  1. hello. i got 2 12" type r's. looking on getting a custom ported box. i know someone that makes custom boxes. he can build be one for $160 (maybe $150), but that is without the carpet. i think he will charge me an extra $30. OR i can get this prefab box for $150 im looking at on ebay check it out: dual ported box.<-- you think this box will hit the lows notes good? that is what im aiming for. and oh the guy is going to double baffle (3/4 mdf) the box. honestly i dont know how to put carpet on a box, but if you know cheap and easy way to do please let me know. and no i dont want to make the box on my own, pretty sure its a great learning experience but i dont have the tools yadada. thanks for your time.

  2. i have 2 hx2's 10 in a VT box and those lil bitches would slam and get loud and clean. but still like my RESX's

which model of SX you got new or old ones? i had the one, the old basket style kind. hit the lows nice :D. the only thing that i didnt like at all, that the holes you put the screws were to close to the rubber surround. when i drilled the screws in, the screw tore some of the rubber. i should of used a screw with a smaller head/screws. how does your 2 sound, ported sealed?

  3. if this equipment are going into a trunk... i would recomnend a pair of 12s... if you can the RE SXX 12s... then upgrade your amp later...

you could fit a RE SEX 15" sub in a 4.5 cube box... but youll only get 810 cm^2 of cone... compared to a pair of RE SXX 12"s in 4.5 cubes... youll get 480 x 2 = 960 cm^2 of cone area...

just remember... its all about the box design and build quality...

dont be afraid to try and design and build your own box...

i would get a pair of 12's even if its the RE SEX 12s, build a box to 4.5 cubes before displacement , with anywhere from 45 to 63 sq inches of port(id say go with 54)...

u think that re sex 15" will slam?

  4. i would go with RE...

theres a ton of great brands out there... Sundown, DC audio are both on this forum...

SPL vs SQ isnt dependent on the woofer, its on the box design...

i would recommened to build the box yourself.. its a great learning experience...

couple things we need to know before making anymore suggestions...

    1.Hows your electrical?

2.How much room do you have to work with??

a pair of 12s has more cone area then a single 15... something you may want to consider...

my electrical isnt all that, its all stock. 70a alt and duralast battery. i got a kicker 750.1. yeah i was thinking on getting a pair of 10's or 12's. like 2 T1 10's i was thinking about.

  5. RE Audio SEX15D4 or Alpine Type-R 15?

im looking for more SPL, but still maintaining SQ. i have know a guy that makes custom boxes, im going for ported. open to any opinions. i know their is plenty of better subs but im on a budget and still doing my research, just need a 2nd opinion. thanks.

  6. I have a Sundown SAE1200d.. I went from a Rockford Fosgate T10001bd to the Sundown SAE-1200d and the Sundown amp was a very noticeable difference better then the Rockford Fosgate T10001bd. I have upgraded again since the Sundown amp though.

I have nothing but good things to say about Sundown.. very good equipment. and from actually using a Sundown SAE-1200D you would be very happy with it.

oops replied to the wrong person.

what about the SAE-1000D, does it put out more than its rated? is it a powerful amp? anything sundown amps are good to go right? or what? thanks.

so would you say the SAE-1000D puts out more than 1000rms @ 1ohm? if i can get one for $215, is that a good deal or what?

  8. Four gauge is fine for the big 3 with what you are running. If you ever decide to run 5kw+ and need a few hundred amps of current, upgrade to 1/0. How long of a run is it from your battery to your alternator, 3-5 feet max?

batt. to alt is about hmmm for sure no long than 5 feet. so toss out the cap asap? yeah looks like i will have to invest on my electrical. so alt first than the biggest batt. under the hood? i wanted just H/O alt and one big battery setup, and a 2k-3k watt system. but you never know, you know how it is "we just want more" lol. but yeah around 2k-3k watts is what im aiming for in the future. i seen a guy on youtube, he's running 2500k just with a hc1800 and a 260 amp Ohio Ben alt. thanks people for all the replies. i appreciate it for your time.
