  1. ok so its just about done. just painted it a little while ago so it will be dry and good for last coat tomorrow and i will install. i have a couple pics for you uploading. i just had one problem and that is that i had no good solid way to hold the top in so i had to use 2 screws on the outside which sucks but like i said its all temporary. this was just a way to really experience fiberglass and bondo and just have some fun with it. it still sits on a little angle down but it still looks much better than how it was. so here it is.

  2. ok so far so good. i got 2 layers done and i think thats all im going to do. i no it looks like shit now but tomorrow i will get it cut up into shape and get rid or all the excess, bondo, sand, primer, and paint. i had to work on another car today so didnt get to this project till late and didnt have anymore time to play with it. so here are some pictures, let me know what you think but go ez on me, this is my FIRST experience with fiberglass and this is still a very raw stage of the project. thanks

  3. well like i aid this is just temporary until i make my center counsel. but i dontwant to do that till i paint the car and put in new carpet and everything. if it looks like shit im going to try again. this is FAR from a show car. it looks good in that pic but from close up its got its issues. but i think i can make this work. the whole template and bezel and cage will be wrapped together which will keep it all in place (with the help of some gorilla glue :) but im going to wrap everything and fill in any dead space before its covered. then if it doesnt look good i can then use bondo or other body filler and cover the whole thing, sand it, and then paint it. trust me, i do things the right way when its all said and done. thats why i spent over 900 bucks to have my headliner done when they found out the roof supports were bent and had to be cut out and put back. instead of just having a saggy headliner. this is project and far from finished, but it sucks because i drive it a lot and i dont have any tunes! i have a similar box design that zx10intn has for his trunk, but its all going to be hidden. same shape though, and a little smaller. im going to try it out tomorrow and see what happens. if its bad i have another way to try where i make a whole mold and everything and use wood supports and stuff. but we will see what happens. thanks guys

  4. well if you notice the bezel around the face plate is on an angle. and the top is pushed into the cardboard a little to help also. you cant really tell but in the picture with me just holding it up in the car the radio is almost perfectly flat. faces down a little but not very noticeable. and other than having to use quite a bit of fiberglass is there any other downfall to covering the cardboard. i mean you can make a cast of something from fiberglass with no other support inside it so why cant i use the cardboard just as a guide for the glass to harden around? it sounds like it makes since. maybe not, im not sure. but i think im going to try it out tomorrow.

  5. yea i can make one from wood, i just wasnt sure how that would hold up but i guess if i fiberglass it then it would be stronger. and i like that blue one cuz it sits flat and is more flush than the last one. but i think i have a pretty good idea on what to do now.

also about the "other options" i am going to build a custom console that goes from the floor up to the dash and i am going to put a nice double din in that but that wont be till next year sometime. this is just kind of a temporary set up and thats why i dont want to spend to much money on it. i have speakers and a radio laying around to use... but ill give the wood/fiberglass a try and show you what i figure out. thanks guys

  6. hi everyone, i dont have any experience in making something cutsom like this and would like to know how you guys would make something to fit this... the only ones already made cost over 150 bucks and are chrome or wood grain haha. i need mine to be just black and cost like 40 bucks... here is the dash hole. and if you notice its on an angle towards the front of the car and down and the side are also angled. let me know if you need any more info.

  7. ok. dont listen to any of these guys... first off go to the diesel dodge forum.

the entire trucks are 100% the same, frame, suspension, front end, bed, cab, everything other than the coil springs. this is for 2500's because there is no 1500 diesel. so do not swap a diesel into a 1500 unless you replace the whole front suspension. the trans will mount fine. manual or auto. my buddy did a manual trans swap on his 95 cummins and it worked perfect. plus.... those older cummins are all mechanical. no wiring harness or computer. you obviously have wiring to do but no computer wiring. but please go to one of those other forums. this is not where you should get your info from. good luck

  8. ok you really need to do a little more research with google. there is a ton of info everywhere on this. also realize there are 2 test ports. one is high side pressure and the other is low side. YOU CANNOT READ HOW MANY POUNDS OF FREON IS IN THE SYSTEM!!! literally impossible unless you weigh a bottle and empty the system into the bottle and them re-weigh it. it could be weigh over charged from messing with it and not knowing what your doing. also those autozone re charge systems do work but make sure you read the instructions 100 percent and follow them or else it wont work. best bet is to stop spending pointless money on recharge kits and go to a local shop and pay the 20 bucks to have it recharged. they will empty and refill it. takes like a half hour of your life...
