i know that, Pi(r^2)
but i wanted to add in the extra area from the dip in the cone and stuff, seeing how a speaker isnt really flat. im sure it makes quite a difference and thats what i needed help with.
pir^2 would be a good estimate but yes most definatly cone area would be differnet becaue of the curvature.

Ok I just started 2nd semester my junior year high school. My second semester in Advanced Physics. First semester I dabled in the acoustical side of a box for my independent project. Click here to view the post. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...=64923&st=0. This semester i have to do an electronics kind of thing. So what should I do? Maybe like a sensor for some interior LED's to make them flash to the bass or something small like that. I am open to any and all suggestions though and I appreciate any suggestions. Also, no videos yet from the box. I havent made it to the store yet to buy some caulking. The plexi window that is on the top and slanted face is letting out too much air. When I put some stuff in the path it almost doubled the volume so yes the box works but not 100% yet. I need caulk.
Edit: Part about vids and box.
Edit 2: I plan on majoring in eletrical engineering with a minor in acoustical engineering so even if you might find it challenging for a junior in high school toss it up becuase I would love a challenge. I do have a base of understanding with circuits and electronics, but by no means am I saying that I know everything. I know i have a metric ton to learn.

Hey steve comin out to the Midwest anytime soon? lol just playing im sure your too busy for that. What do you do for your other job? Just curious you always reference it.
-
Well I should have been more blunt about it... it's COMPLETELY false.
Flow of electricity (well, current) is distributed proportionately to the resistance of the path.
If it always took the path of least resistance and one of your speaker wires was slightly shorter than the other then the other speaker wouldn't get any power, right? Which isn't the case.
If you hook up a 100 ohm resistor in parallel with a 100k resistor there will still be some current through the 100k...
True, are you an electrical engineer?

ya it is
Foung him, added him, thanks.

2000lade is in Lafyette Im over there every now and again
OK im assuming that his name on here is 2000lade? Ill add him

yes sir! and i though "laffy" was close to kokomo, <--- i been there a few times and it take 1hr and a half...unless im wrong
Oh ya Kokomo is like 45min from laffy and i live 45 min on the other side so ya prolly more like 3 to 4 hours to South Bend stil a long ass drive
-
South Bend is like 5 hours from me unless there is two and i dont know of one. But ya ive been up there a few times used to have family up there.
I thought u lived in Lafayette.
Well, outside of Laffy but isnt south bend like a half hour from michigan?
-
I live in the same town as cubfan0718. hit us up if you need anything done. hopfully not now though it is cold as fuck out
Yeah i agree and cold as fuck it putting it mildly. I would say more like freezing ball sack or shit fuck cold and the wind is horrible here we are already lossing some siding around windows.
Yeah that sounds good im working on some stuff in my car and ill see how everything turns out.
-
Well whenever u decide what ur gonna do let me know id like to travel to see ur setup, and if u need help u can always message me and ask, i'd be glad to stop down and help.
Will do im working on a box right now ill let you know when its done.
I live in south bend, around a half an hr away! i dont kno about sponsor tho sry on dat...South Bend is like 5 hours from me unless there is two and i dont know of one. But ya ive been up there a few times used to have family up there.
-
Will do, if ur seats fold down id leave that shit in the trunk if it would fit, unless ur back seat area isnt that important to u.
Nope they dont fold down but i could make them do so and no backseat doesnt matter to me it is usually full of useless crap anyway...idk could do a wall but probably not idk im just kinda between a rock and a hard place.

i went to US41 raceway in 08 and they had a little comp there i did'nt have a big enough fuse on my power wire so it was like a burp and i hit 142.1 and it hadnt hit my freq yet cant remember if that was when i still had my 1500watt amp or my 2500watt amp but i know it is hitting way harder than that now. I really only hear about sound comps at the last second or after they happen but next time i hear of 1 im deffinitly going.
You should let me know if you hear of any and ill do the same i would like to compete but i know 500 RMS in the trunk aint gonna do jack shit at a comp i am working towards 2 15's in the back seat but that wont be for a while.
-
whatever road connects off 41 thats the way i take when i go that way.
Ya man i live off of 41 thats awesome. You compete in any comps?
-
I Live about an hour from there, cant answer your sponsorship question.
Im not actually in Laffy I live 5 mi from Illinois border out by Boswell in Benton County (saw your from Illinois) do you ever take SR 352 to Lafayette?
-
Is there any members on this forum who live by Lafayette, Indiana or anywhere remotely close? Seems like almost everyone here lives in CA or out west cant find anyone near me but im sure there has to be someone...Another question whats it take/how to get a sponsor or sponsors?
-
Industrial strength Velcro ftw.
*not my car btw
Nice im thinking of putting them at an angle kinda sorta in the trunk there is a little space not sure i could fit them there though. whatever i figure out ill post into the build log when i post it if you guys care. The box i made is quite intriguing so ill prolly post it in this board but idk. Ill see what i come up with. One thing that would look sic is if i cut out part of the back of the front seats and installed an amp rack there which would be sic looking but idk if i have enough mdf/wire to do so atm and i am cramped on cash. IDk just thought I'd bounce some ideas off you guys and see what bounces back...my G-ma works a a factory that make almost all the seat for subaru's that come out of Indiana she could get me some indust strength velcro.
-
How about underneath your front seats? A buddy of mine did that in high school and let me tell ya no thief ever got that amp out!Just put it on the box. Get some rubber legs and put a piece of 3/4 MDF board first.
All about you can do I guess.
Or under the seat like someone already said.
I have an idea for where im going to put them but if it doesnt pan out ill defintalty keep under the seat as an option...What would i screw to if they were under the seat?
-
Ya I guess that could work I've got my old amp rack and half a sheet of mdf left so I'm sure I'll figure something out I can get pretty creative.
-
Ok the car is a 1988 Regal. My box takes up the entire trunk therefore, back of seats is a no go and they don't fold down so definatley a no go. The wheel well is out because I need my spare bcuz I have a bad tire and I live in the country so if I get a flat it's me and the road. I also think that they amps would look good on the underside of the trunk lid. Do you think it would harm the audio at all?
-
Ok so I've come to a realization. After I get my new box in (hopefully friday) im not going to have anywhere to put my amps. So i was thinking i could bolt them to the trunk lid. Does anyone see a problem with that? I cant think of any effect it would have but i just want to double check. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
