Isnt it also true that regular cab trucks dont meter all that well? Well from what ive heard...
With a blowthrough then tend to do a lil bit better lol.
-
You'll prolli be louder with the single 15 IMO, regardless of the 2 12s having the cone area advantage... I'd stick with the single 15" setup.
-
Good luck, that's all i can say.
-
Yep that model SX, but the price they have listed IMO is a lil bit high.
Check w/ DC about prices on LVL4s also.
-
yea ive done quite a few setups to at least get close by ear lol. i have it it set moderately low. and btw don't you live in Florida?
Yea i live in FL for the time being, prolli be moving again in the next 6 months or so.
Also don't think that the 140+ is a shoe in w/ 2 15s + 3kw, I've seen more equipment do lower scores just in poor enclosures/setups.
-
Your running a 2 channel amp that is only stable at 2 ohms bridged... You have it at 1 ohm, with stock electrical.
Lets make it simple for you, you keep doing what your doing, your going to clip your subs to death, and blow up the amp.
Shyne is 100% right, wire each sub in series at 2 ohms, and run 1 sub at 2 ohms per channel.
That amp is only stable at 1 ohm if you use both channels and not having it bridged.
Couldn't explain it better myself and for the time being, be very careful with your voltage. Keep an eye on your volt meter and play it little with car off or @ idle.
-
lol i assumed that. im sure i can get more out of it but i need to set the gains with a scope, and might need to snag some new subs soon.
Are they at least set with a DMM or properly by ear if you're used to doing that??
-
Link doesn't work, but more than likely yes... The older 12 spoke basket ones are some of the better subs IMO in the 1k-1500w range.
-
well lets say i want to keep it down to two batteries, 1 under hood and 1 in trunk what are my best options.
because im thinkin maybe a bt100 under the hood and maybe one in the trunk, or a kinetik 14/1800 under the hood and maybe like a 2400 in the trunk? am i on the right track...any suggestions? my head hurts lmao. im trying to figure how you guys are coming up with this. are you trying to match the cranking amps of the batts to the rms of the combined amps. meaning a system that does 2k daily should have 2k worth of amperage from the batts??
No mine is all from experience with more setups than i can remember... Id strongly suggest you run like a Kinetik 1400 under hood + 2 2000s or 2400s out back. I always say this, but if you're gonna spend the cash on the rest of your setup then don't skimp on electrical or security(alarm, tints, etc).
-
With 2 15s in a blowthrough off 3k and if you're not doing a 140+ @ dash all sealed up, then there is something wrong.
-
Old model RE SX 15 would be pretty nice lil setup off that power.
-
Just remember though, it's absolutely pointless to do 18s if u don't have the proper airspace/room for air to get back into the cabin. I can GUARANTEE that 2 15s with proper airspace(especially in a trunk car) will be louder than 2 18s in a small box, choked off from the cabin.
-
I did that with some caulk we had, but someone said the wood itself leaks some air. I don't know if this is noticeable or not but I want to get as much out of my build as I can.
I always resin the insides of my boxes, but that's more out of habit from when i competed. You won't notice or feel any air getting out what so ever is u apply sealant.
-
imo...silicone= no no....
get the white stuff...
That is silicone based sealant lol, if you're talking about the sealant used for caulking.
Btw don't worry about the MDF itself leaking, only the edges do very very little.
-
I'm a fan of mine and they do get loud for having like 4k on the pair after imp. rise... I ran one daily for about a week or so @ 1ohm, while waiting for the second one to come in and it took 4k daily pretty well. I wouldn't suggest running that kind of power to each one, but 2k-3500 is perfect for them. The SQ is pretty good also, but is very box dependent. I got mine(silver cones) for an insane deal when my old shop closed down or I wouldn't have them.
For that price/power it's a toss up IMO.
-
Silicone sealant, the stuff they use in bathrooms and what not... Like a couple dollars for a tube, apply a decent bead on the inside edges of the box. Then swipe it with ur finger to push it down, like doing a poon smell test.
-
so an optima yellow top d35 wont cut it for under the hood?
That would be fine under hood, but also include 2 other big batts(powermaster 3100, Kinetik 2400, NSB90, etc).
With 3k+ daily, I'd definitely suggest u run an HO alt... Anywhere from 200-300amp would do well, i'd suggest 250a and up though.
Scores wise, who the hell knows lol... Could be anywhere from 135-150+ depending on enclosure, voltage, imp. rise, etc. I know you want people to "hear you coming" but please don't be another one of the idiots who sits @ red lights or pulling into gas stations at full tilt.
-
ok it was all in the truck and the guy just told me to hold the mic in my hand and move it around, like even the digital readout was in the truck with me
Are you serious?? If so that is truly sad that a shop doesn't understand how/where to place the mic.
Scores were far from anything legal in any org. then... Personally I'd go back there and ask to re-test stating that they are fucking idiots.
-
Without question the 24 12s.
-
actually the AC 190 is the closest meter to the termlab out there. The 170 and 180 arent anything like the 190
Exactly wht i was gonna say... Hopefully it wasn't an old Epic 160 lol.
-
With the money/power range needed listed, there is no better amp than the AP 1500D.
-
If you're planning on sticking with those subs for awhile I'd run the MB amp... G/l running 3k daily to a pair of those, I ran a pair of 12s a lil while back on an Orion 2500D @ 1ohm and they got very stinky very quickly.
-
I don't think anyone knows what difference it makes, i sure don't. People luv to assume suff and really can't back up what they'er saying. Who really knows what a bass boast does, why even have it on the amp, if it's just gonna add distortion, heat, and clipping. Has anyone ever tested the effect of the bass boast, or are we going by what we've heard by word of mouth.
The single best thing i've seen in awhile, thank you for your contribution.

grats on the liscense, now go get some DTP tickets lmao
Or like other on here speeding tickets, to be cool you gotta get more than 2 though.
Btw congrats on the license
Cheap enclosure sealing options

Prolli because that enclosure is wayy to small for those 12s... Might wanna take more time on your enclosures or have someone else design them at least in the future.
