Came out looking clean as hell!
One question though: What type of glue do you use for the carpet?
-
I used to make the box as big as I could the woofer cause it sounded good on a lil bit of power...but after reading about different effects according to box size, i became a bit more concerned because i tend to overpower subs....
-
Thought so......
Starting to get confusing....
-
Makes sense....though I remember reading that it would be safer to have a smaller box if over-powering a sub...I guess not....
-
Like the title says, would you go with the biggest or smallest recommended enclosure for a sub, and why?
I know with a smaller box you could feed a sub more power, and I've heard that you could only give a sub it's recommended RMS in the biggest recommended box...
-
Man, one of my J's soles even came apart from the back part of the shoe!
-
tuned low?? depending how much port area he is talking about, the box would probably be tuned pretty high unless the port was ridiculously long to make up for the high amount of port area. which means the box itself would also have to be bigger
and by 16 he means sq inches per foot. and i say yes, i'd stay within 12-16 sq inches of port per foot unless you really know what you're doing when it comes to designing boxes
Thought so, just didn't know if he was asking about a specific box...
-
so you want to say under 16 rite.
???
Under 16 what?
-
Really peaky.....It will play higher frequencies as well as what the box is tuned to(most likely low...)
-
oh i see thx for the good info bro, one more little thing how would i calculate the displacement of the 45 degree corners?? well since you leave a gap behind it.
Pretend the gap isn't there....as if it were a solid piece...
And when calculating displacement, don't count the 45 in the port...

The "Skippy Stare" has been my favorite so far!lol!
-
I'd go with 8's cause people would be amazed at how loud 8's can actually get...that's just me though...
-
i'm gonna be bumpin this shit at stop lights blaring loud with the windows down
Lol! Reminds me of the time I was cruising around while bumping "jizz in my pants"!haha!
-
I see...so sub/port back it is!?....your welcome nitro...
-
In a trunk car I would either seal from the trunk(sub/port front) or the traditional trunk set up sub/port back...
-
Sure, why not..
Type of sub/s, car?
