Anything 2000w and up should work fine as long as you dont clip the balls off the amp.
-
-
Caps mostly just help with line ripple. They are good to help protect amplifiers from AC waveforms and to supplement internal capacitance of the amplifier, but as most here already know, they're pretty much useless.
Dimming headlights and voltage or current drop/starvation are just signs of a poor or weak electrical system.

add a battery, even a $50 junker from wally world

You should see if Mythbusters need help with any myths related to audio, they could attend as a team ; )

It will be quieter.
In a trunk car the loudest unsealed is 90% of the time subs back and port back. Sealed (very well sealed) performs best with subs forward and port forward (or up through rear deck). If you dont seal everything very very well, it wont get louder.

loading or wiring, or blown sub.

NIIIIIIIIICE! Whatever you did, it's way better! I know it wasn't cheap!!! Now will you be selling shirts, hats, and stickers to make some money. lol!!!
thanks!!! and no it wasnt cheap, no matter what the "know it all" up there says......lol. Its never been cheap, from day 1. Everyone is an expert though

its not a home pc thats why. And since its hosted by a company its how they get you.
FB-DIMM's are not "home PC" ram ; )
As to the cost, there's no way it should be costing that much. Really for the price if this is a drop in the bucket you could build your own server and have it co-located or even just upgrade the home/shop network and put it there ; )
but whatever, its faster.. who cares
server to run this shit at the shop or at his house? Do you even have a clue how many fiber lines it takes to carry the bandwidth that this place eats just in a one minute time frame? Get real dude.
Steve, show people what your actual monthly bandwidth use is so they stop with stupid ass comments like this please .
Why yes, I do actually have a clue, thank you very much.
We used to run xtremesystems.org from an office. Worked fine. 10x the users that are here
Used to. Until you realized that wasn't enough and bought a dedicated server...
Oh yeah, and your site does this
500 Internal Server ErrorThe server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
Reason: Error parsing access file
Tells me enough about how much you know...
P.S. just that took about 5-8 seconds to load...and it's not my cable.
What makes you think the systems its been on have never been dedicated hardware?
Try this link, we just upgraded the software so the front page isnt working (front page has been iffy for a long time though actually, i'll admit that) at the moment: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/
As to 5-8 seconds, meh. Cant accurately benchmark a connection problem from a one-time load, let alone after a software upgrade for a forum that hosts as many users as XS does.

$75 for more ram? wtf? Even the FB-DDR in my system didnt cost that much

Yes, you can EQ out the metal cone, but its more work and accuracy is debatable as the EQ work may in the end attenuate complementary frequencies as well, which may be undesirable. Really a sub shouldnt be bright, thats content that the low/midbass drivers should be handling. My statement is the same, they are poor for SQ use in general. Doesnt mean you cant use them. Subsonic/transient content requires excursion and there's no getting away from it unless you have tons of woofers and a box under your house like some crazy people do.
Korey - I'm still waiting for you to tell us what they did differently with the cone. I see no bracing and cant seem to find a moving mass measurement either, so as far as i'm concerned its just a regular aluminum cone that will deform and fold if used in anything beyond moderate volumes eventually.
-
I hate multiquote being broken on this forum......
Skittles - I've used enough aluminum cone woofers to know they have a bright or tinnish sound to them in most anything but a bandpass enclosure. I've also folded several cones on drivers 15" and larger. Does this mean DLS has these issues? Dunno, but aluminum has a spotty track record for me and many others. Might work perfectly fine for the OP as he may never push them as hard as some of us do and maybe doesnt like transients or output below 25hz very much which requires decent amounts of excursion.
Korey - Point out what DLS has done differently than every other aluminum cone driver before? To me it looks like a woofer with the same parts as every other off-the-shelf basket/spider/2-slug setup out there. Just with an aluminum cone.

and since when does abusing the piss out of a sub have anything to do with SQ?
If you're spending $1K+ on a sub it should be built either to withstand some abuse, or to be damn good SQ. The nobelium 15's are neither.
-
They're not horrid.. but I hope you didnt pay a lot for them.
Probably do well in about 3 cubic feet each depending on how much power you're feeding them.
do you know what your talking about? DLS = high end sq worth the money
Aluminum cone, SQ? Unfortunately most aluminum cones are not engineered well enough to be used for SQ, let alone for over $1000. The rest of the parts there total maybe $250.
european prices are WAY different than here.
aluminum cones sure as hell can be used for SQ. it all depends on the type of sound you want. how is a paper cone any more "engineered" than a metal one?
They tend to be stronger and flex/resonate less, though it is still possible depending on construction method.
Paper cones that are strong are easy to come by and can be produced quite cheaply. Aluminum cones which dont flex or resonate are not and also have high production costs. Why do you think most high performance drivers still use paper or a mix/derivative thereof?
If you watch this closely beginning at 3:15+ you can see the influence of mechanical limits from the surround.. at 4:10+ its really easy to watch since it slows down.
This is a VERY strong cone as well. It is a woven fiberglass front with pressed paper backing. An aluminum cone experiencing this would have likely folded or creased.

Saw that last night man its pretty damn good
where people get the time to make all that i`ll never know.
But here you might dig this, transformer inspired dubstep mix from different songs
Rip off of other songs.. and sounds like trash too.

I like dubstep and in my opinion this wasn't that good... Very linear and repetitive and wasn't that great sounding when it was jus sayin
Ditto.
Junk really :/

60hz is way high..

yeah, i know. i just think carpeted truck boxes like that are kind of bland and boring. i want something different. and i dont know if ill have eough space to mount the subs if i put them behind the seat. im a little bigger than the average guy, so i have the seat back more than most, and there's hardly any room as it is.
So are you going to buckets or not? Truck box with subs "clammed" in the center means you can put yout seat back as far as you want..

-
do a center-clam-shell design?
Tossed this together in 5 minutes.. looks a bit like shit, sorry

Wall sockets are only good for 15A @ 120v (1800W, unsure on the required impedance for that though lol...). Guess you could go to 220 though..
