I wish flat cones would come back into style..
-
Cone is king
ummm for comps POWER is king
thats how you get 2 18's over a 160 vs 16 12's doing a 157
Assuming you've done proper structural reinforcement and box tweaking..
-
CA Glue is just superglue, btw.
edit
here's a trick if you have some gap issues while gluing:
-
Either glue, or ripped joint, or broken coil with poor connection.
-
I've heard of fewer AB500.1's dieing than I have DDZ1a's, but the Z1's tended to be abused too so thats what usually killed them..
-
parallel the coils then series the subs bridged to the amp.
-
drywall screws are my fav, easy to pre-drill and countersink and they're cheap.
Use more screws. I dont use nails at all.
-
If you're going to do buckets then put the 15 in the center mounted inverted and use all the area behind the seats for box volume.

ive been looking at new amps in the 3.5-7k range and found the lanzar 6000d, was just wondering if it uses a single set of power inputs, from my research a single run can only handle about ~300 amps, and this is not enough to make 6k. i dont think at least.
i see amps like the DC 5k with 2 sets of inputs then a bigger amp with less power input capability.
what gives?
Its a cheaper amp that relies more on current than amperage to attempt to make the actual output. DC, AB, AQ etc are designed a bit differently, and use dual input for that high of wattage.
How much are you looking to spend?
current == amperage.
You're probably thinking "voltage" which actually affects any amp.. well, most.
-
Just put a big heatsink on the mosfet and call it good, no need for the fan.
-
how does he have them in there right now?
If they're facing forward then turn them around so they face backwards.
-
You tuned your amp to non-boosted/slowed music. Boosted/slowed music might not be clipped, but it could be pushing your amp to clipped levels.
-
er, each terminal connector goes to a bolt, not each coil going to all 4.
-
i swear my balls hurt sometimes after listening to it full tilt for a bit
go get some dude in a white coat to fondle them and stick a finger in your butt, it seems to help some people with those kinds of issues for some reason..

i have nothing to base this off of, but I think it would be worse to clip the input signal than to clip the output signal of an amplifier. I am probably wrong though.
Yeah, you're wrong. Clipping either is bad.
i think you misunderstood...not anywhere did he state one clipped signal was good and the other bad. he said WORSE.
Skippy...i need a couple minutes to think through your statement. i see your logic and where youre coming from...
I realize this, but I stated what I did because clipping either is bad. The extent to which you clip either is what will determine which is worse.

dont center punch the screw unless you have something under the terminal block to support it, even then it is dangerous to do as you can crack it off the PCB of the amplifier.
should have a support under it while drilling as well really
-
drill it out to next size up and re-tap. might just need a better drill bit.

I had a 12" in a truck box (sealed, layed on its back instead of standing up) in that position in my old 85 camaro and it pounded extremely hard.. kind of miss that setup lol. Set the box up there and test, if it works you can throw together a low profile box that could have the speakers and sub on it.
ill try it out but my box isnt sealed either
its a port
yeah I saw that. port facing rear might act kind of like an suv and get you some awesome output ; )

put your sub where your amp is facing backwards (towards glass hatch), it will probably be louder.

You need to change the rest of the 'fets as well on the stage (input or output) that those ones were damaged on likely.
If doing the rest of them doesnt help then you've got larger issues.. which sucks.
-
reason that they are saying that is that the truck they had had reached the 180 mark with like a crap load of those amps
guys, 180db.. on iasca 2006 setup.
that means it wasnt a termlab.
-
aim sub and port towards back of trunk, its always the best option in a trunk car unless you turn them towards front of car and seal it perfectly from the trunk.

Positive speaker output terminal on one amp goes to positive terminal of a subwoofer. Positive speaker output terminal on the other amp connects to the negative terminal of the subwoofer.
Negative output terminals of the two amplifiers are linked to each other.
