  1. cool dude and you're not being a total dick yourself eh? its not the same damn question... why dont you actually read it and help me out I apoligized for before.. its actually a very valid question... and if I'm not mestakin I think what I'm doing is fine I just want to know if it's... im right in assuming that 50hz tone tests @ 0db are a lot louder than most mainstream rap music right? thats all i want to know without the assholes
  2. By the way I will only be running it like this for amonth until I get my 1600RMS amplifier I'm going to run that @ 800RMS voltage since tahts what my Fi SSD 15" is rated for.
  3. On a 50hz sine tone 0db @ 28/30 volume 3/4 gain 0+db boost 70hz LPF I'm hitting a little below 40.00v and my rated voltage on my amp for 400RMS is 28.28 obviously so I'm 11volts over (hence clipping) the weird thing is I hear no clipping but I'm sure the is atleast SOME minimal clipping so if I run it like this but I turn my volume down to 24/30 I usually lose about 5v so lets say if I run 50hz sine 0db @ 24/30 volume im @ 35v or so, now MOST songs arent 0dB or 50hz so if I dont do tones @ 24-26volume I should should be about in my range or 28-30v so I should be fine right?
  4. I mean how loud can a 15" COMP get? I have two in a sealed box and it pounded but my single 15" in a vented box beats alot louder, so I think you should build a whole new box you'll probably notice a big difference... don't go too big for a single comp they don't need a huge box. Also I would recommend a new HU if you want to get serious, what amp are you using? that subwoofer is 250RMS so you can't expect too much bang, what amplifier are you using and what is the rated voltage on that HU?
  5. Nah in the future im going to run two of these in a single box with 1600RMS but for now I'll just get the amp and make the box and up my wiring... breathtaking results? like literally? i want my breath to be taken fromt eh bass LOL I'm looking for like 130+ dB if possible with two 15's.
  6. Yeah LOL thanks for the help so if I get 3.50cubes box made right and 800RMS how nice will this baby hit? should I expect breathtaking results? lol cause right now im not impressed ^_6well I am, but im only impressed when my amps on 3/4 gain and +6dB which is not healthy for the sub lol... I'm guessing 800RMS @ twice the voltage of my 400RMS would mean twice the power atleast. ah im just worried if I upgrade my amp to a 1605D hifonics @ 2OHM 1100RMS tuned gain to 800RMS voltage and got a new box it would be a waste of money if its not a lot louder... Thanks for the help guys, sport I will be pming you for box ideas etc. but can anyone comment on how much off a boost ill get from 800RMS and a 3.5cube box @ 33hz
  7. Ok sooo... that sub is moving fine for 28.28v @ 400RMS? I mean honestly, is that about what I should expect from a badbox/half powered sub? I mean I see people on youtube with the same sub @ "600RMS" and the thing is friggin blasting, they of course could be turning their gain all the way up and +dB so theres no for sure way... anyone with a 15" SSD around here running under 800RMS? tell me if thats not moving enough?
  8. Yeah I just like the IDEA of screwing/glueing and caulking boxes just seems more airtight and long lasting... So ok for under $50 I could build a box, so now I have to save up $50 darn it, this is starting to become a money pig, so this new box will REALLY make a huge difference? I mean nobody has answered me to why my subwoofer is moving so little off 400RMS is it supposed to? ever in a smaller box?
  9. Ok I'll check my wiring out tommorow, ill get ACTUAL measurements to my box AND i'll use the DMM on that 50hz 0db tone sine... So how can the box be my big problem fi you're saying the RIGHT box doesn't make that much of a difference in lows and excursion.
  10. Wouldnt I need: Wood Glue Caulk PolyResin Wood Screws .75 MDF PAINT/CARPET I dont know about you but all of that seems like it would be more than $60... or am I overpreparing? If it's really that easy to make a box I'm sure I can do it, I've just never attempted, I could have my dad help me I suppose, I mean what supplies would I need? and NO im not in cinncinati area I live in new england, maine.
  11. So even if I used this box i'd see a huge difference going from 400-800? im guessing right? and if I installed a new box I would get even lower? I read that the only difference between not having a smaller box is lows are less effective... TBH all bass notes are extremely quiet im telling you dude the sub is BARELY moving at my amps rated voltage... I don't see how the box could limit subwoofer movement, I know a better box would give me more and better bass but if I have to work with what I go right now I want to know if it's possible and how much im losing out on keeping this box.
