  1. only thing about those tests are, seems to me he doesn't know if hes clipping or not.

they talk about the gain little below have than a little over, so those results could be clipping

Valid point you have there there should be a test where someone sets the gain with an oscope and then does the clamping test after that in the same vid so we would know power output unclipped.

There are other vids on youtube than the one in the link I posted but I dont think they show they set it with an oscope or not.

  2. I just got done building a box for my 2 sa-15s. 7 cubic ft net tuned to 33 hz with 103 sq in port (14.72 sq in per cubic ft). It does well on the ap3k.

Never have had a system metered yet but it is pretty healthy for a daily system for sure.

Edit: Box outer dimensions with double baffle and 3/4" mdf is 34" wide x 31" tall x 18" deep. Port area is 29.5" tall x 3.5" wide.

  3. Looks really nice color matching car is nice but in a different color it would look really nice in my car... LOL

If onfiregrafx does all your airbrushing for your caps then they also did mine I bought mine new from someone selling 4 of them they decided not to run and they all had flames airbrushed on them not my style to put flames on anything at all but it actually looks really good these guys are good at what they do!

  4. Good choices you've got there. I'd try to run 1200-1500 on it, here's my suggestions.

    most desired to least desired.

    Rockford Fosgate T-1000-1bd

    Sundown 1200 or 1500

    Soundigital SD1000.1D

    AQ 1200

    Hifonics BRZ1200.1D

    Power acoustic BAMF-40001D

    Audiopipe AP15001D

Good advice! I agree 100% with this guy here I have posted in your other thread I think but Ill post again I would recommend 1200rms+ up to about 1500ish myself maybe a couple watts more but not much and probably not a 2k daily. I run my level 4 12 in 2 cubes tuned to 32hz on DD M1a and it takes the power well and would say it can handle maybe 500rms more but that would be getting pretty high in the rms range for this sub daily IMO but these things are beasts and I have seen a Level 4 12 on wall socket and takes it for quite a while and doesnt fry so...

  5. Nice I have one 12" DC Level 4 d2 on DD m1a @ 1ohm (a bit underrated at 1200rms@1ohm). I have only a optima red top in front n big 3 done and 4 gauge power/ground stock alt. It takes the m1a like a champ and could handle more with proper setting of gain on the amp. I just purchase but have not yet received a more powerful amp rated at 1750 rms @ 1ohm n might try it out on the level 4 12 for a bit before I upgrade to two subs over winter and 0 gauge high output alt and battery in rear!

But ya id say go with the saz-1500 if you havent purchased your amp already itll take it fine Im sure I have heard of people running 2krms to Level 4s so again proper gain setting and that amp would definitely do that sub well in about 2 cubes after displacements I prefer lower tuning myself but thats up to you. BTW I do recommend 2 cubes for the level 4 12 because though I have only tried two boxes with this sub I tried 1.8 cubes and 2 cubes and there was a noticeable difference in output with the larger box. But this is up to you and your build. Hope something I rambled about helps a little bit.

  6. I remember reading somewhere on either this forum or caco or ca not sure which one that when someone did tests on the mic with the level 4 and level 4xls that the level 4s were as loud or louder up to 2000rms but after that the xls were louder. I have a level 4 myself and want to get another one soon. They definitely have the low rumble and sound so solid compared to other subs I have heard/owned. Either choice will be great (lvl 4 w/ 5 coils or xls).

    Welcome to the dark side!

  7. I bought a "Custom" prefab box that is 2 cubes @ 32hz and it sounds really good the lows are great like Jeezy songs that have mid to low 30hz notes. I am sadly only running 800 rms @ 4 ohms from an Infinity amp and it sounds good but cant wait to get a higher powered amp either the AQ 1200 or the Sundown 1200 and run the sub/amp at 1 ohm.

I am interested on peoples input as well for box specs for the level 4 12.

  8. I heard a guys system in a Cavalier he had two 10" T2s in a ported box on a RF amp not sure of wattage and cubic ft or tuning but it tickled my ears a little bit. I was pretty surprised actually that it was only two 10s when he popped the trunk... However there is better out there for cheaper.

  9. How much clean power can one of these things take? I am looking to upgrade my amp eventually to something over 1000rms like a Sundown 1200 or maybe some other good amp that puts out 1200-1500rms @ 1 ohm. I assume it could pretty easily take 1200 rms of clean power but how much more than that? I dont think 850rms is going to cut it for me...

  10. Well, like the title says I purchased a 12" Level 4 today and also an enclosure 2.0cubes @ 32hz. I will be running it with an Infinity 1211a mono amp that is rated at 1300rms @ 2 ohms which is what I will wire the sub for.

I cant wait for the stuff to come. It should be here Monday hopefully.

Should hit pretty good and also sound good I think.

I wanted to get a 18" Level4XL and another later, but that was what I was going to put in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am driving my 98 Neon now since the Jeep needs to be fixed and I need some bass. So I "settled" for a 12" because the Neon trunk is small to say the least and it only has around 30" between wheelwells so not enough room for a 15 or 18 with an enclosure to spec unless it was crammed in there so I had to compromise for now.
