my EQ is wired up with my car's stock wire harness. i used a closed end cap connector. same as my headunit too. i couldnt find a solid ground/car's chassis around my dash.
-
with the first EQ, did the problem occur the first time/install? what amp ur using for the mids/highs?
-
where did you ground the EQ?
-
TO BAD U DONT HAVE THE TOOLS U COULD SAVE ALOT OF MONEY U WOULD SPEND LIKE 80 TOPS TO MAKE IT

It cost be 30 bucks for MDF + Wood Glue to make an enclosure.
Make your own homie it's worth the experience.
dang i would man, but i dont even got the right tools :\. how are your R's sounding like?
-
PS, the hair trick in my avatar was done with 2 type-r 12s on 1600 watts. That was before I bought DCs:)
dang that is awesome. never seen R's doing hair tricks. what amp were you using? and what car was it? thanks.

100 for that btl?? that is a steal forrrrreeal.
-
probably just throw a bat or two in the back and run the stock alt for the time being. I have a zx2500.1 lying around I will throw on it...
your signature says "H/O" and "5 batteries? what are they brand?
-

hello. i got 2 12" type r's. looking on getting a custom ported box. i know someone that makes custom boxes. he can build be one for $160 (maybe $150), but that is without the carpet. i think he will charge me an extra $30. OR i can get this prefab box for $150 im looking at on ebay check it out: dual ported box.<-- you think this box will hit the lows notes good? that is what im aiming for. and oh the guy is going to double baffle (3/4 mdf) the box. honestly i dont know how to put carpet on a box, but if you know cheap and easy way to do please let me know. and no i dont want to make the box on my own, pretty sure its a great learning experience but i dont have the tools yadada. thanks for your time.

i have 2 hx2's 10 in a VT box and those lil bitches would slam and get loud and clean. but still like my RESX's
which model of SX you got new or old ones? i had the one, the old basket style kind. hit the lows nice . the only thing that i didnt like at all, that the holes you put the screws were to close to the rubber surround. when i drilled the screws in, the screw tore some of the rubber. i should of used a screw with a smaller head/screws. how does your 2 sound, ported sealed?

if this equipment are going into a trunk... i would recomnend a pair of 12s... if you can the RE SXX 12s... then upgrade your amp later...
you could fit a RE SEX 15" sub in a 4.5 cube box... but youll only get 810 cm^2 of cone... compared to a pair of RE SXX 12"s in 4.5 cubes... youll get 480 x 2 = 960 cm^2 of cone area...
just remember... its all about the box design and build quality...
dont be afraid to try and design and build your own box...
i would get a pair of 12's even if its the RE SEX 12s, build a box to 4.5 cubes before displacement , with anywhere from 45 to 63 sq inches of port(id say go with 54)...
u think that re sex 15" will slam?
-
i would go with RE...
theres a ton of great brands out there... Sundown, DC audio are both on this forum...
SPL vs SQ isnt dependent on the woofer, its on the box design...
i would recommened to build the box yourself.. its a great learning experience...
couple things we need to know before making anymore suggestions...
1.Hows your electrical?
2.How much room do you have to work with??
a pair of 12s has more cone area then a single 15... something you may want to consider...
my electrical isnt all that, its all stock. 70a alt and duralast battery. i got a kicker 750.1. yeah i was thinking on getting a pair of 10's or 12's. like 2 T1 10's i was thinking about.
-
you need to be open to more options that just 2
well i said open to any opinions. got any? let it ride . thanks.
-
RE Audio SEX15D4 or Alpine Type-R 15?
im looking for more SPL, but still maintaining SQ. i have know a guy that makes custom boxes, im going for ported. open to any opinions. i know their is plenty of better subs but im on a budget and still doing my research, just need a 2nd opinion. thanks.

I have a Sundown SAE1200d.. I went from a Rockford Fosgate T10001bd to the Sundown SAE-1200d and the Sundown amp was a very noticeable difference better then the Rockford Fosgate T10001bd. I have upgraded again since the Sundown amp though.
I have nothing but good things to say about Sundown.. very good equipment. and from actually using a Sundown SAE-1200D you would be very happy with it.
oops replied to the wrong person.
what about the SAE-1000D, does it put out more than its rated? is it a powerful amp? anything sundown amps are good to go right? or what? thanks.

so would you say the SAE-1000D puts out more than 1000rms @ 1ohm? if i can get one for $215, is that a good deal or what?
-
SAE-1200D cannot be strapped -- it is significantly more powerful than the SAZ-1000D but is WAY bigger physically. The SAE-1200D could legitimately be called a 1500 watt amp.

or check the fuse on that EQ, see if its damaged. mines blew and it sounded all nasty. right now im not running a fuse on the EQ X]. its working fine without one.
-
For what you have now, you are fine. If you are going to throw out the kicker 750, and get a 2-3kw amp, upgrade your big 3 to 1/0 IF you upgrade your alternator.
nice nice i will keep that in mind for sure. did you see that alt i posted on one of my replies? what do you think? its a Iraggi Dominator series 180 amp alt. the seller says it does 110-130 amps @ idle.
-
lol on the price of that alt. talk to Dom on here Dom
shoot him a pm and He'll get you a better deal on that alt.
nice. i already talked to through email. he said he can give me a 10% discount, i told him im a member on here. that sounds legit? oh btw, what do you think about that alt?
-
Still my stand.
if i were to get a H/O alt and do the big 3 in 0 ga. what kind of differences will i see?
please check out this alt. cheapest one i can find that is a known brand out there: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220489683226&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Four gauge is fine for the big 3 with what you are running. If you ever decide to run 5kw+ and need a few hundred amps of current, upgrade to 1/0. How long of a run is it from your battery to your alternator, 3-5 feet max?
batt. to alt is about hmmm for sure no long than 5 feet. so toss out the cap asap? yeah looks like i will have to invest on my electrical. so alt first than the biggest batt. under the hood? i wanted just H/O alt and one big battery setup, and a 2k-3k watt system. but you never know, you know how it is "we just want more" lol. but yeah around 2k-3k watts is what im aiming for in the future. i seen a guy on youtube, he's running 2500k just with a hc1800 and a 260 amp Ohio Ben alt. thanks people for all the replies. i appreciate it for your time.
-
if i would of done the big 3 in the first place, would their have been a difference? i did the big 3 in 4 gauge b/c i thought it would matter if i did it in 0 gauge due to having stock electrical. should i do the big 3 in 0 gauge when i replace my battery under the hood?

ohh i bet that made it 10 times louder lol. you think a RE SE 15 (600rms/1200max) will be louder than 2 12" R's?
