  1. you need 4 pairs of speaker wire, a power, switched wire, power antenna turn on wire and a ground(18 guage is fine). If you tell the shop you are doing it yourself and you just want to buy the wire and connectors, they might charge you some ridiculous price. If you have any doubts, just take it on up to the shop. But if you choose to tackle it yourself, be careful bot to pinch any wires or leave any stray or exposed wires at any of your connections.

When installing any stereo in the past I always made sure to use electrical to wrap around any exposed wires so Im already good on that end. It looks like I might have to do it myself to save money since I was just fired today.

Thanks a lot for all the info man, hopefully I can get some cash soon and tackle to job

  2. the amp is on the back seat in the trunk somewhere. That is from the forum on the12volt.com. That harness they sold you shoud plug to the output side of the factory amp and that will send signal to yopur factory speakers. But you will have to run 4 pair of speaker wires (some cars need antenna extension) from the harness in the trunk up to the front at the cd player(as well as 12volt constant, swiched and maybe ground, or find a good ground at the dash). Run and antenna 12volt turn on if you have a power antenna. 70$ isn't a bad price really if you trust the shop and have seen some of their installs. That's about what we charge at work. 35-45 on the cd install, and 25 more to run the wires to the trunk and bypass the amp. Hope that helps you out.

oooh this is gonna suck...yea Im going to need to have the shop do it then. And he quoted me at $75 but Im not sure he realizes he will need to run it to the trunk. Hopefully he doesnt charge too much more when he finds out

really helps to say what car.

    year make and model.

I say what yea make and model in every post, its the only thing I have in my signature

  3. metraonline.com has a fit guide that show some type of Bose Amp and tuner integration/relocation harness. It shows a standard 1858 harness on one end. The ones in the photo you show don't look similar. Wtf? I think I am asleep.

The wiring harness they show is the same one best buy sold me (minus the black wire on the side), so thats how Im confused. I really need to figure out how to get this done cause I do not want to pay $75 for the shop to do it.

  4. According to best buy the wiring harness they sold me actually is correct and the ones in the car I found are not the ones I need to hook up my stereo, the ones I found are apperenty fed down to another wiring harness and that is the one I need to hook into which is apperently also where the antenna cable is...but where the hell is it and how do I get to it? Here is pics of the harnesses and what the harnesses go into..

    GEDC2520.jpg

They get fed into a jumble of wires and electrical tape/wire loom, I have no idea where to find the right harness

    Please help!!!

  5. Ive done one on a buddy of mine..you have to take off the push clips for the front grill by the radiator, but you do not need to take the whole bumper off. You just need to move it enough so you can pull the housing out. The whole front long trim across the lights just snaps off. There are some hidden screws to the side of the radiator. You have to move the battery cover to get to some screws. I thinks that it...Good luck

Thanks man, hopefully its as easy as you make it sound.

I hate it when they make cars where you have to take the whole front of the car apart just to change a light, especially whenever lightbulbs don't last forever :(

I think to change a mustang (and on a prius) you have to like remove the bumper, grill, engine, seats, transmission, and the trunk lid. Okay, maybe not that many things but yeah..

  6. I have the exact model you have. All you have to do is have it ground out to play "video". Other then that the

screen stays open and on while you drive. But all you have is the grey and yellow screen. When you put in the

dvd or video cd its suppost to go to the blue screen and legal warning. Have it grounded out and it won't do that.

    r00k

So there are two wires, one in the book was labeled as going to the gearbox, and another is labeled Brake. Which do I ground? And Im just trying to clarify, when I ground it I do like any ground wire right?

  7. not sure on the jensens, did you try google? im sure it's on the internet somewhere.... probably a light blue wire that needs to get grounded out..

also it seems you havn't even hooked it up yet, why not hook it up and see if it works ?

Google is rarely kind to me..mainly because I never know the proper wording to find what I need

I havent hooked it up yet because Im still waiting for someone to answer my other question about how to take off the front dash because Im having some small trouble, if I had a spare dash/wood trim I would just put some muscle into it and see what happens

  8. From what i've gathered with my talks with sony (i talked to them through our vendor support at my job) is that it is a PURE software block and when they are ready to let you play ps2 games it will be in an update

The reason why is because i ps2 costs like 15 bucks to make and they sell it for 100 bucks pure profit stores only make like 1 off of them

Ps3s cost alot to make like 25 dollar proffit for sony and not very much again for retail stores

HOPE this helps and im not just pullin it outta my ass

I hope its soon man cause I really want it. Thanks for all the info.

its ture but i have not tried to play ps1 games

Actually all ps3 will play ps1 games already

  9. oh...my bad brother...good luck finding a way around that...Not gonna lie, I have completely stopped all ps2 game usage. It just doesn't live up to the new powerful games on the PS3.

Yea Im pretty sure I will have to do what I originally planned, trade in my 40 gig and get the backwards compatible 80 gig, only thing that sucks is I will lose all my data :-(

I hear yea on the games not comparing, but I also have a 360 and any game that is also on the 360 I will just play there, my ps3 is for ps3 only games, the bluray, and hopefully soon also my ps2 games cause I love my old games
