  3. I got 9.41 feet for 30hz tuning.

yeah your right..idk where i got 8.56 thanks for catching that.

but im still tryin to figure out shat sd to use

there is no sd issue. if the company states the sd of the subwoofer, trust that it is correct. if you have any concern that it is not, contact the company in a professional and courteous manner asking them about their figures. but the way a sub is shaped and considering the shape of the dustcap too, i see how the figure is not the same as a flat surface.

i figured the sd on DC was correct. but as IH8 punk said that there was no way that a single 12 needed 184sqin of port i just wanted to make sure that i wasnt missing something.

so other than the length of the overall port that was fixed is everything else looking alright?

as long as the conversion from cm^2 to inches^2 was accurate, then yes. for 184 sq. inches of port area tuned to 30hz as a 1/4 wave, then yes. i will double check the conversion from cm to inches.

i used 2.54 as the conversion.

  5. if your running a ford gas engine the best tuner is a gryphon which is basically a edge tuner on crack like i said before, thanks clean sierra i wish i wouldnt forget to take pictures half the time but ive built up so many diesel engines thats what got my started with fords. and there is nothing wrong with adding more power to your ford its not gonna break, its not gonna be found on the road dead, people who say that shit are stupid, if you dont do the mod the right way or drive it like a jack ass it will in example if you have a diesel and you have a CAI and just a tuner your EGTS are gonna be through the roof and your gonna blow your headstuds unless you keep an eye on it and make sure it dosnt go above 1200 degrees for too long, easy fix for that throw and exhaust on there it cuts EGTS down alot (i know were not talking diesels here just giving you an example) my truck only has mild performance upgrades, weights over 9k pounds with my stereo and still runs high 6 from 0-60 you may say hey thats not that great, but i can and have towed over 28.000 pounds with a quad in the back of my truck too while slappin my music at 150 db so that about sums it up.

so either get a edge or just go strait for it and get a gryphon, that allows you to throw custom tunes on there and they cost 30 bucks each and make a HUGE difference because the guy who does it, while he is very behind and it takes time (its still very worth it) he does it to your driving style, and instead of 93 octane (who the fuck uses that anyway were in a recession and all wanna use the money on our stereo) and will build the tune to if you have a custom exhaust or if you have a custom cold air intake, or twin electric fans like me also and make it work so your getting the most power at the lowest gas level. ALSO dont forget to get the 3 dollar bottle of fuel injector cleaner spend a couple bucks more and get the super concentrated one and do it 3 times back to back after you get your tuner it makes a big difference but dont put it in till your tank is empty, then poor in the cleaner and then fill up so its all mixed in nicely, also will eventually increase mpg and give you a bit more power, but only do it 3 times after your tuner.

thanks man thats pretty informative. ill definitely be hittting you up with questions when i start fixing everything back and getting an income again.

  6. are you doing an 8th wave?

because if you are trying a quarter wave your length tunes to 65hz

and the sd of a 12 is no where near the 184 sq inches of port you have

thats what the factory said. as well as the DC website. except theirs was 494sqcm

and i was supposed to do 1/4 wave. i did what that foreverbumpin guy said to do. divide 1130 by the frequency desired so 1130/30

then divide that by 4 for quarter wave to get 8.56Ft.. sorry i didnt mean to type 4.3Ft

  7. Alright thank you. The FS on the alpine is close to 28hz buying tuning the box to 30hz with 180sqin of port. The sd of the alpine type r 12 is 480sqin.

Port dimensions are interior measurements at 8hx23wx4.3ft long.

    Does that seem about right?

This is my first attempt at a tline.

  8. i was reading forever bumpins tutorial on tlines.

he says to find the SD/cone area of the sub to measure the outside of the surround across. say 11.5 inches. then divide by two to get radius and do R^2(3.14).

i was looking at DC's website and they say the SD of the level 3 12 is 494cm^2. when the formula that he gave only comes out to 103.82 in^2 which is only 263.7 cm^2.

so what measurement should i use? the one from the DC website? or what i just calculated.

i wanted to use my Alpine type r in a tLine just for practice. but i wanted to make one for the DC since they're numbers were posted on the website. im just trying to understand the concept before i waste time a money on a box like this.
