  1. Thats cool:) Im looking at either going 2 15's or 2 18's (leaning towards lvl 4's as my amps are more closely matched with them rather than the lvl 4 xl)...btw wat size lvl 3 u getting? I was also playing with the idea of 4 lvl 3 15's but havent been able to find much info/reviews on them...let me know how it sounds and pics if u can swing it:)
  2. alritey cool:)...thnks for quick response time btw....i think ill get a lvl 4 with lvl 5 1 ohm coils to run at 2 ohms on my sundown 1200d to be more efficient and to make sure im not pounding the sub too hard...
  3. well been playing around with diff setups in my head and I keep wanting to try a sealed box even though its not recommended...Just curious why it isnt recommended? Is it because it wouldnt allow adequate air flow to the VC or is it more just that its output would be seriously damaged by being in a sealed box? Thanks in advance:)
  4. thinking on it ill thnk ill stick with 15's that way ill have a bit of playing room as far as space and positioning while having a good big box with plenty of room for them to breathe and room to tweak box size if need be:) and maybe just maybe if i cnt resist the temptation ill just order one lvl 5 18 and b done with it for good besides upgrading the amp/s like i planned on anyways lol but all goes well ill be placing my order within the next 2 weeks no matter which way i go:search:
  5. just preparing for the worst case scenario btw and wud like input;) not trying to be difficult or indecisive i personally love 18"s but im willing to settle for 15"s if the going gets tough:(
  6. LOL fair enuf one reason i asked bout 18's and 15's i wud like to avoid walling a car if at all possible even if it means back seats have to go:p just was curious if any1 has fit 18's in a regular 4 door car without too much trubble or tell me how hard it was to fit in say a camaro;) and when ur car is that small 2-4 cubes playing room means alot of diff:(
  7. right now a 93 towncar and im willing to take seats out :hairtrick: but 1st big repair it needs im going for new car (cud be tomorrow or cud be 2 yrs from now) hopefully a v6 suv (blazer or explorer) ...but as it is with everything depends on how much money i have when that moment comes and wat good deals r available...i know this is a very very vague question considering every aspect of the install plays a role but i guess mainly wat im trying to get at wud 2 18's sound good at their min box size at 5 cubes each after displacement or wud 2 15"s sound better at the same 5 cubes?
  8. well plans may change my buddies amp blew and i might be laoning a sundown to him (prolly indefinitely lol) so will have one left...but since im planning to upgrade l8a on anyways its no biggy...Ill end up buying one xl for now to try it out and play with boxes and tuning some now question is do i go with 15's or 18's...im planning on keeping this setup until subs blow and im forced to buy new ones so that means hopefully a car switch or 2 before i have to go sub shopping again....so ultimately are the 18's worth all the extra space and trubble they may cause l8a down the road with a smaller car? is the diff in output and lows that much? thanks again
  9. So if no amp upgrade no one would suugest xls? reason i ask is the lvl 4's r rated at 1000 watts rms and the xl's 1500 and my current amps put out rite at that halfway mark about...so was curious as to the reasons one would choose one over the other...how do the two compare between output and lows? sorry to be bothersome, but not being able to hear any dc subs beforehand I want to try and get as much input as I can. I know it mostly depends on the install, but trying to have the best bottom line possible for a good sq/spl setup and work my way up from there...Thanks!
  10. Oh and to clarify this will be mainly for daily listening and showing ppl how good dc is :hairtrick:...may will try and do comps l8a on but thats after more power and a lot of tweaking to my car and install as I'm still sort of a newbie:(
  11. Yeah...I will probaly upgrade to a 3000-4000 watt rms amp within the yr (fosgate t4000, sundown 3000d, or dc if I get enuf money:)), but thats not a definite as I'm paying thru college and it seems surprise set backs like popping up....The only problem I'm trying to avoid is buying a sub and having to upgrade later down the road and shelling out more money:( but thnks for input so far fast and friendly
  12. OK, I'm in the middle of building my 1st real planned out system. I just bought 2 sundown sae-1200d's (check ebay as a lot of them are listed BNIB if anyone is looking for fairly affordable amps in the 150-200 price range) so now I have to decide on what subs to buy. I was looking at lvl 4's or lvl4 xl's, but leaning to the xl's as I may upgrade to more power in the future...Thanks.
