  1. When im playing my system and i go to the sound settings, theres a window that allows me to change the HPF from 0-50-80-100 to 125.

While my bass is hitting and im flipping it from 0 to 125 each setting changes my bass dramatically. When i have it at 125 my bass is no where near as loud as when i put it at 0. When i change it from 0 to 50 it still is loud but a little less than 0, then from 50 to 80 even less bass and so on.

I played a rap song that had a 25hz bass line in it and i noticed while my hpf is at 0 that bass line is played by my subs, and when i put the hpf at 125 that bass line is somehow filtered out to where its gone. BY THE HPF?

My other setting in the subwoofer settingls is the LPF but that does absolutely nothing when im flipping it from setting to setting while my bass plays.

Any thoughts on why or what should i do. I so far just leave it 50 on the hpf since my subs dont like 28hz and down and the 50 setting takes those out while not messing with my 32 plus too much.

  2. No i know the heatsink is there for the heat an all of that.

But i was more asking about power loss in the class ab compared to the newer class d like that ppi.

Also in my setup the amp does not get the best of ventilation and i rather keep the amp in that spot for storage reasons so thats another reason i ask about the class d.

  3. Damn, I must REALLY need a new box because I could only do a 144.9 with 4 of the 12's on 3k.

have you tried other amps? not tryin to shi on AP, but some amps can do rated at 45-50hz, but fail horribly on lower frequencies

Since you mentioned this, I test my amps yesterday.

Set the gain at 40hz to 94v.

On the same amp with the Subsonic ALL THE WAY OFF the voltage at 20hz was 60.

    A 30+v drop from 40-20hz...

Not trying to threadjack but does this mean the audiopipe performed bad or good on the lower frequencies? Thanks.

  5. Messed with my box today and picked it up and pointed both subs and port up to the roof. It got slightly less loud but it did clear some rattles from the outside, maybe due to it being slightly less louder maybe.

Dont know if i should first deaden the back then try my box facing back again or just rebuild a box pointing subs up port back.

Usually my reason for doing subs and port back is because boxes have more resale value in my experience if i get bored.

Definately thinking about redoing my setup and go subs up port back now or deaden or both.

  6. Was messing with my buddys setup where i built him a ported box for his 2 12 jl audio w7 on 2400rms port and sub facing the rear to the hatch. This setup sounds very tight and loud and clear.

For kicks picked up and stood his box up with both subs and port facing the roof (which even stock is extremely solid just get a thump when i bang on it), and MAN very nice difference in bass clarity, already was clear and got clearer, and overall loudness. The lows hit harder and way cleaner.

Question is why was there a big difference by me pointing the subs up, was it the roof? is there something wrong with the subs pointing to the hatch? why do the bass waves sound different going to the hatch than to the roof?

I really want to figure this out since my yukon 07 sounds horrible compared to his (i have 2 kicker cvx 15's port and subs to rear hatch built within spec) gains set right and clean but i get a tinny not tight bass and my roof and fenders rattle nasty and im now thinking maybe its because the subs are not pointing at anything solid? Any help?

  7. Thanks for everybodys help. Funny was playing this song in a buddys two jl audio w7 12 2400rms ported(my built box) setup. It sounded very loud and clean.

When it hit that low note his subs played it without sounding bad unlike my cvx's. His truck was fully dynamatted old school 98 2 door and mines is not dynamatted 07 yukon which is plastic compared to that truck.

Even with distortion song doesnt sound too bad and his JL's seem to better hide that low note than my subs. Both his and my box are tuned to 35hz. Mines are 15's his are 12's.

Anybody know what stevie wonder by gucci mane hits in the hz. Should i post elsewhere?
