  1. I finally got this ting running halfway right and driving again. It hasn't been started since 1997! I've had it since November but haven't had the funds or the time to do work on it. I'ts way dirty and the paint is fuxed but loud isn't always pretty.

It's a 95 T-bird with power EVERYTHING. Even auto ac.

Imma wall it off for the lulz.

The trunk is TINY. Seems like a good place for a bunch of amps.

I want to make it a comp car. This should be fun. =]

  2. is there anyway to slide it through the interior, i know with my g6, the trunnk opening blows, but if i just unbolt where my back seats latch onto (like a placstic frame) i can slide it right in

NOt really, I've only got about 13x30 space that way.

    IMG_1004.jpg

The black plastic peice with the Buick logo on it hides the brace that spans between the rear strut towers.

I'm about to sawzall something, really.

  3. SO I have this problem see...

I got all this trunk space and this itty bitty opening for it, the opening is like 29x18 usable. =\ But the trunk in and of itself is huge.

    IMG_0174.jpg

I made a super hi tech box mockup that was 17x17x34 and even that didn't fit.

    So my options are

1 Build a tiny box that's no more than 29Lx18H and blend it in.

2 Build the box in the trunk.

I really don't want do build in in the trunk because it then will be permanent cause I cant get it out AND I dont know how I'd go about getting it sealed and solid if I did that.

    What do?

Is there a particular reason that you can't angle one side of a ported box?

Any ideas that might help in this case?

I can get pics of measurements pretty easy because right now everythings out.

  4. Exacly that, WTB a mono class D amp that puts out 1kw rms for the $300 ish range.

Slightly flexible on price, depends on amp.

Should have a 4ga power input and put out power at 2 ohm.

Other than that, I'm not picky.

    Any bites, ideas?

    Asking too much?

  5. It's kinda sad when you have no IRL friends to rant to so I'll vent to you guys, here goes...

So there's this girl right? We've been together for 5 years exactly now. Like as of today, we started talking feb 14 of my senior year 2006. Well all was hunky dory until I decided to join the Army. This was something I've always wanted to do. Sounds cliche but ever since I was a kid, all I ever really wanted to be was a soldier. So I was all fuck it, I'm doing it. I figured we had planned on getting married at one point and this would be a perfect way to provide for us and do something I've always wanted to do. All was well until I made it to AIT. Somewhere in the silence, she decided she would rather be single. But tell me? Oh no no. Anywho, the day came that my Sgt came and told me I was being discharged because of my ankle. I didn't have a leaving date, but I knew I was coming home. So I told her. She wal all YAY OMG I cant wait. This was a Wed. The NEXT DAY I was offered a PT discharge which would get me home sooner and I could come back in 180 days, right? I took it and called her, not the next day and the tone went from OMG YAY to We have something to talk about. So I was tripping out my last weekend there. I made it back and long story short she told me that she had almost messed around with some random dude she met.

Okay, okay. We've been apart for a year now with conflicting schedules on the other side of the states. It kinda made sense. So we decided we would try to see if we grew together then.

Once again as far as I knew, I was doing great. You know, random flowers, surprise movies and dates. All the cute shit. Until one day I decided randomly to check up on her. Turns out she had been planning to dump me the whole time but "I was being too reasonable." I confronted her about it and she indeed verified it was true and actually told me that not the night before she intentionally cheated again, just to try it and get me to break up with her.

Well I did. But now 5 years of emotional involvement GONE for no good reason. Just because she wants to "See whats out there."

Well after a bit of separation and soul searching I started to talk to her again. You know, to see where it goes. And she was receptive. Everything was going really great until today.

Good ole Valentines day. I made sure to get the most beautiful flowers and cutest stuffed animal I could find. When I gave them to her she was speechless. Now I know why. I called her later, and told her that I never stopped loving her. Which is true, five years just doesn't up and disappear. And here it comes...

After hearing that she apologized for leading me on... Turns out she's going on a date with someone she's never met Tuesday. The whole idea of us talking again was to be completely open and if it wasn't gravy, to let the other privy to that and rework a game plan. But no. That so totally didn't happen.

