me either. most of the "3/4" stuff isnt really even 3/4 its like .72 and some change.
-
actually, wood is a good place to start! what you planning on using? ive just built a box, similar specs to what yours in gunna have, and i used 18mm mdf, with a few braces.... its solid as a rock!
3/4 inch MDF, nails, glue. anything i forgot?
Saw? Or will you karate chop? Not always clean lines however......
Judo chop FTW!

liquid nail to seal it up. or just some window caulk will work.
Edit: and carpet. its gotta be spiffy for the ladies

3/4 in birch is pretty solid. its cabinet grade as well so its got more plies than Mdf. slightly more expensive but i believe your box is one place you shouldnt skimp out on

oh ok, i got it now. thank again and i lol'd about the starting point.. wood.
no problem make sure you show pictures!
-
Starting point for a box? Wood?........Haha just messin'
He mean have both the port face towards the trunk lid. Thats normal. If you go with a ported box shoot for around 30-35 hertz.
haha well i didnt want to insult him by saying you need wood, glue and a tape measure

ok thanks for replying so fast. i download the calculator and i have the numbers down. just one question.
what do you mean by subs back and ports back?
basically
the subs and ports are both facing the rear of the car
-
download the Torres box calculator. it should be pinned in the subwoofer/enclosures section.
play with the numbers to get your desired volume then play with the ports to get the tuning at about 35 Hz.
i would suggest subs back and ports back since this is your first box build
that will give you an idea of where to start
good luck!
Edit: it says a min of 1.75ft^3 but i would do about 1.5 per sub. this has always seemed to be a happy median for 12's (for what ive encountered at least)
-
oh okay. that clears up alot.
we do it for Fun part 2- tha joker (hits pretty low in my system i dont know the frequency though)
six blok bass- bass mechanik

its hard to tell with the spelling errors and weird way of talking, but i believe he is actually saying he LIKES the way it sound when there is a really low note. and not that it sound like "ripped shit". dont be ashamed for being confused, its not your fault.
haha yeah thats exactly what i thought. i figured "ripped shit" meant it sounds like shit lol
-
Gain half way on both amps and box tuned to 30 hz and it sound good on higher Norway bit cuz the box is tuned lows it's slams with lower frequency songs and this was to askanout music lol not gains and boxes I just needed some songs
you made it sound like up top that you wanted songs without real lows because it sounded like crap. least that is what i gathered.
-
1/10th of the amp gain doesnt sound like clipping to me or even over-powering, probably box and playing way below tuning with voltage drop. What type of HU are you using? 4v preouts or lower? Having your headunit too high with bad preouts CAN cause clipping there so many different variables but chances are its clipping + enclosure + too low of tuning.
My head unit is a sony xplod with 2v preouts. I do have it runnin on a stock batt and stock alt, but i have never once had a problem with dimming lights or decreasing bass volume from it. I am getting the big 3 very soon...
is it better to have my gain low and HU sub level high? or gain higher with sub level on 0...
from what ive been told your supposed to set the levels on the amp with HU settings at 0. then adjust the HU.
-
And weighting on my 2nd alt to come in than shit will be up 100% again
You do understand you're supposed to set your gain with an oscilloscope and not just turn it up all the way.
sounds like the way hes describing it, he has a crappy electrical with too much voltage drop. could explain why it sounds like shit on the low end. plus his box tuning could be fucked up

4 12s I'll try to get my build pics up I've just been bussy with work I've been going on here with my iPhone
well 4 12's doesnt exactly tell me much. what kind of 12s? what kind of amp are you running. and what exactly does your system do when it hits a low note.
-
Either gain is too high, too much bass boost/clipping from headunit, or your tuning is too high, as everyone else said.
D-train, all subs will not start stinking. Don't know where you get that. I've seen many higher end subs play for years and never have smelled the slightest coil. That's the difference of a tuned and not tuned system.
well i stand corrected. im still a noob here. thanks for clearing that up.
-
Not really the price to much.I had one of there amps and was going to buy another but now they charge shipping on them.Might have to wait for the crescendo amp
Geez thanks lolgood luck finding someone who wants to sell!
i tried a month or so ago
haha yeah. if its the price your concerned with (which the price of the 2200 is awesome) you could also just wait for the crecendo 2000d they use the same board as DC. its cheaper than the 2200
thats what im doing. lol.
-
I've played alot of there music and it pumps I just want somthif with lows my system rips shit when it a song with a lower note
just change the setting on your amp so that the frequency below what you want does pass through.
what kind of system are you running?
-
you could be clipping or your subs could just be getting really hot.
1st rule of soundsystems Stinking = turn down!
make sure your not sending clipped signals to your subs.
but all subs will start to stink after a while no matter what. just remember when they do that you need to turn them down to avoid frying your coils
-
go to the tunz section of the forum. the official songs list.
lotts of music on there

i suppose ill do that. thanks for the help guys.

id go with some Stinger volt meters!
might find them cheaper, depends when u buy them the red ones are usually $17 shipped
yeah im trying to keep everything blue. since all the lights in my truck are blue.
but im not big on that design. guess ill just do some more shopping around.
-
kind of expensive for something you almost never see under your hood. i would just get the volt meter you can mount wherever you want. then you can see it from the driver's seat and dont have to go to the battery.
well that one was going on the batt in the back. but i do agree with you about not getting it for up front
but i cant find any volt meters that i like for mounting in my truck

http://darvex.com/store/pc/Stinger-HPM-Digital-Battery-Terminal-14p44.htm
i bought a xsd3400 and i wanted to monitor voltage on the battery since i have a stock alt.
so i want something to read the voltage for up front and in the back
open to any suggestions. thanks
1st box build, need a starting point