  12. Ok well even IF I did have the tool to build a box I couldn't I was the worst kid in shop class, I know nothing about cutting wood and molding and creating a box, I think I would do a terrible job and I'm honestly not going to pay $100 for someone to do it, erm. I'm at a loss So basically my box IS the problem? so if I get a new box 3.50cuft tuned @ 33hz how much louder can I expect my sub to be and will there be more flex? also how much louder will my sub be when im putting 800RMS to it? I mean I don't want to throw MORE money into my system for the same result :-/
  13. Wait why subtract 1.5"? the thickness of my MDF is only .50 or .75 so you only subtract that right? So basically can someone deisng me a box then and help me out... I'm really pissed I wasted $50 on a box that they lied about being that big... if it REALLY was 3.4cubes that would would have been perfect, I thought it looked a little small compared to other single 15 builds... I mean a lot of it is my amp right? I mean the sub should STILL move more than it's with a bad box it'll just have less bass right?
  14. The box seems rather large IMO it's almost as big as the box that was running my two 15's before... I have a hard time believing its not on par with 3cubes, but I mean im no box expert. So what you're saying is my sub isn't moving because of my box? and im losing 80% of my bass because of it... wow. According to your box calculator and what I've seen inside of the box I should still be under 40hz... but I see what you mean i've seen 3.5cubic boxes and they are bigger than mine... I should re-measure the box to get actualy dimensions...
  15. Ground should be fine, seems stable and is in there real tight... Bypass my EQ? I don't know what you're saying, the EQ should be fine its a new deck. I checked my RCA's if my RCA's are reversed how will I know, will it make a big difference? I kind of just randomly put them into the amp lol. Sub wires are good just put new ones on it today, they are pretty small but shouldn't be too small for the amount of power im running to the sub.
  16. According to REaudio box calculator im running between 29-33hz on this box so how could it be the box? even if the port was 3 inches shorter than my guess or so it's be 33hz if it was longer than my guess its 29hz... Wait I just realized the way they measure port length is after the port goes in it then turns right for a few inches... my port doesnt do this its just a straight narrow port STILL though with 0 extra port length on the calculator im hitting 36hz thats still pretty friggin low... eigther way my box is tuned below 40hz wayyy below 40hz like mid 30's.
  17. What do you mean? I have one wire going from positive on one coil to negative on the other than i have positive and negative of each coil going into my box terminal, same to my amp.... I already checked my feeds, and they're connected so I dont know... I guess tommorow I can take the woofer out and double check, couldn't hurt I suppose... It's just going to be a pain in the ass, im almost 100% sure I did it right, think one of my coils could be blown or something maybe Fi messed up? honestly I don't think that's problem though, I honestly think a lot of it is my amplifier 400RMS isn't exactly a lot on 28.28v I think a lot of people running 400RMS are boosting their gains and dB up without people known.... it could also be because my subs not broken in. Heres my box: http://cgi.ebay.com/SINGLE-15-SUBWOOFER-VE...#ht_3022wt_1165 Dimensions: 21" W x 16-1/4" H x 18 D 1/2 inch MDF or 3/4 didnt make much of a difference on the calc and I think its about 2 - 2 1/2 inches of port Port length probably 14inches (vertical not horizontal theres no edging in the box.) No matter which way I put the dimensions the box is tuned out under 40hz.
  18. All I have in EQ is: Treble, Bass & Fader Treble @ +4 Bass @ 0 Fader @ 0 Yeah I went over the manual and nope no other settings, my deck is 2.2v I believe. I think that's all, I suppose I might have hidden options on the deck but I honestly don't think so.
  19. Yeah thats a 50hz tone @ 0dB its the loudest bass I can play... anything else is even quieter... I'm running 2OHM off a 1OHM DVC subwoofer @ 400RMS, I understand my box is prefab and not very good, but honestly, my old 15" Kicker COMP moved more in a even crappier sealed box than this is moving, it doesn't make any sense, I also havn;t really broken the subwoofer in. I mean is this normal for my setup or is there a problem here?
  20. I don't know why but its not showing up just click the link... Also I know turning the gain up like I did in the video wasn't good just showing the difference in flex with the gain turned 3/4 instead of 1/2 I added +3dB for effect too. I put them back though... I've seen this sub off 400RMS online before and the excursion was much more.
  21. or could it be a power problem since my amp is pretty weak compared to this sub... that test was with bass on -6 , loudness off , dB 0 , gain half way , 70hz LPF
  22. Got my new Fi 15" SSD hooked up with 400RMS set gain/system to 25/30 on volume and 28.28v, and as you can see in the video the sub doesnt even move 50hz tone @ 0dB so why is this happened? both coils are hooked up, etc. could it be my box?
