  1. That's kinda the idea i was going with, but i'm just going to ask a mod to shut this thread off...some people (not you audiosavings) can't help it but be jackasses...seems some ppl need to use my avatar more than i do
  2. to see what members used from this site to build their system...hence a build topic in the build section. Ok...i'll give you some credit to this tho, it didn't start out as that, but it's what it turned into because after hearing the first few posts i was kinda intrigued to see what people actually buy from there and where they run it. i'm not on here to start bad blood (even some ppl are being jerks about it), kinda like a supply build log. Maybe people can update this when they buy something new from them.
  3. I have purchased quite a bit from AudioSavings mostly accessories here and there. I am not one for buying packaged deals as I am an equipment matching whore so I usually match my entire system to one brand or limit myself to specific brands that suite my needs. If I were you I would sit down and calculate a number that will be the max you can justifiably spend on a new system and then I would slowly piece it together by buying items bit by bit. Going balls deep into a new system but saying you have an extremely tight budget should not be in the same sentence. I suggest you figure out what you really need and go from there that would be the best route. Well that was basically just me asking to have users post what they bought and how they ran their purchases from that site in their car (i.e. different lengths of wires and cables routing to what amps controlling what components mounted where)It sounds more or less just like a build log, but i just think it'd be interesting what all everyone buys from there, not necessarily to give me an idea (i already have an idea of things i'm going to buy) but that advice is used widely across the board, and is very excellent advice, little by little till you get the outcome you truly want, whether it's for casual use or spl drags, or even both.
  4. If users are comfortable, can anyone viewing this topic, post what you bought from there, basically telling how they put their system together.
  5. max is good for burps it can handle that power for 1 second befor it blows like the aa mayhem has a max of 25,000 watts per sub Thank you, that's what i was trying to come say but couldn't really explain...it's meant for the maxx amount of watts it can take before going kaploot, not constant (rms) power. So no, i'm not a complete idiot, just have a bad way with words and explaining things. I'm just shocked that companies can fabricate power so much just to sell products.
  6. This is why they have packages like this, so when people like YOU try to put the sub "PEAK" power as you say, you can't come back and bitch when the sub is blown. Although I'm pretty sure judging by the way you are so focused on "PEAK" power you will find a way to blow them anyway. No, i focus on the RMS since that's the actual amount of power that the AMP puts out and the Sub can take. Max is meant for extreme lows every once in a while, not constant. I DO know the difference lol. I'm a noob, not a boob.
  7. Yea, that's one thing i've been confused about, having an amp rated lower than my subs, last time this happend, i burned out my amp, then got an amp rated slightly higher, then blew the sub....but it was an audiobahn 10" bass tube with the 300watt amp, then i had a 600 watt jensen amp thrown on that tube, and it hit HARD for a few days, but then blew the sub lol...i had fun with it. But i just want good subs for deep hard hitting bass for added lows to my system. I dont want junk, but this'd be a build on a budget (some ppl dont have to worry about it, but i do) Right now i have a jensen xs12 125 rms sub (paid $5) on a jensen 150 amp (paid $10), and it is slightly ok, but everytime i had my sony head unit (before it got stolen:( ) at 22/34 and the amp would go into protection mode. Got annoying so i want something that's higher rated when i get a new head unit.
  8. Where should I go then if i want good quality subs and amps? and plz dont say wally world! Are they still good for wires and hookups such as their cadence brands?
  9. Just going through AudioSavings.com for a sub/amp combo and i noticed one main thing, all the amps are under powered to the subwoofer. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? Like their $126.95 Kenwood sub and amp combo, the subs are rated for 200RMS and 800Max, yet the amp is only 150 bridged @ 4 OHMS per channel, but when you get up to the higher end subs like the 449.95 Apline package, you get 2 subs rated 300-600watts RMS with a peak of 2000Watts and the amp is 500 watts per channel, so it doesn't power it for the subs peak, but handles it for constant. Is this a ploy to get you to buy more subs? or is it for versatility if you just CHANGE subs on your own will (amp at diff OHMS is higher watts to allow different subs)? Also, if a subs RMS is supposed to be 1/2 of it's peak, why do some brands say that their RMS is (in some cases) 1000+ watts lower than it's peak? Will it EVER be able to reach it's max without blowing?
  10. Ok, so i got a Jensen A300HLX amp to power the Jensen XS12. It was working great last night when i had it hooked up, not too loud but did give me SOME beat. i did a little bit of work on the box to cut the port in 1/2 to make less air flow (put a piece of wood on 1/2 the top of the box to make it a 1/2 port, i know its ghetto but i wanted to see if it'd work) I put the amp on the side of the box and mounted it so it's sitting sideways, so the RCA's are coming out of the top and the p/g/r and speaker wires are coming from the bottom. I turned it on last night right as i was finishing up and it worked. I turned it on this morning (granted it was 25 degrees this morning) and i'm getting the red protection light as if it's being over powered. But it's not. turned the gains all the way down and still green light. could it be just that it's cold? or is it how i mounted it? i'm at a loss now. i just got this amp yesterday, yes it was on craigslist and i tested it before leaving and all day and it worked, but it's already giving me issues. please someone help. The AMP is 300 watt max, it's 100 watt bridged at 4ohms and the sub is 125 rms and 375 max. I'll check the fuse when i get home tonight but would the light even come on if the fuse was blown?
  11. Did you just trade the subs or did you keep them and just keep buying more? i'm a lil OCD so i dont like to get rid of things lol. But the AMP i really want to keep because it was given to me by my dad, and i dont want to part with it, and he had it in is old 94 cavalier 2dr to power his front and back speakers, he even said it blew his front speakers and he went thru 3 sets. But this jensen at 5 bucks was a steal in itself.
  12. That is awesome. I would totally go for that! I do need trunk space tho for kids bags/strollers and groceries lol. Ur set up is sick and i appreciate the inspiration! That set up must have cost a fortune. My sub i got off CraigsList for $5 cuz the guy didn't know if it worked and didn't feel like hooking it up to find out. He wanted $10 but i got him down haha. and it was a free amp from my dad so it's not real powerful and i can't afford anything high end cuz i have kids n not the best income lol. But like i said, i appreciate the videos!
  13. Mods, please delete this thread. I didn't mean to double post!
  14. I personally like how it looks, but it's not built to specs for the sub so it's not the best sounding one out there. It's my first box so i'm proud of myself in that aspect. internal volume is 22Wx12.5Lx12H. Has a 22Wx7Hx2L port on the back facing up. Too long i know, the sub is a Jensen XS12 375W max 125RMS powered by an Alpine 3527S 4/3/2. Box is tuned to 35 or 36Hz i think? math is prolly off. I'm just starting out on all this and this is my first time, so plz b easy on me lol. Please if you have any suggestions/comments/words of advice or encouragement, it'd be appreciated. Oops a lil gap... here's my temp fix to c if this helps Tried to seal the inside edges with Silicone Here's it done and installed Sorry for all those pix in one post, i just like taking pix of progress and try and get every detail. I'll be making another box closer to specs if i get a better amp. Edit: had to fix the upload of the pix
