  1. I tried to call DC but I am assuming they're closed today because I got no answer, twice. I called 3 local shops here and they all say a high grade silicone... Do you guys agree?? I would really like something that will give me a reliable hold so I don't have to inspect the surround every day to be sure it's holding.

Off topic - NONE of the 3 shops I called have ever heard of DC audio... :shok:

most companys wont know DC... cause DC dose not build product stock..there woofers are build per order in the USA... not built in china and shipped to the US... there are three people that make up DC audio... rusty, ana, and rob... they are swamped right now and they just got back from finals

they make a rubber ca type glue that can be used... I have seen people use silcone caulk in a pinch (i would get the right stuff if you have the time)

I got a hold of rob.....

    he said use goop

:good: Just used this to fix a tear in a Level 5 (: works like a charm. dont expect pretty results though

  2. yeah man chill out. nobody on this site is out to make you feel like crap. if you ask for help and are prepared for constructive criticism then youll learn something.

takin the defensive/attacking route is just going to get you kicked off.

if im not correct i thought a forum was created so that people could ask questions and get help from people who can give advice. why join if your just going to freak out on everyone who trys to help you

  3. To start, upgrade the big 3 in 0 gauge, get the largest battery you can fit up front should drastically increase performance. Also, more info on vehicle, equipment, and wiring.

    Shitty 1995 for explorer.

Just tryin to get info on what battery would be best.

the first battery listed is what 350? I dont really wanna pay more than i did for my amp which was 250 so i guess that can be a price limit.. I didnt set one cuz half the time people dont pay attention to them anyways.. so no need to get angry man.

    cheaper the better i guess.

and the wiring is gonna be all 1/0g'd out. my speaker wire is 8g. I just wanted to get the battery out of the way first cuz itll prolly be more expensive.

also whats wrong with copper clad aluminum wiring?

and you definitely need to do the Big 3 with 0 guage.

  4. oh alright. thanks.

yea, cuss if u set them wrong, i mean the way ur doing it can still have a bad clipped signal, that also could be why ur other sub burn the leads. even if ur under powering a sub...

i checked nothin was burnt. i had an alpine type r d2 and the way they make the spiders are that they are hard and brittle. so it just cracked. then it was done for. it wasnt clipping at all. if it was it was soo little that i couldnt hear it

  5. Well that is still possible, if you're not fully aware of the parameters of your sub, I would play it safe. Set gains correctly, and provide an adequate enclosure and pay attention to details.

Even the top of the line subwoofers can be trashed by people abusing them.

yeah i pay attention to that. i usually turn my highs up to what i normally listen to then adjust my gain on the amp to even out bass and highs.

if theres a more proper way to adjust it please tell me lol.

i figured this was the most educated guess to setting the gain
