  1. I took it to a guy who knows a lot about car audio and he checked it out, rewired it, and fixed it. I believe the last one was out of phase and was the reason the excursion was the way it was. I talked to him for a while and he gave me some great ideas on how to get the most out of the size of my car. He said to either go with four 10" subwoofers in a sealed box, or two 12" subwoofers in a small ported box.

    I think you should do what YOU want to do not what everyone else wants you to do. I mean, you're spending thousands of dollars on something that you want someone else to choose? Do what you want to do and get what you think is best for you.

  3. Kicker, Alpine, Pioneer, Orion, Rockford Fosgate, and a few other brands have great starter subwoofers, but if possible, learn what each brand is good for. Kenwood makes decent starter amplifiers and some headunits, Alpine is known for having quality products all around (headunits, speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, the works basically), Rockford Fosgate has outstanding amplifiers, and so forth. Some will disagree, but it's all up to you what want, but stay away from Pyle, Boss, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

  4. Okay, you should put some of your budget aside for an alarm if you don't have one already, it's not fun spending a lot of money and it being stolen later. For a beginner setup, there is a lot of ways to do this. For example, I currently have two 10" Kicker CompVR's in a 3.5 cubic foot ported box, tuned to 38hz paired with a Kenwood KAC-9104D with 900W RMS @ 2-ohms. I also have a hatchback and it's pretty loud, but it could vary for your car. I would suggest you get a four gauge wiring kit for you amp, I like Rockford Fosgate's because they seem reasonably priced for the quality in my opinion. You may be thinking you could be spending a lot of money, but I like to shop at SonicElectronix.com because they are one of the cheapest "name brand" sellers on the internet that I've found.

  5. I have a set of 10" Kicker CompVR's in this massive (for a hatchback) 3.5 cubic foot box that is tuned to 40hz. This may not seem large, but it takes up the entire trunk and I didn't want to sacrifice seating. This is a huge upgrade from the 1.8 cubic foot sealed box that I had the subwoofers previously in. I didn't have the proper tools to make it perfect, but it's as close as i can get to perfect since I used a Skilz saw and a jig saw. I will make a video of the results if enough people request it.

  6. This box design that I came up with was influenced by Steve Meade's and Johnathan Price's boxes. It is designed around a 1988 Volkswagen Golf GL and four 10" Ascendant Audio Chaos Dual 2-ohms with a 6" aero port and are wired in 1-ohm to a Rockford Fosgate T2500-1BD amp. It's six cubic feet loaded (with subwoofers and port installed) and is tuned to 34hz. I'm mainly creating this topic to get input to make this box perform better. I know some of you will suggest a slot port, but to allow the box to visually "flow" better, I prefer a aero port. So, if you have any thoughts that will allow for better, even amounts of SQ and SPL, reply away!

  7. I'm new to building sub boxes. I have an idea for one, it contains four ported enclosures for 10" subs. The two smaller enclosures are abviously is to get the tighter bass, and the larger enclosures for the deeper bass. I would hook up the smaller enclosures together up to one amp, and another amp to the larger enclosures. I already did the math and all of the enclosures are within the box requirements, I even dew it up in a CAD program just to see what it would look like. What I was wondering was if I did build this, would it sound good and work?
