what exactly does an alternator do?
he produce the elctrical energy for al electrical items in ur car, and an H/O = high output alternator, std alternator is arround 100 amps(a good one), think would be nice if u get a 200-250 amps H/O alt.
I forgot the firm XS, there can u look for a second battery in the trunk as well.

Nah man I'm just a high school kid that wants a good system that can bump hard. because I really enjoy bass. I thought 2-15s was a good idea but maybe I should go with 12s?
Tahn go with the Audioqueadvice, there a lot of good subs and amps for ur pricerange, Audioque is well known as burner in price/perfomance.

ok dude. I apologize for being such a dumbass, but I literally know jack shit about car audio. so if you could enlighten me that would be wonderful.
Not a dumbass, but with 2.5 k $ and ur own handscraft u can do a good beginner system, or do u want to competite on SPL-competitions(SPL=soundpressurelevle), or its only to
have big bass in car and shitsound out of the originalspeakers, or did u want a good sq (soundqality-system).
Tell us what u want and what is in ur car now. And than everything easy

I dont call it bashing I call it educating, there are tons of people that come here everyday, they used to all want BTL's and 15Krms, now they all want SMD's and more power, but most(not all) or thier previous systems where a pioneer 12 on a sony 1000watt amp, and they dont release the kind of financial investment it is for a system of that caliber, so sometimes I may come off as a smartass but its not like 10000rms is gonna power it self off of a 90 amp alt and AC Delco Battery.
I know, i know, i know, not tons but every day 1, 2, 3.

LAWLZ I could of kept going and going, But I figure for a reliable 5-10K rms daily driver figure about 10,000 dollars, if its less then great, but it probably wont be more, unless that is your are trying to do a 10K system with all UL equipment LOL.

Close LOL, I was gonna say about a grand a piece for the subs, probably between 1500-2000 on the amp, 2 H.O. Alts thats another 1K, and 3or4 D3100, which is about 1200-1500, oh cant forget the wiring 400 for 0/1 guage(running 2 runs or power and ground of course), Misc box materials/speaker wire, another 150. Then after you need mids and highs to keep up with that kind of bass...........
So you see having a system that big can add up really really fast.

A friend of mine is getting out of the military and is selling a 15" BTL w/ triple stack in a pretty decsent prefab box. It is constructed out of 1" mdf and is around 4 cube. I was thinking of getting for my wife's f-150. He is only asking $100.00 for it all. What do you guys think?

Upgrade first ur electrical, BIIG 3 in O/1 gauge,
2. change ur batt under the hood, take the biggest and best what u can place, (Kinetik, XS, Stinger), maby u can get a nice offer in the "want to sale section"
Than can u switch to a second woofer and later u can put a second battery in the trunk together with better or H/O alt. So u can go step by step.

How many amps are 1130 Watts at 12.5 volt is = ...? And what gauge is right??? 1/0 gauge is right, electrical saftynes is one of the most important thinks in caraudio, in case of carbeque.If he shared the power in the trunk with a fuseblock to 4 gauge is ok for each amp.
