Imo there is no universal best place for the meter. Just hook it to whatever you wanna monitor. Whether it be the amp, front batt, head unit, etc... Make sure you set the meter with a dmm to get accurate reading.
can you please explain how to set it with a dmm?
do i use that dmm meter on the battery and whatever the reading is i adjust it to the stinger meter?

where is the best place to wire it up... the battery or amp?
-
i dont think their is a warranty. im buying a used one.
-
so its either the orion d2400($175), us amps md2d($160-170), or the rf t1000-1bd($200).
going to power 2 type r 12's(dual 4 ohms). which one should i get!?
-
LOL. for $200, that a good deal right? includes bass knob.
-
no warranty. or i can get a RF T1000-1bd (gray and black) for $200 .
-
I have dealt with both amps and the orion gets very hot! I personally would go with the us amp. which one is gunna cost you more?
i can get both for $175 each.
and plus my electrical isnt all that :[.
-
u had some experience with these amp or something? or u know someone? i just heard those orions get got!

how is that eq working for u ..u like it ?
oh yeah i do like it. brings my speakers alive.
-
Yeah it looks good. And in my car, i had to use a piece of scrap wood with bondo over the wood and built up on the edges to make it look factory. paint over the bondo of course
thanks man im pretty stoked about it lol. i just need to hook it up to the map soon.
-
As long as your happy with it, thats all that matters. Yea hooking it to the amp is the most accurate.
right on. if i had the skill/techniques and some crazy equipment i would of went 007 status. but it was just a quick and easy idea.
-
nope! it wont. this is the best place. i like it!
-
i figured this would be the best place to mount it at. i thought i would never find a good spot , im pretty proud of myself lol. i hooked it up to the radio just to see if it would work. where is the best place of accurate voltage readings, battery or amp? or its fine on the radio? and can anyone help me or give me an idea what to cover that hole under my EQ. i used a squared styrofoam before but i know it can look better. thank you.

Being 1200w i don't see it pulling over 120 amps.
So it doesn't really matters if you have CCA or pure copper.
The resistance is a bit more, but with that "low" wattage, CCA is good enough.
but u think this amp puts out the rated power?
-
If you're going to keep the amp, then you could use the CCA, you will not see a difference with that amp.
But if you are going to upgrade, then buy the 99.9% copper.(i know it's hard to keep on saving, but it's worth it.)
alright cool thanks. why is that though... you think this amp aint all that or what?
-
The knu KLMX wire is pretty good unless you are trying to pull over 260 amps, which is what the 1/0 is rated for.
well i got a hcca-d2400; it has 0 gauge inputs, and pulls 120 amps. but right now i only for 4 gauge.
-
CCA (copper clad aluminum) worth getting? its pretty cheap. i can get 20 feet for about $40 for 0 gauge. im planning to use it on the big 3 and 1 run from the battery to the amps. and plus im low on money right now. i mean what would be the major differences with 100% copper/high quality wire and CCA wire? thank you.
