this tool is so much fun...you can measure your microwave and see if it's REALLY 1200 watts...LOL
Anyone who want's an AMM-1 make sure you get your order in so you catch this next batch (3/15/14) or sooner.
click the banner below and never look back.
even better are the ratings on shop-vac's lol.

a pick or really small flat screwdriver would help pull the former down off the coil. As long as the coil isnt conducting through a scratch to the former then it will be ok.
-
If you're really careful about tapping it back out you might be ok..
I have fixed a couple (not my fault lol!) using pliers with fabric wrapped around the teeth to keep from scratching stuff and a steel pipe (also fabric covered) to roll the inside on to adjust the curve a little if needed.

-r9 post snipped-
The R9 290/x are hot, but i'm enjoying my 290x, and as far as i've seen it compares well with the 780Ti for roughly the same price as the 780. Mind you I bought before some of the prices jumped due to coin miners, but it looks like they might be dropping down again anyways with the next batch of cards (stock all but dried up during the buying frenzy).
I game at 2560x1600 btw. Single 290x for now works great for me, and isnt that loud. In fact my GTX670's were louder in SLI due to poor cooler design for running SLI.. go figure lol

You mean LN2/Dry Ice. Kingpin wasnt the first and he isnt the only guy doing it.. and we've been doing that a lot longer than 10 years as well. You probably halved whatever credibility you might have given yourself earlier with that snarky comment.

Given the liquidity of the paste used, its not really an issue. I'm just glad it wasnt a silver based paste.. lol
WHOA!!!!
Wait a person that actually understands that all TIMs are not the same viscosity, and some of them that come with some brand coolers are actually very runny, and are normally non conductive paste.
While others like artic silver or mx, or ic diamond is conductive to name a few and causes a huge problem if it oozes off the chip.
No matter how many people reply saying its not an issue with how it is applied, and actually know the differences between different types of thermal pastes like us, Im sure people will continue to reply saying "YOU DID IT WRONG"!
lol
i'm not a mod at xtremesystems.org for nothing ; )

Heatsink base.
Cold plates are for Peltier elements.
Uneven application isnt really the issue, its general overall thickness as TIM is really an insulator in anything but a microscopic layer.
-
... why is there thermal paste and pads on your ram???????
Also, how tight were the screws on your 780's? I've had 3 Asus DCU-II cards die on me now, all had poorly installed screws.

Every area? How about cost?
Bit subjective, but you can build a PC that games as well or better than a console for the same price.
We build my buddies DJ systems at about $350 each, and they game fine..

meh bf4, gonna be same bs as bf3 due to consolitis and dlc.
-
You can play it on PC already, just use the XB360 emulator.
Not perfect, but with some modding..

steve, test some pro audio gear!!
-
-
Hey Steve, do you have any Crown or other pro audio amps to test? Would be neat to know the actual output they can manage

Or here even better. Show us somwthing you built. Screen name and date on a piecw of paper. If you cant produce you disappear
And dont forget to tell us why its the best alignment for our listening environments and content since you seem to know so much about the layout of our environments and what is going to be listened to and are using it to base your argument upon.

these things have been finished for like three years.
more like 6 years
dude came in here rambling about something that nobody gives a fuck about, so i deleted it. SMH, some people...LOL -
Ya man. Nobody gives a fuck about sound quality?
Just delete, that'll make you look better. It's like photoshop for yo ego.
It's a valid point that the tweeters are nearly 2 feet apart, and will cause interference patterns which will cancel at various frequencies, causing those frequencies to disappear.
Oh no, tweeters are not to someone's specifications who isnt around to hear the setup to judge it in person. End of the world!

dont forget your car seat wont stay in one place with you sitting in it and moving around.
-
Steve do testing outside of car audio with this thing as well, would be nice to see numbers from home/pro audio equipment
Quoting doesn't work for me :(.
