That's what i wanted to read. I'm a sound quality person also, jus not an expert. For the reason I ask for help.

I was referring to external crossovers they sell as individuals without the mids & tweeters. I might do as you state and been doing so far as leaving my amp on High-pass and have it set down to 100hz to 250hz.. These Image Dynamics get high and play low notes well too. My main concern was I did not know if I could damage these speakers by playing to high of notes. I'm not a treble junkie so I might be alright. I'm going to use what I've got(High-pass filter on amp) and be done with it. I might experiment with it being set on full range.

By doing my homework I will use an external crossover for system clarity and control. Now my question is with these speakers having a 2 ohm load, does it makes the cut-off frequencies multiply down or up? What is the math fore calculating this?

Is it absolutely necessary to use a passive crossover to a mid-bass speaker. I have these ( http://www.wooferset...ss-drivers.aspx). My amp is an Audiopipe 2004 4 channel. Right now they are on the High Pass selector on my amp. I do not want to do what I read on here that consist of using the low-pass of my equalizer and the high-pass of my amp because the low-pass of the equalizer is currently being used for my sub amp. I was considering buying a 2-way passive crossover and jus hooking up the woofer portion, only problem is more stuff to stick in my door panel. The speakers have a good frequency response of 50hz to 10,000hz..

I tried it out. It's a noticeable difference. I researched it online(http://www.customanalogue.com/elsinore/elsinore_19.htm).

Has anybody heard or tried of reversing the polarity of the tweeters. I remember reading it in an instruction manual of some Polk Audio components I had back in the mid 90's. From what the manual states it gives the tweeter an off axis sound stage. Will this harm the tweeters in any way or not worth doing?

I was jus wondering cause the motorcycle batteries turns it on, power their lights, and run any other accessories all day long plus some more days until it needs to be charged again. Remember motorcycles do not have alternators. But if u say do it right, so I will. I was seeing if their is an alternative plus trying to save some snaps. Mostly everything car audio is ridiculously overpriced for the reason I asked.

Has anyone put a 12 volt motorcycle battery as a second battery in the trunk for your audio system? I tried to do a search here and I mostly came up with someone had used a golf cart battery. I've done the big 3, got a deep cycle battery up front/main, and have a 200 amp alternator. By the way I own a 03 Mustang GT. I have a Cadence ZRS 8000D mono amp rated(Gray Cover) @ 2250 @ 1 ohm. Walmart has some that are AGM , so there will be no acid vapors in the car. Since they are the Low Priced Leader I want to get one there. Motorcycle batteries have a small footprint for the reason why I am asking has anyone use this type of battery.

I do remember most all your amps circa 80's had the power wires coming out of them. All u had to do was add to it if needed or jus put your crimp connections than you r done.

I know u was. I jus tryin to remember was it that complicated for the instal back then.

I did not ask the material used LOL! I jus asked what was the size of the wire used to power the systems.

I need a question asked being that I am gettin old(37 years old) and can't remember half the things all the times. I know this may sound crazy but what size wire(gauge) was used to power some of these OL'Skool amps of the entire 80's? I remember using the largest u could get at the autoparts store which was 10 gauge. Now I remember some serious sound sytems with multiple woofers and amps totaling 2000 watts plus, with that said I know they could of not use 10 gauge wire. One of my friends(older than me) said his crew used welding cable to power those powerful sytems. Now adays u must use 2 gauge or better if u do not want to set your car on fire. (That almost happen to me dammit). Is it nowadays with the new amps u must use the bigger wire or is the Old stuff jus better? Things that make u say Hmmmm?!
