Hey all, this is one of only a few things that I have posted her so bare with me...
Ive decided to upgrade my subs in my car (03 vw passat) and I am looking for a sealed enclosure that will support my 12" 2ohm Orion HC Sub-woofer. After playing around and trying to find a reasonable sealed box size I'm puzzled at the results.
after some research I found that optimum Qtc Value for a sealed box is .707, so after throwing in all the subs specs into a box calculator I found that the box size should be 4.13Cf3 This seems HUGE. I realize that Qtc values generally range from .9-1.2 but i hear that .707 provides best curve and SPL levels in sealed box
Orion's specs state 1Cubic foot. I know their specs are not accurate, and provide best power handling, but should I meet in the middle and build a box between .75 and .8 Qtc which states i need about 2.2 cubicfeet. I want nice bass, but i chose a sealed box because i dont want my car shaking like crazy as it would with a ported enclosure and I'm too lazy to fab a ported enclosure.
Any ideas?
