  1. N3 is meant for pure spl, n2 is just geared more towards spl, its like the original btl but with neo magnet, n2 and n1 are fine for daily, they suggest the n3 for spl comp due to its ~50 hz fs, but db-don proved you can get music out of it and have it sound good too

and the SG BTL proly gonna be a ground pounding beast whenever its released

  2. the 1/4 wave thing in the enclosure section at least what i assume your talking about is about 1/4 wave tlines, i havent seen anything in that section referring to the 1/4 wave theory in reference to box positioning and tuning and peak frequency

i actually had a decently convo with ray few months back i chat about the 1/4 wave theory being used with the enclosure, though i dont remember most of it, lol

iirc, it has to do with finding the 1/4 wave of the box from the baffle to the windshield, or ive been told firewall as well. i think that distance times 4 then divide that by the speed of sound and you get the 1/4 wave frequency, then i assume if you can get that to match up with vehicle peak, it will be great for SPL

then people would try to tune their box to this, to get peak output, it does sort of go hand in hand a bit with how a 1/4 wave tline works i think

its not really as useful in normal applications but it can be very useful when getting all the SPL out of your system you can

when ray talked to me about it it was when he was testing those 12s in a suburban or something and kept finding out best place to put them, best positioning for everything in the car, etc. he ended up breaking 150 i believe too

that snot all of it but that may help you, its all i can remember

  3. i dont see why the port would have to be made any different, it would be same design just off axis? maybe

instead of the wave form the sub going to say the back wall then out the port, it would hit maybe the bottom of the box then out the port (im a noob box designer BTW)

as for internal volume couldnt you just subtract 1.5 for the dimensions to get the internal volume plus the port, then to get internal volume after port displacement find out the area of the port and subtract that form the internal volume

or get torres calc and it does a decent job calculating these things for you

  4. No lol still not correct. Remember your multiply inches not feet!!!!

i did multiply inches and after multiplying the dimensions of the box, you divide by 1728 inches to figure out what the cubic feet of the box is, because 1728 inches is equal to 1 cuft

and if i were multiplying by ft it would be like this

    34 / 12 = 2.833

    32 / 12 = 2.667

    20 / 12 = 1.667

    2.833 x 2.667 x 1.667 = 12.59

so multiply the inches or the ft of the external dimensions results in the same outcome, what am i doing wrong, cause if i am, let me know

  5. woofersetc is a good site, the person who said it may be a scam or whatever, may have just had a bad run with them, its like most people on here say audiosavings is a great company, im one of them, ive had nothing but good service, but it only takes a few instances and rumors spread or people go overboard, if they knew how many transactions went trough a day and how may of those were bad (low percentages im sure) than they woudlnt care so much

  6. my laptop is a toshiba satellite 18.4 inch widescreen, full HD, bluray burner, 4gb ram (could have got more, but ram is cheaper to buy separately, same with harddrive), exactly like the qosmio yet more customizable. at the time of purchase i researched everywhere i could find that slkd configurable laptops, if its pre-configured, they either charge too much or rip you off somewhere. i even get a 25% discount at dell, and i couldnt make a better deal than i got with my laptop. This is a year ago though. but it plays any pc game currently available on highest settings with no lag at all.

but based on budget, an d without looking at others suggestions, ill add to be sure to configure your own laptop. its like buying from walmart or best buy, if its pre configured, they either screw you over on the processor or graphics card (the most expensive components of the computer) or they charge more than its worth.

like i said above, whatever you get if you dont mind waiting a bit longer, you can save money buy going with graphics card and processor from company, and get the smallest HDD and ram they offer and buy those elsewhere, they are easy to replace and saves some money buy upgrading yourself. I also prefer Intel over AMD, but you will always get people that root for one or the either. Intel is more expensive of course, but like i said depends on budget. I run AMD in my desktop and Intel in my laptop.

  7. wont get much more budget than audiopipe, they are decent or the price, but many have positive and negative things to say about them

what kind of power are you looking to get for that price range

  8. i dont have much room to talk caus eim trying to work out 6th orders

but you should at least do a bit of research about 4th orders before deciding to build one and in the bit of research learning about ratios and such of sealed vs ported you should learn at least a little on how its tuned, get a rough idea of how its done, and then see if someone can help you
