i deserved that

i was going to do that a couple of months ago but forgot i just nuted up when i seen them burning because i had just hooked up a new amp. i will be geting them gooped up now.

i think i found the problem the nuts were loose that hold the wires on the back of the sub box. i thightend them up and retried for ten minutes and they stayed cold the whole time. my subs do get warm and i dont smell coil but i may have smelled a little tonight and man do i have a burnt finger lol.

it may be she was realy hot and the amp was staying right at 14.4 volts

i just hooked up new out of the box audiopipe 3001 amp to one of my level 5s i set the gains with a 40hz test tone and a multi meter then i ran it hard but not wrong just hard while i was on the third song i noticed my wire conectors on the back of the sub box sparking and smoking they are quarter 20 bolts with triple nuts. 6 guage speaker wire. i shut down the system right away and felt the dust cap on that sub and it was hot also. so do i have a bad amp and if so how do i check that out by my calculations i was runing less than 1500 wats into that DC sub i have seen amps do things like this before but dont know why and i did burn one of my fingers pretty good when i checked to see if the nuts were just loose that was before i found the hot dust cap. the wires at the amp end were not hot but almost melting at the sub end. could it be that the 6 guage wire is not enough for the DCs

what class will i have to enter and what type of compitition should i try? i have never competed but i have read the rules and i am going to the next comp within 200 miles of central ohio. it looks like street exstreme because i have a full size van. my curent setup is 2 sets of pioneer comps in the lower door panels on a 4 chanel amp 2 DC level 5s 18" on four 3000.1 audiopipes, box tuned @39hz 2 ho alts 4 batts. will i need a engine kill switch like i read and if so where would you hook up a kill switch

thanks for the pics man i know thats a lot of work editing and all you do real good with that stuff thanks again. all that audio equiptment and yet nothing even close to being as cool as a level 5 DC

there is another thread about this same thing happening to my subs. one of mine had come out of the box and it had chips bigger than the ones you took pics of. you can file a claim from what i hear if its fed ex they will come back and pick up the sub and the box it was in and keep them for a long time while they are supossably looking into what went wrong. then they may or probably may not do anything about the situation. in my case it would have been easy to prove that fed ex did the damage because one box was good and the other was ripped to shreds. the problem was that fed ex would have screwed me over for mounths waiting for resalution. they screwed the wrong guy here though because i make decisions about shiping for a very large company any guesses who dont get my bussiness now? sorry you had this happen to you i just went through the same thing my thread was called stupid fed ex guy.

you will get to see another build soon with DC amps. 2 of the 3000.1s on two level 5s then two more on two more level 5s. total of four each. my builds are nice but my picture and vidios lack a lot so when i post up some good stuff i am going to have a pro do them vids. i put a girl in a grass skirt on my dash the other day and my 18" level 5s can blow her grass skirt strait up cool as hell but i cant get the vidio part right. i am betting that rusty can get you all the DC amps here soon. i want to be sporten all DC this spring when i start hiten da shows.

ofcourse not and i am just using them for break in soon as Rusty gets gets some new amps up for sale around the first of the year i will get two nice amps from him. i can use these old amps for loosening up my chit. i am climbing in and out working on walling it all and adding two more 18s so if something happens to one of these amps it aint no big deal.

nothing to great right now one is on a 1000w memphis mono its a real strong amp but not enough for the level 5 other side is a big audiobahn mono thats claimed to put out 3200w but i know it dosnt

i am up two around 15 hours worth of break in time now i can see more excursion and sounds a lil better i have a guy thats going to do some vidio soon as we both get time. i interupted a meeting at work yesterday by doing a demo in the parking lot outside our confrence room. some women came out to tell me to knock it off but the guy i was giving a demo was our CEO so they went back inside without oppening their yaps. i heard that the lights in the building were even turning off and on.

i have four hours on my two 18" level 5s at half power they have broke a wooden cup holder off of my engine cover and sucked my dome light out of the roof of the van. i guess the van wasnt broke in yet lol i cant even imagine four of these at full power. thanks DC audio i am trully in love with these subs.

i think these subs from DC are built so good that even fedex cant destroy them.

its 6.6 per sub. each will will have its own box and i must have been thinking ahead when i typed in four cause i only have two so far i want two more latter towards spring time i guess
