  1. that basket has always been pure sex.... im pretty sure these woofs have been tested before shipped... just top secret.. maybe im wrong... im sure they wouldn't be released blindly is all im saying
I just read in the other thread a pair of these, or subs using same motor design, were in a show out east, Turkey drag or something, and did great numbers

Well obviously they've been tested plenty but I wouldn't really call them top secret by any means. The pictures of different woofers w/ the technology has been around for prolli around a year or so now and they've been used in competitions.

Team XS-SPL or something similar to that has been using a pair of these single World Finals and has done very well with them I believe. I'm 99% sure that they're being run off either one or a pair of Hertz 15ks. Granted that is in a burp car and this will be the first(that I know of) that someone will be using them in a daily driven setting.

  2. I'm guessing because they just wanted to update the technologies and get more defined categories for their woofers. Of course the 2 things I just mentioned will also make them more money by having many woofers all in various price ranges to fit into any system size/price. I have to agree with you though, the older punch/power Hx2 models were great woofers and shouldn't have been phased out.

  3. Here's the shop I was talking about - http://www.customedgeaudio.com/ .... They have done a bunch of very big setups in the past that have done some monster numbers too. Gmonk + Lil Jon's Vans have both done a 157+ bassrace with each of their setups. The people there are all pretty cool guys and their work is impeccable, it shows some of it in the pics on their site. Especially Gmonk's setup that he had w/ 24 15s in a 4th order off 6 SAZ-3000Ds. Not only did it do some great numbers + insane hairtricks, but it also was such a clean setup once they finished everything up.

  4. Get a legit shop/builder to do the work and one that has actually done large setups like this before.

As long as you have an electrical setup like the one you have listed, I wouldn't be surprised if your standing voltage was around 15-15.5v so I wouldn't bother running a true 16v setup.

As far as the HU is concerned I'd look into a high quality Alpine or Pioneer flip out and grab a CD changer to prevent skipping when using CDs. If you're planning on doing competitions, some require using commercially available CDs. So the changer will stop the skipping that is bound to occur when running a setup of this size.

Don't go cheap if you want things done correctly the first time. 99.9% of the time it's worth it to buy better quality products and pay the extra $$ for a high quality shop to perform the install. The last time we went over all of this I gave u the name of the shop here in FL that I would recommend over nearly any other one out there.

Can't forget about the huge amount of deadener that you're gonna need to help keep your vehicle in one piece.. Even with it you're bound to run into things getting loose and leaking after they start taking some real abuse.

One more thing, get ready to spend a shit load of money in the near future if you want this all done correctly.

  5. 3-4 300a alts will be plenty and depending on the amps you get 7-10 big batts in back... I'd worry less about the stress on the amps and more about the stress on the woofers with you planning on running 3500w+ per woofer. Personally I wouldn't run anymore than 3k per BTL for daily purposes, especially with 6 18s it's gonna be more than enough.

Also have you contacted a shop/builder about doing this build for ya??

  6. It's sad that Bob doesn't own the van anymore, that thing was an absolute monster in the 2 classes that he ran it in. The craziest thing about him basically having the loudest bassrace vehicle in the world(at the time, before A-Team this past season), was that he drove it to every show also. That big blue van was the furthest thing from a trailer queen that just comes out to put up some huge score. Truthfully it was prolli the loudest(bassrace + burp) legit daily driven vehicle on the planet when he still owned it.

  7. just cuz they look super beefy it dont mean they going to be the best shits in the world... i hope they are if they are then im gettin some lol. end of story

I couldn't agree more with this statement... I'd love for them to be everything they've been hyped up to be and the CA world to have a new technology to play around with some. Of course I thoroughly enjoy playing around with new woofers on the market, so I'm hoping to get my hands on one of these depending on the success.

  8. you right mane. I am trying to get a lot of stock pics and I don't want to miss ANY it means a lot to me to have stock before and customized after pics. So I feel ya. I am running 6 18's I have 2 in officially Fi forgot to send my other 2 and Scott is hooking a brotha up and a secret person is selling me my other 2. 2010 all should be in. Hey I know it's lame but I just made a rhyme with out trying. But for real 01-2010 all 6 should be here. I am nervous about what amps I will run. And Steve's new subs are definantly putting my subs to shame. lol Throw me some ideas on amps. My goal is to do 3 amps big amps 20k+ watts, but if not I will run 6 amps.

Could someone please do a list. That would help me a GREAT DEAL

So far I have thought about:

    3 amp setup:

    3 Rd D9's

    3 IA 40.1's

    6 amp setup:

    6 Sundown 3500's

    6 AQ 3500's

6 DAT still figuring out which ones

My amp suggestion is 3 American Bass VFL500.1s... Will be running like 2500w per sub, very high build quality, great customer service, and a good price. I've run AB amps for years now and have never had any issues with them and I'm not exactly easy on my equipment.

  9. Got you I will do it when Steve's thread is a little worn. (Probably never lol) but I don't want people to think I am trying to get attention right now. Good idea though I will take final pics of the truck tomorrow. Thanks mane I have taken a lot of shit lately. lol

I highly doubt that people think that you're looking for attention by finally starting an official build thread... Just get all your pics almost as like a before type shot, so you can do the compare once it's all done.

Btw I thought you were running 6 18s??

  10. 99.9% of the time it doesnt matter...

When I had 36 American Bass VFL150.1's in my Cadillac I blew a couple up. (The gold amps)

I was scratching my head and finally figure the problem out...

That particular amp will NOT handle any voltage over 17.or so.. When I had my charger on and it went over 18 volts i popped some amps. I charged the batts up to 20.8 all nite long with the amps off and had absolutely no problems. It only happened when the amps were on and the voltage was higher than the mid 17's. I had 16 volt batteries by the way.

But in your case.... your charging 12 volt batteries so there is little if no worry about the amps.

The gold case VFL150.1s IMO are some of the best amps ever made... I've own 4 of them and still kept 2 because of how much I loved them. I literally beat the shit out of them and they still kept running like they were BNIB. I've burped them as low as .25ohms and they made some monster #s on 12v, when they were on 16v it was just insane to say the least.

  11. there is plenty of people in the high 50's with 1 solo x 18 and im sure also 60's there might be a few.. i would have to research a little bit..

lol well i know you were kidding anyway about the noob shit but you should try bass raciing its fun

and i was just saying because the shows i go to the highest anybody hits is a 58.7 or so and only time u will really see high 60's and shit is like world finals and what not. im not too expert in this so most of your questions r mine too lol.. but i research every now and then so i can back my self up at times

Please show me the plenty of people doing high 150s w/ a single Solo 18, let alone doing 160s... Now you're just talking out of your ass.

Also no one has done a legal bassrace beyond like 162 or so... There's only been like 5 guys who have ever done a 159.9 legal score and around that same number that can do a 160+ bassrace in the world.
