  1. Been over this many different times,but lets go over it one more time. With the 12V batteries the D and S series batteries are the same exact battery. Only differences are the D series has blue decals and no terminals (you can buy the 580 or 586 terminals if you want), and the S series has red decals and comes with terminals.

    14v and 16V S and D series are different. The S Series are the light weight racing batteries where the D series are the heavier weight versions with more reserve capacity as far as mobile audio goes.

    XP series is only made for secondary battery applications and not made to be used under the hood.The XP series will give you the reserve capacity you need, but does not have the instantaneous power that the D series has. You would see a difference on the meter, but probably never hear the difference in a daily use/demo vehicle.

  2. More smaller batteries will give you more instantaneous power, because when you buss them together it optimizes the internal pressure. If you had equal reserve the higher number of smaller batteries will be stronger by far. It will also be more expensive and more work.

    So, about 22 D680s or 16 D925 or D975 would be a strong option.

  3. The charger will basically read the condition of the battery and then either work as a charger or a maintainer. It will charge when the batteries are low and then go into float mode when the batteries are charged in order to maintain their voltage.

    Biggest difference between them and your Battery Tender Jr. is the ability for an Intellicharger to actually charge the batteries properly. the Tender Jr. only acts as a maintainer, because it isn't able to produce the amperage needed to charge a battery all the way up if it is discharged. The Intellicharger will both charge and maintain the batteries.

  4. If your charger is in green, then it should be in maintenance mode. If you have a bank or there is a small draw, then when you turn it off and back on it may go amber for a second or two and then go back to green.

    Best is to just put a clamp on the charger positive cord when it is in green and see what it is doings. Should be low 13v range and around 1-3amps depending on where it is in the cycle.
