  1. I think the most logical use of a loud car stereo would be as a way of identifying yourself to others over long distances. As you travel across the country to find safe haven, you could crank it up to call other non-living-dead. Sort of like a PA. Plus you could roll around bumpin' to coax the zombies into the open where they would be easier targets. You could clear buildings that way. I definitely think the zombies would be attracted to the noise, not repelled by it.

  2. Don't miss paying back your pawn loans! Get that stuff back. I'd recommend going to an employment agency. If your buddy can't get you in at O'Charley's. You know you can do better than BK. No one is getting anywhere working at fast food places. It's a decent gig, unless you need money. Other than that it's a lot of work for not much gain.

BTW, I've been playing guitar for about 13 years and bass for about 9 years. It's just a hobby for me, but I absolutely love it. I wouldn't want to go without it.

  3. Well after reading up. I changed my mind. Stay in school 100%!!! Do what makes you happy and surround yourself with the people that make you happy. Be a good person and people will be good to you. It's karma.

Remember, "Adversity is the parent of virtue." Focus all of your efforts on getting what YOU need -- from your education, your love, your life. Live in your car if that's what it takes, but for god's sake, DON'T STOP PLAYING MUSIC! And don't give up on YOURSELF. Focus on YOUR goals and do whatever it takes to achieve them.

It isn't what happens to you in life that matters. It's how you react that counts.

  4. I'm curious what you're going to school for? The degree I mean. I went to school for two years, got two degrees and worked part-time at BK the whole time. I didn't need the degrees I got to get the job i have. I applied at an employment agency after school and they called me within a couple weeks with a job offer. Long story short, I'm still there (as a regular employee) about 20 months later.

I realize it's different for everybody. For me, two degrees just looks good on paper.

They don't mean spit to me as far as making me more money or getting me a good job.

  5. You gym rats are crazy. I don't understand how you remember all the different exercises. I'm lucky if I can remember how to get home after work.

And how the hell do you have enough time to do all that stuff and eat enough too. If I worked out that much I'd have to spend the entire rest of my day eating.

How many calories are you getting on a day that you work out Orion? I have to have about 3-4000 just to keep going on a normal work day. And I'm only 120lbs. (Which means I do wicked good pullups and can't squat sh!t lol.)

Sorry to kinda get off topic.

  6. You're better off using an electric sander. And you'll be surprised at how well mdf sands. Hit it with 40 grit and you'll be able to get the edges flush in an hour. Go over the rough parts with 80-100 grit, and your good. If you have gaps or cracks, fill them with filler, and sand that. Several hours of work is worth it when you end up with a good looking box.

Just keep at it until you're happy with what you've got. And post pics when you're done! :D

  7. Looks like you got an internal volume of 4.75 cu ft box. ive read that its 13-15cu inch of port space for each cubic foot of box. So it looks like between 61.75 and 71.25. sq inch of port space. This is just a guess based on stuff i read, not sure about it though. maybe a 6" port 12" long?. Thats just a guess though man from what ive read. Plus dc audio lists the suggested ported box size at 3.5 cubic feet for a 15" so not sure if box is too big?

I would assume the dimensions he gave are the overall box size, so after sub and port displacement I doubt he is going to have 4.75 cuft.

OP - can you make that box any larger?

I did a very quick calculation (on my phone) and came up with a 17.25 x 3 port x 29" long. Drops you to somewhere around 3.7 cuft tuned to ~32 Hz.

^Do that. Your box is bigger than it needs to be and the port is way too small. 3.7cu.ft. would be nice and that port area is good, as well as the tuning. ^DO IT.

EDIT: You would most likely be louder with the port back instead of up. But that would involve more rework.

  8. I'm not bashing on the band. But that genre is so full of trend-following generic nonsense, it makes me sick. I have a buddy that wanted me to play guitar for him in his band and I was cool with it until I found out it was screamo, or whatever you call it. Generic and boring if you ask me. I doubt it has any long-term staying power either, not enough substance. Talent or not.

Just my opinion. Maybe I'm missing something...but I doubt it.
