With all due respect to your friends, they more than likely don't know much about an actual system. D Train is right, there is no such thing as a dumb question, if you are open to others comments we will help you achieve your goals
cheers
i have this deep down feeling that im corrupting this kid with my avi

Stetsom 2K6??
hey man if he doesnt buy it can you pm me a price. as well as power ratings.
sorry for thread jack.
-
well im not suggesting that you go out and buy a bunch of power acoustik stuff. im just merely saying that most brands have good and bad merchandise.
and im not trying to insult your friends, but im sure you would be better off not listening to their advice. they probably have little to no experience with real sound systems and extreme bass. i would say that if you have any question, EVEN if its a dumb one you should ask it on here. people will give you advice and most often than not give you constructive criticism.
most of the people on here are not going to say "your a dumbass for asking such a noob question" or anything of that sort. but they will correct you on things you may say that could be wrong.

That sounds like a nice little install man, But here's your first lesson. Stay away from Boss, Dual, Power Acoustik, Pyle, Pyramid, and some other budget brands. Not trying to rag on your equipment in the slightest, just giving a bit of advice
hey man my power acoustik 4 channel is a champ haha. may not be a super heavy weight boxer but it sure aint no walter weight.
but YES i admit that is the general rule. but i wouldnt go so much as stay away from them but i would say dont expect them to be amazing. most every company has different equipment that is good and some that is crap. but since you are learning i would suggest that you post whatever you are looking into buying on here first. many people have probably either used or had some sort of experience with the equipment. it will help you spend your money wiser. because music is truely a money pit, but worth it if you do it right

I personally say do it right the first time... Get the better cable because if and when you decide to upgrade you are going to want better wiring.. OFC can also handle more amps
yeah i was thinking that maybe in the future i would upgrade because its been a year of slowly collecting the stuff i need to start it. so by the time i want to upgrade even more i figured id have the extra money. i dont see me getting anything more than the 2200 any time within the next couple years.
i agree 100% with your statement but i just want to make sure that with this set up i wont have any noticable changes if i used the kca over OFC
Look at mechmans website he's bow selling shok and I think if you email the email in the thread about it they have a SMD price for te OFC spools
holy cow. 184.. how much cheaper do you think he would go.. i doubt if i can get anything better than the kca for <130 range that ill be able to afford it

no there's a difference im just to lazy to look up what the real difference is.
one is copper clad aluminum and the other is 100% copper. but the Kca cables are a little larger to offset the difference. thats what i heard anyways

its in a ford f150

stock alt.(wanna say 130 a) and an xsd3400 in the back. i will be ugrading everything slowly but surely
-
I have a tight budget and was planning on buying 50 ft of 1/0 power cable.i cant afford the 200 dollar 100% copper spools
if i bought the KCA cable and did 2 runs from the front battery to the rear battery would that be sufficient enough for me to run an aq2200

I have a grounding issue becausey lights are still dimming and I've always suspected my amp ground was the culprit. The local guys told me the seat bolt or seatbelt bolt, so that's what I did but I've never felt comfortable with it. Anyway, I'm gonna redo it tomorrow. Should I ground it to the frame or just make a new hole in the body, sand it down, and use a bigger bolt?
seat belt bolts arnt good grounds because the bolts have alot of mixed metals that create more resistance. you would be better off grounding straight to the battery neg or sanding down and grounding to your frame

Ok.. well say $600-700MAX spend limit
Wiring is all done, so im looking just for a sub(s)/amp combo.
SIZE ISNT AN ISSUE
(dont have an extra battery but that can come in a later expense)
And if ya could, a box design for the combo (making myself)
Wanna do it right this time (shouldve the first time)
and I want something nice and loud.. idk if I could get 2k rms but.. I was lookin at the dc lvl 5 18
that prolly costs a small fortune tho.
a level 5? with a 600 dollar max spending limit? you wont be able to buy anything else with that budget if you get a level 5
-
i would buy an extra battery. with the alt. usually systems over 2000 watts need at least a big battery in the back and a decent one up front and you can get by on a stock alt. but if you buy a good battery in the back with that alt you should be alright. just do big 3 in 1/0 and youll be okay.

AQ
in Amplifiers
if you concerned about the money you could wait a little while and buy the crecendo 2000d its like 100 bucks cheaper and will do rated power.
but the 1200 will slam those SA's im actually slowly putting my system together and have been for over a year. if you buy that amp youll have some extra money to spend on an extra batt and wire
