  1. well u will need one anyways after u burn a hole thru the cone when u try and solder them...

dont know what else to tell ya...save up and recone them...

Was thinking the same exact thing, it's a pain to solder them back especially if you've never done so before. Just save up for the recone.

  2. that psi is cool lot of information. has anyone on here ever tried building their own or is it cheaper just to buy another one

I've built a bunch of frankenwoofers in my past, either for myself or for friends. All depends if u have the ability to build them yourselves or just wanna buy one. There are positives to building "custom" woofers and negatives usually are finding matches(if you want multiples) or running into issues along the way(coils not fitting, basket mounting points don't match up to the motor, etc issues).

It usually is cheaper if you can find the right parts but not by a significant amount for the most part.

  3. lvl 4 w/ 5 coils = lvl4xl

power handling wise, specs wise, etc wise other than magnet?

    ?????

No they don't have the same power handling or T/S params... The lvl4 w/ 5 coil will take like 2k daily, LVL4xl I've seen take 3500+ daily without any real issues. Anywhere from 1k-2k i'd run the LVL4, from 2k-3500 daily I'd stick with the LVL4xl, and anything above that LVL5s.

  4. He might be able to help you out, his name is Dave aka Team PSI on other forums and this is his website. He has built tons of custom woofers over the years and does sell recones from what i can remember. Whether one fits your woofer or now idk, personally it's not worth it to recone it. Especially since you'll only have one with those soft parts on it and the other one will have Audiobahn parts.

  5. Not really my place, but i find it sooo funny when i read threw topics and on your Youtube, how people are always questioning what you do..

BECAUSE HES STEVE FUCKIN MEADE!! thats why... /thread..lol

I find this soo amusing and not in the same way others in this thread are... Steve does do very high quality installs and is very loud, while still retaining all seating area/below the window line. But he is just that, a regular guy that does high power/high dollar installs and happens to film everything he does along the way. I might not be the biggest fan of some of his setups, but I'll be the first one to say that he does do great work because there is no denying that.

But he is not this high and almighty figure that some of you have appointed to him. He doesn't do anything that breaks records or is incredibly ground breaking that no one has done before. I'll say it before and I'll say it again, right now he is the face of our hobby and sport regardless of who likes it or doesn't. He's been very successful in getting his name out there with his build talents, vids(featured on ROE back in the day), and then his site.

By no means am I hating on him(read above, i gave him tons of compliments), but I'm sure many of you will take it like that.. I just can't take seeing all the time here that everyone thinks Steve is sum sort of god.

Hopefully you don't take this the wrong way, but if you do I'll see you guys after my vacation.

  6. yes thats 8 gauge and im sure its not big enough ROE says fuse at 160amps so im sure it needs at least 4 gauge....i kinda figured the amp was worth 75 so the subs were threw in. The amps in great shape all but for a couple of scuffs and i already hooked it up and it works so does the subs.

I definitely wouldn't run 8ga and wouldn't even suggest running 4ga either... Just get 1/0ga to be safe, it's worth the little extra $$ without question.

  7. but you're talking about a drunk driver hitting him. You would be saving this chicks ass by Doing that.

You truly are a better man then i Red.

When i was rear ended JUST a tad i blew up on the guy.

I called police. I took pictures. The dude begged me not to but i didn't give a fuck. It was HIS fault, and HE Payed for it.

I have NO sympathy for any one driving drunk. I have lost two cousins and a fiancee to drunk drivers.

I would have done the same exact thing, fuck being a nice guy in that situation.

  8. Yea, just people in car audio communities dont really grab a hold of anything and keep it for any real period of time. Stuff is always here today gone tomorrow. Also, me being a 3-4 drink a day energy drinker, unless it taste like rockstar or redbull i dont see myself trying anything new.....RIPIT fucked up me trying new drinks

This is the big reason why there are a only a few successful energy drink companies out there. Just like Coca Cola and Pepsi, people get used to the flavor and the results they get from drinking them. I will only drink Red Bull, NOS, and a single flavor of Monster. I can't stand any of energy drinks out there, regardless if sum are more healthy, cost less, or give better results.

Just the start of cost alone would be a huge undertaking. I wouldn't doubt it being in the hundreds of thousands to even get it bottled/canned, let alone the marketing/distribution/etc needed to start making back the money spent. Good luck is all i can say.

  9. I got hit by a woman in 2007 who had no license, insurance, registration, etc... Police reported to the scene, it didn't bother me because I had uninsured motorist coverage on my policy. Turns out it only covers for me at least medical insurance, but the state prosecuted the woman on my behalf. They agreed she owed me the $3700 estimate I got, but I'm being payed out $35 per month over the next 8.5 years which is fucking ridiculous.

I'd report the hit and run, doesn't look like she is gonna call you back. Yes, you can press charges but unless u have a police report to prove the accident then good luck doing so.
