  1. I will toss a few ideas at you here... if you don't mind Jacob. :)

first... I'm guessing you are talking a musical box not an spl box.

If doing an SPL box I'd say do a single Zv315" on one of those bd2500's. :)

ok... Music box... I've had some decent luck with a basic setup in most extended cab trucks...

my wife's s10 has two sa8 (v1) doing 146.5's on music from 34-40hz (same scores through that range)...killing on the lows and it sounds amazing.

my old Dodge Ram Quad cab... two sa15" on 3k I did a 152.9 peaking at 43hz.

    with four sa12" and 5k of power I did a 154.1dB at 40hz

    Chode69... two 15" on 5k doing 151.7dB in a 94 chevy ext cab pickup peaking around 40hz

I built all of those vehicles with one thing being consistent... no the box size... but sub/port placement. I have done plenty of testing with my wife's truck by doing a single and two 8's and with the dodge... SUBS UP, PORT TO THE DRIVER SIDE. :)

that is a secret. so shhh.

    now...

that being said... I'd certainly entertain the idea of two of the Zv.3 15" on that Powerbass 3k... that should certainly get you in a musical range capable of 150+ with the right box design, build and install. :)

    Good luck!

(EDIT: the four 12" setup was actually .1dB louder facing forward vs. firing up... and all of these builds were below the window line)

  2. The Sundown Sa12" is one of the best subs money can buy in that price range. You can get them new for as low as 195.00 each through certain Authorized Dealers... that is what I sell them for. However check with your local Sundown dealer as prices on shipping increase at certain areas causing price variations. Keep that in mind...

you can also find them used online for around 150-175 each

this is USA pricing of course.

good luck with your search. I do have a question though... what kind of car? what kind of amplifier? extra batts? upgraded alt?

  3. the sa series subwoofers are extremely under appreciated. lol They are some kick ass woofers and will take much more power in the correct setup.

    I have a guy with two sa12 in a blazer doing a 152+ in a music daily box tuned at 37hz. :) with a Sundown saz2500 on them. :)

same setup in his wife's VW Passat wagon is doing a 150.3

not to mention we got a 158.2dB with a single sa15" in the Boswell's DDBEAST. :)

  4. ok guys/gals...

I have had quite a few people ask about DC... but not one person has yet to buy a woofer so I can get my hands on these things and hammer it in a PCA box...

    SOOOO....

The first person that comes in and buys a DC Audio subwoofer from me starting today... I will give them 50% off the installation and enclosure*! THATS RIGHT!!! 50% off the box* and installation!

    bring it!!!

    * wall builds are NOT part of this deal, sorry*

  5. Giant... I have one but it is currently in route to Tony to get looked at... when I tuned up trippi's hummer... the SD16k... it made a weird noise, showed full distortion (with the gains all the way down) and then stopped working correctly. So I'm sending it in for a tune up. hahaha. it was one of the first original few (# 004) so it was one of the prototypes and didn't have all the kinks worked out....or it didn't like that sd amp. haha

anyway... as soon as it comes back, I got you.

  6. Gary Biggs, Mark Eldridge, Steve Brown, Chris Yato, Harry Kimura and this list could go on for days.

there are a lot of people in the audio biz and you can learn from all of them. That is why I love this so much. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW EVERYTHING. just when you think you have it figured out... WRONG. hahaha

my favorite people to learn from are other competitors, shops, and customers. Trust me when I say I learned a lot with Trippi. lmao.
