  1. I have a sundown 1200saz amp that has been used for about 3 months. It has very few scratches and looks brand new. I want to add cash on top of the trade for an amp that can push a little more such as a rockford 1500d. Also I am looking to buy this weekend!! thanks, Patrick
  2. I never do. I only did it for the test. I got dimming with half volume and on some songs lower.
  3. Alright here we go after checking voltage with the DMM. At start up I am getting 14.1 to 14.2 volts. once heated up it rest at about 13.89. I used the same song and just replayed to get results. Throw it up by lil jon The first results are with high beams and ac all the way up. Battery:13.8 when ac compressor turns on it drops to 13.4 then quickly gets back to 13.8 Alt: Same as above Amp: Same also but seemed to drop to 13.3 some times. Results with volume a little under 3/4 the way. Battery: rest at 13.89 drops to 13.1 to 13.2 Alt: same as above Amp:13.89 drops to 13.0 to 13.2 Results with volume at a little above 3/4 volume. Battery:13.89 drops to 12.5 to 12.7 Alt: Same as above Amp: same also!! Full tilt=instant protection mode on the amp and voltage near 12.0
  4. Yeah I definetly will let you know. And hopefully it will help out a lot of people. I messed around with some things yesterday but I didn't have time to test the voltage drop around different points. At this point I still have no clue what it is so... Oh and dugee81 I was told that it would just help to have another run of ground so I did it to see if it would fix my problem. (did not help) I am hopping tomorrow I can get some time to work on things and hopefully figure this thing out.
  5. Yes at the moment it is my only battery and all my power/ground wires are 1/0. Also my gain setting is a little under 3/4. I have a ground going from the battery and from the alternator. So 2 total. Also I have the additional factory ground and a 1/0 ground from the frame to the engine. How would I check the wiring for voltage drop? Rob ill be pm'ing you in just a second. Thanks for the reply!!!
  6. I believe Villa Rica is about 2hrs away. Yeah I definetly might look into that. My voltage sits around 13.8 to 14.0 depending on temp. At idle it sits at 13.5. Oh also my voltage meter is connected to the amp but using a DMM I looked at the battery and it was very similar. Some of the drop into the mid 12s at idle and at idle my lights will sometimes flicker so much they almost seem like I tunrned them off then back on really fast.
  7. Ok first of this entire problem has been going on ever since I have had my system. Ok lets see where do I start!! I have a really crazy voltage problem that some people (not naming) said is normal for my setup. Some reason it is hard to believe that. I am having this problem in my 2004 Nissan Armada. Ok so I have a sundown 1200saz amp running a fi bl 15 at 1ohm. For electrical I have the big 3 and power/ground wires in 0g. I am running a DC power 275amp Alt and an Xs power d5100r battery. My basic problem is that off 1200rms my voltage drops to about 12.9 and sometimes lower. Even on very low volume my lights will flicker. The crap is very annoying. I need opinions on what this could possibly be. I checked all grounds and power wires. I also checked belt slippage. Oh and at idle the voltage drops below 12.9 and even at 1500 to 2000 rpm my lights will still flicker but voltage does hold better. I have no clue what it could be but I am just not fallen for it being normal with 1200rms. I could understand if I had like 2000rms or more!!! I really need the help and all of it will be well appreciated. I have ignored it over the past couple months but I need to get this fixed...You will all be loved Thanks, Patrick
  8. Ok just got the big 4 done including the new dc power 275 amp alt installed. Im still getting pretty bad voltage drop (lights flicker, amp cuts out very often, etc). I completely redid the whole system to make sure it was right. Car audio is a pain for me. You spend money to do it right and it still doesn't work right. Any suggestiones would be greatly appreciated!!
  9. Pixs are coming. I gotta a lot of work tomorrow and hopefully get my baby beatin again. Then I am going to plan my next build so this DC power can really be put to the test : )
  10. Yeah I thought it would support it also. So I am doing the big three in 1/0 and then I am running all new terminals. Also I am grounding the amp to a better spot. The old spot looks kinda crappy so... Also I just recieved my DC power 275 amp alt. Mainly for my future system. So I should see no drop after all this....
  11. alright will do. I appreciate the responses. Thanks
  12. Yeah thats what I was thinking. But I read up on the autozone test don't work so I may just drop thr money on DI alt.
  13. So how do all these people run over 1500watts with stock alt. with not nearly as much drop that I am getting? Yeah HO alternator for the armada is $500. That sucks
  14. So I have a Nissan Armada with stock alt with a xs power d5100r battery as my main supply. I have a sundown audio sae 1200 amp powering a 15 fi bl. Im running 4 gauge wire. The gain is a little over half way up. Now this is where my problem is. When I turn the bass up my voltage drops tremendously fast and then the amp shuts off or at least the sub cuts out for about 5seconds. While this is going on the protection light blinks when bass hits (not real bright). My lights, when on, almost go completely out. Im fixing to do the big 3 with 1/0 wire but I just don't believe thats going to fix my problem. My last setup before was a RFt1 10 and an Alpine type R with a RF t3002 amp rated at 250x2. This setup actually almost out beats the Fi with 1200 rms with very little light dimming. Any ideas what could be my problem? Also the car is cranked while this is happening.
