That was quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Thats because you most likely have the 80 gig system which is 100% backwards compatible, Sony stopped making those
Incorrect.
Only the 60GB had full hardware backwards compatibility. This was because they actually had the processor from the PStwos in them.
They are also the only US models to feature 4 USB 2.0 ports, WiFi, and chrome trim.
Due to lack of interest and as a cost cutting measure they removed the PStwo chip from the mobos and offered some backwards compatibility on the 80s and early 120s, however this was purely software accelerated and buggy with some(read: most) games.
The newer ones do not offer ANY backwards compatibility as those of us that like to USE our systems that we payed OUR HARD EARNED MONEY for found ways to use the older games to do things Sony says is a big no-no.
Sony is filled with doodoohead execs that like to tell consumers what they are and aren't allowed to do with the products they still expect them to buy, kinda like a rather large American company we all love to hate for the same reason.
Btw, I have a hard/soft modded 60G that still runs 1.0FW. Take THAT Sony!

I agree, it looks really good. esp. for your first box.
My first box looked like ass.

im not sure what your saying your going to do now but i just want to make sure, you arnt putting the output wires on the factory amp to the input of the new HU are you?
I think he just went there.
I totally didn't think about a factory amp. Yes, you will have to use an LOC then.
-
the factory hu doesnt use rca's or a low level output. you need an amp with a high voltage input to use the wires running from the factory hu. that or a LOC then run your rca from that.
Use a high quality LOC at that, crappy quality LOCs will fuck up your signal hardcore. The one I have laying in the floor of my garage clipped the hell out of my signal to the point you couldn't use the gain or boost controls or it'd shut off. I used a set of MTX High-level-to-RCA converter that came with my amp to connect it and it works like a charm.
I have an extra set of those BTW.

x2
check all the grounds(for the amp, the battery,...). Even if you don't do the big 3.
Something is going bad with the grounds, because this is not enough power at all to have voltage drops.
THIS.
Double check the ground at the amp, make sure it's of decent size. I've seen tards wire grounds on 500w amps with speaker wire.
Also. dunno if it was mentioned, check the LENGTH of the amp ground too why your at it. It should be as short as possible.

What the hell do you drive that two years old and DOESN'T have keyless entry?
O.o
I thought that was one of those thing you needed to have to make the car go like leather seats and a gas pedal...
-
Yep, the power is split. You don't just get free power for wiring up multiple subs. The amp doesn't know what it's powering. You could have 1 sub or 10, the final load of the subs will determine the power output.
Parallel, series only determines the final load on the amp, not how the amp power them.
That explains a lot. Thank you for that. I'm going to scoop up a 1000w amp to play with my MTX's until I get ready for this new build. I'm already planning it about $4000 deep.
Anyone else vouch for Sundown amps? I've been reading the spec sheets since that last post...
-
No you need 2000 watts total to give each sub 1000. You can get two dual 1 subs (wire each sub in series for a 2 ohm load, then parallel the subs for a 1 ohm final load) and then get an amp that does 2k at 1 ohm. Or you can do the same but with dual 2 ohm subs and get an amp that does 2k at 2 ohm.
You won't need dual alts to run ~2500 watts. Pretty sure you'd be fine with one HO alt and a few batts.
So regardless, the 2 subs on one amp only get half the power of the output each?
Even with them paralelled?
That explains why my MTXs barely move at all.
I'm planning on running a 220A alt with a Kinetik 1400 up front and a Kenetik 600 or two in the rear Wired with 1/0.
-
You should probably state how much you want to spend...
I'd like to keep it less than $500 for eash, but I'm flexible up to say $750-800 ish for one or the other.
You're going to run 1k to two Qs?They're rated for 1000rms each.
Yeah, 2 dual2Ω drivers wired parallel each speaker should see 1000w. Please correct me if I'm wrong, that's always bothered me anyway.
If I have to do 2 1kw amps I'll have to shoot Dom another PM about the alt. I dunno If I can dual alts on this car.
-
Yet another suggestion thread...
Imma need two amps, one for subs and one for highs.
Sub amp needs to put out 1kw rms @ 2Ω. Will be attached to 2 Fi.Qs.
Highs amp needs to put out 100w rms x4 @ 4 Ω. Will be attached to 4 corners of Focal 3-way components.
And sound BADASS doing it.
I would really, really, really prefer that they come from the same company...
Thanks again.

Beer...
And hot dogs...
And more beer.

those Lacrosses are beautiful cars, how is this one treating you?
Quite well, 65k miles and no problems.
It'll be even more beautiful once I do the full Super body kit and get it repainted.

Finished up the Big 3 with my extra 4ga I had. Not pretty but very effective.
All lugs are soldered and taped.
Alternator
Routing
New neg terminal
Connected at stock location

It looks like a custom Remington 700. I can tell by the fluted barrel and seeing a number of barrels in my day.
God only knows about the scope.
Is it a 700? I have a Model 7600 myself.

whenever theres a TV on anywhere within 100 or so feet of me, my ears ring a little, its like a .05 db 10khz tone if i had to describe it, does anyone else have this happen to them?
Yeah, I get that too. Nice to know I'm not crazy.
-
Started the Big 3 today with some extra 4ga I had laying around...

This is one clean car! Very nice!
That's some good wood work their also. Nice job! What all do you want to do with your car?
Make into a daily driven street beast.
I have a ways to go with it, like diagnosing the issue with my amp quitting if gain/boost is set past half.
I want to keep it all MTX though, I'm ocd when it comes to these things.
wow!!!

Hell, I'd rock it out if it was slammed on 30s.
I figure you could buy a new airbag cover for when you need to inspect it, prolly.
Since the Mark LT is basicly a rebadged 150, it makes sense, but you can't sell it as a Lincoln.
The VIN will always read ford.
