  1. Get some rims! Those expeditions look so much better with a nice drop and set of wheels lol

But good work on the tint.

I know dude! she needs them bad. Was going to have somebody slash my junk tires so I would have an excuse to do a set of wheels n tires on her.

  2. Ok now the truth can be told.....For the record- We've had 4 explorers and 2 expeditions.

You have the smallest, restricted V8- in the second largest SUV ford makes.

You Have added a shithouse of a system I assume.

You WILL....NOT.....EVER get decent gas milage....period.

If you DO upgrade the truck's performance you will most likely gas it a little more in an attempt to get the acceleration your brain and equilibrium feel you should be getting.

A tune alone...is a huge waste of money. Don't even think that...no...no no no...no no.

Any mechanic who knows this subject will tell you (if he's not after just your money) that a tune is the last thing done when mod'ing a vehicle. The tune is a culmination of all the mods done, it brings the computer system up to par with what the mechanical system can now achieve. Tuning now, means that to get the best results from future mods you would need to get a new tune at a later date, wasting yourself money.

If I were you...and gas milage was my biggest concern....I would...(in a decent order regarding price)

First- go buy one of these: http://www.scangauge.com/ and mount it on your gauges- so you can see how much your driving is effecting the gas milage.

Second- second go here http://www.modifiedexpedition.com/ and get and exhaust and intanke. Or get another comparable intake and a custom exhaust.

DONT FORGET- this is the best time to do headers if you plan on it, if you have the thought- go ahead and don't waste money.

like: http://www.lmperformance.com/19640/52.html or whatever you find-

Third- make sure your tires are the right style for your driving, ie- if you aren't driving in snow or mud a lot- not a need for 32" M/Ts :)

Fourth- highway usage- this is a difficult choice. If you don't spend time at speeds of 70mph a lot, lower gears could help your in town milage. As long as you don't romp it constantly. Meaning- same amount of fuel as normal, will accelerate you to a lower speed quicker, at the expense of gas milage at higher rpms.

    Fifth- Get a tune. A real...in house...real person...tune. a Man Tune if you will. :)

Now, will you see a huge difference? maybe. But you will defiantly feel a difference, if you can keep from romp'in the sob, you should achieve what you're looking for.

thanks for the reply man, no system in it anymore but yeah.

  3. I can't believe i didn't think of this before, but most the guys in my Mustang club are using underdrive pullies. There are kits for the Mustang 4.6, so check if there is a kit for either of your vehicles. This kit minimizes the amount of strain your accessories put on the motor, freeing up power.

yes! steeda pullies! going to have to order those up because everyone on crownvic.net recommends them right away.

  4. custom tune.

Hands down best bang for the buck

That's what I was thinking. Because my only regret with buying this Expedition is the fact that it has the 4.6... If it had the 5.4 I wouldn't be complaining. Was hoping to do a few performance mods to bump up the HP but a used 5.4 is about $1200 around here so if it gets to the point where I would need to put that much money into it just in upgrades, I might as well just buy the motor. I can swap it myself.

Basically looking to be around 255-265 HP from my current 215-220. Shouldn't be too hard of a task in my opinion. Tune should really do the trick.

  5. Tranny's are a common problem on this bodystyle Taurus. I've replaced a couple of them. Clogged cat could also make it act funny. You may think its the trans but a clogged cat can make the engine stutter weirdly and make it seem like the trans not wanting to go. Smell your exhaust, if it smells like sulfur(like a fart) then the cat is clogged up.

Check the tranny fluid again and tell me what the color looks like and what it smells like exactly. If it has a hint of burnt smell at all then your trans could be the culprit. It's tricky to tell what the smell is really like because most Fords use Mercon V which smells like dinosaur shit, and can sometimes smell burnt. But again, let me know.

  6. I have one for sale on ebay right now -I'll sell it to you for $450 shipped-let me know before auction ends in 5 days.

That sounds really tempting.. My birthday is on Wednesday and I'm expecting some cashola so I'll definitely hit you up then.
