  1. As of now, I'm just playing around with ideas...

I have no money right now, so I don't plan on actually building anything, anytime soon at least...

I would like it under the windows line.

I tend to look through my rear view quite a lot, and if its above the window line, it would bother me... haha

That should also answer the question about wall or no wall.

  2. Definitely worth it.

I have 4GB RAM (not quite as much as you, but still more than a "normal" user would...), and recognize a VERY noticeable difference between Vista and XP or 7.

In my experience with XP, Vista, and 7, I would rank them as follows:

    7, XP, Vista.

Think of 7 as a mix of Vista and XP... It has the looks of Vista, with the functionality and performance (and then some) of XP.

I would recommend 7, especially if your only options are Vista and 7.

  3. So, I've just been playing around with Google SketchUp since I know how to use it now...

And, I put in the maximum dimensions for a box in my Blazer (as calculated by some others on the forum...)

    Anyway, max dim: 38x36x17

38 between the wheels wells, 36 from seat to hatch, and 17 to window line...

Anyway, I just played around with a design for a box for 2 18"s...

I got the shape/design I want, but now I need you guys to help me with the technical stuff...

I have no idea how much air space 2 18"s would need, or any of that. If it matters, they would be DC LVL4 18" subs.

    Anyway, here's what I have:

    boxdim.png

Is there enough air space for them? (Or too much?)

If its not enough, I guess I'll just scratch it.

If you would like to redesign it to make it work, it would be much appreciated.

Here's the SketchUp file, if you want to help.

    Thanks!

also, if necessary, the 38x9x17 area could be closed off, for less air space, but again, I don't know how much they need...

  4. What are you converting from? (What file type)

    use Videora ipod converter.

Hold on, I'll get you an indepth tutorial in a sec.

It's not hard, you just have to change some settings.

    Here's the tutorial:

    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPo.../video-to-ipod/

And just click "Download" on the right side of that page to get Videora.

  5. :/

I was just talking to my brother, and he shot down all of my ideas...

    haa.

Anyway, I told him I would be building my own ported box in the future, and he said "Don't do ported, the boxes are twice as big, and cost more. And don't build your own, just buy a prefab sealed one, its just as loud and sounds the same too."

I told him that building my own ported one and tuning it would be way better, and he asked where I heard that, I said from one of the biggest car audio forums out there, pretty much dedicated to bass. And his response to that was "Oh, don't believe the stuff on the internet, trust me."

This is coming from my brother, who has never had experience with ported boxes or building boxes, so he doesn't actually KNOW what sounds better, his mind is more on the "Save time, sacrifice money if necessary."

I told him I would be putting DC audio subs in at some point, and he shot it down saying "Oh that's an off-brand, get something good like Kicker or JL."

Just thought I would put that out there. However, I still plan on building my own in the future with 2 (maybe 3 just to show him up...) 12" DCs, so don't worry.

Hell, maybe if I feel like showing him what sounds better, I'll make 4 15"s fit in it. Think I could fit 4 15"s in a Blazer?
