  1. Fisrt step if you've never rode before is take the riders saftey course. Then shop around and get a cheaper first bike-I'd recommend a older 600cc sport bike if that's what you want, you'll get bored of the 250 really fast. I now own a 2006 gsxr 600 and a 2000 zx12r, and let me tell you I've rode bikes for around 22 years and the zx12 can still scare the hell out of me everytime I ride it. A 600 is a great starter bike if you use your head and be very careful until you get perfectly comfortable riding it and then still ride with caution at all times.

you only screw up big once on a motorcycle. start small and work up at your own pace. when i mean small i am not talking about a brand new 600 some of these are tenths of a second off of there big bro 1000's in the 1/4 mile. get late 80s to early 90's 600 and get real comfortable with that

  2. I've always wanted to have and ride a motorcycle and now I finally can. Without the parents saying no and the money right, now I can afford one and they seem like a practical and fun way to get from point A to point B.

Problem is I've never been on one. No dirtbike, nothing.

Well, I did have a Suzuki 50cc scooter in college but that doesn't count. It was yellow and awesome.

Anyway, how would one go about familiarizing with them and getting a license? All of my friends with bikes I don't want to ask for fear of dropping it. If I drop a bike I want it to be mine.

Also, what would be a good bike for a beginner? I want sportbike type, I've always loved them, specifically the Yamahas.

There's a Yamaha 250(or something small like that) that looks like an R6 about 20 miles from here for $2500 and I've been eyeballing it hard. Not face melting powerful but looks sharp, could be an awesome first bike.

Any suggestions for a newbie rider?

    INb4 "You can't put a system on a sportbike"

if i was starting over again i would buy something super cheap and ride it for a year. then go out and get something nice. i learned on my brothers 650 shadow. two years later i got a suzuki sv1000s. wheelie machine. as far as the lic. goes in ny you get a permit first. you can ride on a permit as long as there is someone else riding next to you that has a lic. that doesnt mean ride up to strangers. pick a friend and practice. gl

  3. they are hella easy to use, i just think a sealed box would work better for you...i have a level 2 10" for our home theater sub on a 400w plate amp, its in a 2.5 cube box tuned to 25hz, it sounds really good, works great for movies, tested it musically and even in this big of a box on 400w it didnt break a sweat

you got me confused your first post said ported and your second said sealed. i think you ment sealed the first time.

  4. ups will be here thursday with a kicker zx08700.5 amp. it will put out 420 watts at 2 ohms on the mono channel. i am going to order a level 2 15" for it. my problem is i want it loud but acurate. ported or sealed. what do you think? going in a trailblazer so space is a non issue. the other four channels are running two sets of polk db6501's in the doors. all controlled with an eclipse cd5030. i was thinking about the level 3 but i dont want to under power it.

  5. ok I'm in the market for an air compressor for home. Not looking to spend 2 grand on some snap on or MAC compressor. just something solid sturdy and dependable for running air ratchets air saws and for brad nailing(going to start using brads to hold boxes together for speed reasons). Basically things like that. Would also like to get into a little painting with it if possible. Whats a good compressor to look into in the sub 400 dollar range? anything to look into? I know they have different hp motors gallons and psi ratings. I'm usually a fan of more psi hp etc the better but im not sure in this case.

also you guys who use nailers for boxes. What size brads are you using and what gun.

this predrilling and countersinking stuff gets old fast. lol

    been looking at these three

all three of these compressors say that they are twin cylinder " double lung". this is the biggest factor in air compressors. the more pistons compressing air at the same time the better. the only real differance is the tank capacity. the bigger the better.

  6. Does anyone know the displacement per 15 level 3?

And a good ported calculator?? I have used many...found the RE one the best so far. Just lookin for other options.

sorry for the noob question. but i want to build a box for a level 2 15" this calc. looks very easy to use. but i am unsure where the woofer and the port placement should be. looking for woofer up port back. can you do that with a slot port or does that mess things up. this will be my 1st attempt at a box. any pointers would be helpfull. also some insite on tuning would be good. thanks again.

  7. wtf is a "power stud". hook the amp/s up straight to the front battery. you could do better than one of those preloaded P3's that cost like $400. it seems like your making all of these decisions w/o our help even though you asked for it

i said that i was looking at other amps. not that i bought other amps. i also said that i was building a box and going to drop a 15" in it. thanks for reading the whole post.

  8. i have a 04 trailblazer with two sets of polk audio db6501's. one set for each door. just ordered a eclipse cd5030. need to invest in some amps and a sub. i have been looking at soundstream amps and a preloaded punch3. what are your thoughts. i am on a very tight budget.

cant belive the guy with the question " can i run a second battery without hooking it up to the alternator' is getting more responce then my question
