Wal-Mart has sold subs for a long time where have you been? They Sell Sony, Dual and some stores even have cheap ass Pioneer subs.
nevermind, I was thinking about Target.
-
Theyre sold on Livneked.com
They're a SMD partner
-
lol, my and my bro went to walmart cause we were bored and came home with a 30 dollar dual 12.... slaped a ported box together tuned to 32hz, lol you cant beat it for 30 bucks.. ill post videos soon.
Damn, walmart? I didnt know they even sold subs.. Im surprised they hit somewhat hard

I want to do a port like the one Steve has in the Tahoe so I have more net volume. Ill be using the Torres' ExpoSport calculator. Here are my questions:
1) Will I only have one common port wall?
2) Does it matter how high the port is on the box?
3) How much port area should I have per cubic foot?
4) Is the depth (length) of the port the same on all four sides?
-
The fuse should be atleast the size of the amplifiers fuse rating
-
hd3's or lvl 4's.
I agree. Based on what I've heard, cant go wrong with those
-
I know this is off topic; but I love those headlights!!

If you're getting at AQ3500D then a fully loaded fi btl would work. Just get a dual 1 ohm fully loaded sub and wire it up to 2 ohms. It'll be better on your electrical at 2 ohms than 1. That way, if you want another btl after you upgrade the electrical, you could use the same amp and wire it to 1 ohm with the two woofers. I'd go with either a btl, xl, or level 5..whichever is cheapest
-
I would do the upgrade to an xl. Like what everyone else said, "the one 15 won't be starving for air." also, you could probably fit a ported box
-
That all came out really nice
-
I've heard nothin but good things about those subs. Those quad 1.2 ohm voice coils would confusing as hell to hook up and im not try to go broke with spending like $1000 per woofer, On top of that I'd need almost 9000 watts RMS PER SUB..thats not even including the mids and highs
-
and thank you for the answer. i like all music so it hard to make my mined up this is why im trying to get some feed back from the forum
Your welcome. If you listen to all different types of music, I'd do a mid sized ported enclosure and tune it between 35 and 38Hz. No, it wont get the extremely deep lows, but it will get some "high bass."
-
It all depends on what kind of music you listen to. If it's rock go sealed. If it's rap do a big ported and tune it to about 33hz
-
Do you think I could achieve decent hair tricks with either setup?
-
The subs probably would need different amounts of power so I can't think of anything. Actually, maybe two four channel amps. Usually the first two channels have their own cross over and the third and fourth have a seperate crossover. You could wire the subs to different impedences (ohm loads) to achieve your rated power. It probably sounds really complicated but it's really not
-
He'd need either four enclosures or one Four chambered enclosure. He would also need 4 amps (one per sub.) Electrical upgrades wouldn't be a bad idea depending on the amps
-
3 kicker comp vr's 10inch, @ 2.6ohms.
what year are those? I have an 07 in my room and they're plain in color
-
I'd do the fifteens in a proper box theres nuthin worse than someone tryin to get a larger sub into there ride by puttin it in a box thats to small for it and wonder why there friends shitty 10's are louder
I had an idea that was the case but I heard you could give a sub more power to make up for the smaller enclosure. I figured i'd ask on here because you guys have helped me in the past
-
It all depends on the acoustics of your car.
it's going in a Mazda Tribute which is a small suv. It's pretty much a Ford Escape
-
your not gonna be a GP'er with 2 15's or 18's.
impossible to tell you what will "hit" lower
damn man, ur always helping me.. thanks. What setup would you go with if you had a small SUV?
-
Which setup would hit the lows harder? I'm looking for a "ground pounder."
1) Two 15" fully loaded Fi BTLs in a 9.5 cubic foot enclosure tuned to about 32Hz with one Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bd per sub (wired down to 1 ohm)
2) Two 18" fully loaded Fi BTLs in a 10 cubic foot enclosure tuned to about 32Hz with one Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bd per sub (wired down to one ohm)
------------------------------------------------
I know the 18s would have more cone area; but the 15s are in a better sized enclosure because the reccomended size for the 15 is 3-5 cubic feet while for the 18, it's 5-10 cubes.
-
I only like about three of his songs but the songs I do like are really good
-
If you have 5cubes for each BTL, then why not get the 4 Q's and put them in a 10cu ft enclosure?
I think The 12's in a 10cu ft enclosure would be louder then the 18's in a 10cu ft enclosure.
The q's would get optimum airspace and the BTL would be in the smallest box.
EDIT:JZeff, you have quite a big sig, couldn't you make it smaller pls?
Isn't the extra power suppossed to make up for the small enclosure? Would it sound similar to two btls in 7 cubes with 2000 watts?
-
In imho the 4 q's. More motor force. Plus I wouldn't put them BTL's in that small of a box with that little power. Go more like 7cubes per.
How about if I gave each BTL a Fosgate T2500-1bd? Which would hit lower

Someone gotta know. Steve can't be the only person who's done this type of port