Three strikes, man. I can't handle her anymore. It's officially done for. I'm sure I can find a nice girl someday that doesn't want to just use me a cannon fodder.

Oh and the best part. She's going on the date because, and I quote,

"Your job and your speakers are just boring. All you talk about are amps this and woofers that."

    But it's cool.

The bass makes the pain go away.

Good night SMD. I have a boring job to get to tomorrow to finance more boring car audio.

  6. The thing is, I've never heard of Audioque.... Like ever.

    Or Audiopipe for that matter.

I always hear people going ZOMG SUNDOWN/AQ/AUDIOPIPE!! and I've never heard of or seen anything from these companies and I've been around this for a minute or two.

Fanciest shit I've ever seen at a show or comp are DDs.

First I learn about these other brands is since I've been here and now they're coming out the woodworks.

That's why I've always ran MTX gear, I know it's all good shit but for some reason MTX just tripled their prices on all their gear.

    Year and a half ago I bought both my 8500s and a 4501 for $600 now just a single 8500 is $600.

  7. Ah alright, that makes more sense. But it also makes me think, wont i mess up the larger battery as well? The only difference i see is how much current a larger battery would output, which is good, but it still takes longer to charge. Unless i'm missing a very important factor in a large battery vs. a stock one

    The materials they're made of.

Wet cells use lead suspended in an electrolyte.

AGM(Absorbed Glass Matt) batteries are made of win and Jesus or some shit.

They charge and discharge quicker and have a almost non existent ESR.

Also I could just be stupid and have no idea what I'm talking about, all I know is they fucking work.

  8. Srsly, just lurk moar.

Hang out here and ask way stupid questions until you start to catch on.

Lurk the net and READ, read read read. Learning is part of the fun of what we do.

Sure, in theory it works. Fine.

But how? And why? And how do I make it better?

WHY is this like this and not that? Why is a/b/c better than x/y/z?

That's what makes this a passion, and not a bunch of annoying fucks blaring music on the highway.

Just learn random shit. We weren't all experts when we started.

Except Steve. That fucker was BORN at 150+ db.

  9. I just watched Steve's video that posted on facebook last night. They put 4 T4000 in the Honda. I need some of you experts to tell me how the hell his subs handle that kind of power. I'm not doubting it at all, I just wanna know so I can do it. If I heard the video right, he said one amp per voice coil. so 4000+ watts per coil, 8000+ watts per sub? Did I understand that right? RMS power I assume? Now I'm not a complete idiot, I understand that's for short durations but what can those subs really take for constant daily driving and how do you power them that high without a melt down? I'm thinking along the lines... no bass boost, clean power, no clipping, anything else? I heard him say in a video a while back, you gotta know how to run em like that... well I wanna know!

Also I've only ever run sealed boxes, wanting to go ported and try it out for a while. I have a nissan maxima and the rear seats don't fold down, ported boxes still sound good stuffed in a trunk or should I stick with sealed? Thanks fellas.

Steve's honda is being built as an SPL monster not a DD. SO it'll only get those power levels for like 5 seconds and knowing how Steve does, he could prolly wire them to wall sockets without blowing em.

I can't say ALWAYS, but every ported box I've heard sounded better to ear than a comparable sealed box. It's all about efficiency. Then again, not every sub works well in ported boxes so I can't say "ZOMG YAEH PORTD IS AllwAZE BETTAR LOLz."

Also space is an issue, ported boxes take more space than sealed so that's an issue.

At any rate you could sawzall the rear deck if you really wanted to and It'd be a non issue.

  10. Ah i see, so i'd have to pound it before and after to see a difference. And keeping a smaller power wire that connects to the amp would be fine too, correct? I wouldnt have to beef the wire up on that since its a 4ga wire, and the amp will draw a max of 120A of current, which is well within its range of capability.

While you are correct, if your doing a big 3 anyway, I'd swap out for some larger cable anyway. Just in case you want to go bigger later.

Personally, I'd feel a lot better running 1500w rms through a 1/0, but I like to overbuild things rather than underbuild for obvious reasons.

Then again, I have my 500w rms amp putting out 3x what it's supposed to on 4ga and a stock charging system sooooooo........
