  1. it was scketchy sounding. like in and out id have to move the cable to get anything to come out.

im not blaming the amp for that.

i basically cut out the 4 channel and used the subs amp by itself so i plan on switching out the 4 channels and testing them while i try to get this repared

  2. If you used a Ipod connected straight to the amp and the noise went away then it has to be (1) Rca's did you use new one with the new deck... (2) any eq's, crossover's, or anything like that..

when i plugged up the rcas for the ipod adapter it went away yeah.. but it wouldnt play the music properly.

and no theres no crossovers its all using the amp.

ill try a new pair of rcas on the new deck tomorrow and see what happens. i dont think it will change much.

Basically the signal runs like this..

HU>4channel>subs amp. all using the line in and out features.

  3. Get a flash tuner like Teardrop said. Plugs into the OBD plug and relashes the computer. SCT and Diablo are good and you can get tunes for either one from may different place. They email the tune to you, you download it to the flash tuner, then download to the car. You can also change parameters manually if you know what you're doing.

okay well this is a problem. my OBD plug does not work. i have no earthly idea why. but ive plugged up a modus and get no readings whatsoever. i was trying to figure out which o2 sensor went bad and couldnt get any codes.

    EDIT: its a 2000 Ford F150 4.2 V6

Usuall the only reason your DLC wont work is cause you have a bad fuse that is not sending power down to it. Just look for the blown fuse and it should power up

ive looked at all my fuses several times and all of them are still working

  4. the 175.4 from DC

    or the 100.4 from sundown.

    4x90 from AQ

    those are all pretty good

I was looking at the aq amp since it'll match the 2200 from them. I'll check out the other two. Thanks.

sundown used to have a 200.4 as well but youd have to find one used.

I really like the dc 175.4. How would I go about getting a price estimate? Would I have to contact them because the closest dealer is like 3 hours away from me?

just go to the dealers list on the DC section of the forum. you can Pm them and they can get you quotes

  5. Wrap a wire around the outer casing of the RCA's on the deck and attach it to the chassis of the deck.

huh! never knew that im gonna have to try that some time....will it work to get ride of the dreaded cop car noise?(the engine whine in the speakers)and what are the advantage's of doin this?

    and thanks 4 explaining :good:

yes i tried that yesterday with no luck

  6. it could have damaged equitment, but it could also be the install, as to where u moved the stuff

a guy i kno said the only way he could get rid of noise in a system he was working on was to mount the amp upside down, it was wierd but worked

u could unhook everything, and lay it out and test it where everythings not close to a battery/power wires and see if its just interference causing your problem

i dunno what else u could check right off hand, if it was the output rca on teh amp it could be bad but i dunno

do u have 1 rca going from a mids n highs amp and then out to a sub amp threw the amps preouts?

try to bypass it to see if that helps

hope u get it fixed :drinks:

ill do some testing tomorrow. and yes i did use 1 rca from HU to 4channel. then rca from 4 channel to subs amp. ill go to radio shack and try to buy that ipod rca thing and see what happens.

my deck is an alpine 9856 if that helps. its old as dirt but has been pretty reliable and had great music quality. it was like 200 when i first bought it.

  7. also make sure the Rcas are not near any power wires...and what is your amp mounted 2? if the body makes a ground the make funny noise's ...hope its nothing expensive ...good luck man

no it was working correctly before any of this happened. so its got to be the deck or amp. which are both stupid expensive

yea it may have been working...but you just moved everything around right? you could have snagged a rca or moved it and got a noise...or be grounding that amp....i just sparked one of my rcas the other day and my stuff still sounds good...not saying u didnt fudge any thing up ...just trying to help you make sure to check everything before you spend money...i thought i was the only 1 that had done the spark the rca thing tho...lol

oh. well its mounted on wood. and the rcas.....damn i just remembered the ones that sparked were on the output end of my amp.

  8. also make sure the Rcas are not near any power wires...and what is your amp mounted 2? if the body makes a ground the make funny noise's ...hope its nothing expensive ...good luck man

no it was working correctly before any of this happened. so its got to be the deck or amp. which are both stupid expensive

  9. one question, why is the battery so close to the rcas in the first place? lol

but ya, what ray said, prolly shorted out the rcas on the deck, would this effect speaker level outputs as well or no?

might can keep deck for speaker level outputs and then to rcas if amps are still good till he gets the pioneer

okay.. well i had to rotate the amp to get all the brackets mounted. because on the MB quart the mounts are plastic.. and i guess they started cracking and the way it was mounted i could only get 3 of the 4 brackets touching the wood. so today i moved everything over and that was basically the only way i could mount it. until i start my new build i wasnt going to build amp racks.

not one of my smartest moments.. but oh well.

  10. i have an alpine HU i havent been able to get the pioneer yet. sorry bout that. and the RCA's arched cause i hit it with an allen key when putting my battery on. so battery ached to the rca. i guess i should have said that first. and ill try to use the ipod through the rca's and see how that goes.

  11. was doing some stuff tonight on the truck. and i had to reposition my mids and highs amp.

anyways. was putting stuff back together and the RCA's arched so now i have a solid tone playing in my truck. through my whole system.

took out the input rcas(ones that sparked) then it goes away. took out the output rca's and subs stop playing the noise.

so i tried some new rcas and it still does it.

    any ideas?

  12. Nice results bro. Like I posted the other day this amp is a beast. On ONE Odyssey 1750t with the CAR OFF Rusty and I clamped over 5400w @ 1.3ohm (.5 nominal) on 10.4v... Which is excellent. Once I get my rise down my goal is 6k in my Street A setup. I didn't get why so many people questioned this amp on your first test. Maybe it being a 2 channel amp is confusing some people lol. It is a beast :D

I love the way it is performing in the van. 18s arent exactly the best subs to be using to get big power from the amp but when the van puts up this number sealed up at 25hz I am very happy.

With higher voltage I could see this amP doing 13-14k. I dont have the electrical to keep the voltage high enough to get those numbers.

Do you have 1 or 2 alts doing the 14v batterys?I was going to get the 12k then saw 1st post results and decided against now these look promising. I have 1020amps of alt and 6 d1400s I should be fine with voltage. I only drop .2tenths of a volt full tilt with 10k + clamped

Only 1 350a alt charging the 1400s. Key with the 12k is that you cannot have your voltage over 16.0 or you risk damaging the amp. It should just protect but im not gonna find out. Thats why i backed my voltage down to 15.4 for the test. If you were to start at 15.8 and only drop to 15.6 I think you could get 14k+ from the 12k with a low reactive ohm load.

im diggin the 150 at 25hz id love to have that haha.
