  1. I tin some of my wires, If I have an issue with them. If There's no issues, I don't worry about it.

On the terminal thing...... If you have a properly soldered terminal, it's not coming off under normal use. There's no reason to crimp it. Crimping only makes it unusable if you ever have to change the length of a wire.

Even properly soldered, the mechanical bond that crimping allows is still needed. Terminals are cheap enough to buy in bulk, a solder joint isnt as good if its not crimped. But we all do it different ways, I just do it how I was taught in my ICAR classes.

  2. Forgot to add, its still not done yet, I will hopefully be painting the box within the next week or so. The sundown should be here on friday?? And the wiring doesn't really look like that, I took that pic while I was taking out all the old wiring.

All pictures were taken with my blackberry, so they aren't hi res. More pictures and a video to come when its all finished....

A big thanks to Ken for making it happen, he definitely put a lot of time into this.

  3. New set up is a huge upgrade from the old one...

1/0 Front to back, including the big 3. It's mostly routed under the truck and out of the way.

Mids are powered by an MTX and are getting around 100rms. I am looking to get a better amp for them and another set of components to keep up with the lows.

Subs are custom built by Ken, the Nor Cal Sundown Rep aka Forevrbumpin. Hopefully he can chime in with a little more info about them.

The subs are currently running off an Infinity 611a, way underpowered but it still sounds great.

I ordered a Sundown SAE-1200D, and can't wait till it gets here to really wake the subs up

  4. gogojjt

k, thanks, steven...i was looking for some more technical advice, not a jackass comment from a douchebag like you. if i wanted to be cool, i would put on a pink shirt, pop my collar and jack off to gay porn like you do. i was looking for it to be functional and i happen to like the old school ways, as i am oldschool and dont want my little red button to just glow, i want it to start my car moron. once again thanks, thanks for wasting my time.

  5. I have an 08 Yam R6, I don't suggest getting a 600 or 1000 if you don't feel confident. They are easy to ride once they get moving.

But going slow, parking lots u-turns are where you will run into problems with a sportbike.

If that Yam 250 is street legal that would be a great choice. Kawasucky also has a 250 ninja that would be great also. The 08-09s, I think changed the styling alot and it looks more like the Gizzer 600 and 1000s.

That Gizzer styled 250 or the Yam 250 will handle better then a 600 and 10x better then a 1000. They are lightweight and have a good amount of power. If I came across one i'd love to pick one up, they are a blast to ride.

A cruiser such as a harley is also an option if you like the sound of wet farts  Yamaha makes a warrior, it would be a great cruiser. It will eat harleys all day and look great doing it.

    Yes I am biased...

Regardless what you end up riding, take the MSF class. It really can save your life.

  6. Heh actually I work at SLAP... was just wondering where you got it cos I know SSZ (Streetsoundz) was pushing a lot of them.

I'll probably be down there working on an SPL build on Saturday afternoon... if you wanna swing by and get some ideas you're welcome to. Just flick me a txt in case I get on the turps on Friday night and don't make it down there

What is this turps you speak of? I'm going to have to guess...alcohol? I don't think turpentine is drinkable. But I have seen people drink mouthwash so I guess you never know lol

  7. Sorry about you're wreck. People drive crazy in the rain but it keeps us busy at work so its all good!

I do bodywork for a living. Even from a pic like that there is clearly frame damage. You can order as many parts as you want but chances are, nothing will fit or line up untill that structural damage is repaired.

That is indeed a trans or power steering cooler that is sticking out. If it isnt kinked or damaged you should be able to move it back into place. The hard lines connect to rubber hoses so it is somewhat flexible.

Insurance is prob going to total that tho...
