  1. SlappinF150 has offered to help my out of date ass with the build, there will be a log for sure. :drink40:

    My stuff from 99 isn't bad, I mean 1700'ish watts to 3 12W6's sealed hits pretty hard (not crazy like this will but still). I was running 4 12's, but I just blew one last night (hopefully just a lead smacking around) so the 3 W6's are going back in later.

    I actually I need D1600's I guess because the XXX-4000's need 16v. Otherwise they only kick out 3300.

    check out audioque. The 3500.1d puts out 4300 at 14.4 volts. Upgrading ur electrical to 16 volts would be expensive and extremely complicated, especially for a daily driver because most of the components aren't good for 17-18volts

  2. So, looking on sonic electronix, I'm pretty much down to these speakers.

    Alpine Type-R 5x7:

    Rockford Fosgate Power T1682 6x8:

    I need to make a purchase FAST. Which one of the two would you buy? Or quickly recommend another speaker with a short explanation of why?

    The Alpines are rated for 20 more watts, but the Fosgates are bigger. Id make the decision based on what amp u have.

  3. 4 12's is 572 and 2 18's are 508...

    the reason i wanted to do the 12's is because im impatient and dont wanna wait for the 18 to start produstion lol

    The cone area of 4 12s is 452

    Area=(π r^2)4

    Area=(π 6^2)4

    Area= (π 36)4

    Area= (113)4

    Area= 452

  4. Man, to be a horrible bastard... this thread is giving me that massive "OP is about 15 years old and is dreaming out loud on a forum" vibe... anyone else getting it?

    Haha..I kinda got that feeling half way into the thread; but I wanted to be nice and help

  5. I guess I never really thought about that since I was told its hard to run 2 amps at the same time. But thats not a bad idea, what is there for that power?

    Rockford fosgate t2500-1bd

    edit: nvm, that's about 3k

  6. Whole system subs, amp, wiring, electrical upgrades. I'm expecting about 700 for subs unless I can find a different amp. Anyone know of an amp that does about 4,500 rms? I'm thinking the AudioQue but is there any better/cheaper amp that does the same power?

    Audioque is really as cheap as you can get while still retaining quality and true power

  7. so since i have 2 1 farad RF caps i ask this, will it be beneficial to my stock electrical system to run 2 caps? is this even possible in a beneficial way? if so how?

    these are my caps (currently using 1 and the other is still in the package)

    It wouldnt be benficial if you had 1000 caps. Get a battery!

  8. was just saying that you could use cat5, 5/0, hell you could use rca's if you tried hard enough. Instead of saying 5/0 to wire coils together, which is a little off the deep end, you could have had some courtesy and said "to wire with just bare wire use 10AWG, or to wire with bolts use whatever you want." after all we are here to help each other and represent DC audio in a positive manner. :drinks:

    Sorry, I just reread my first post and I see how it could have been interpreted differently. I didn't mean to be rude, I was just using 5/0 as an example

  9. Ok I will begin on this as soon as the funds become available. Let me get this straight so I can start writing it all out. Here's what I'm going to have to purchase withing the next few weeks:

    1000 watt amp

    another 12"

    4 gauge wiring kit (power, ground, inline fuse, etc)

    Distribution block

    Y-splitter for RCAs

    Is there anything I'm missing? I'm thinking about running the remote turn on wire from one amp to the other, would this be an issue? And can I use any gauge wire for that? You have no idea how much this is clearing up for me. I appreciate everyone's help!

    Yep that's it besides the parts for your custom enclosure. You shouldn't have any wiring issues and you could use almost any size wire; I don't reccommend smaller than 18 gauge. I would probably use 14 or 16 because it's for two amps.

  10. Well that sucks....not sure what I'm going to do about that then. Will I have to run 2 sets of power/ground from the batter/frame? My brand of wire is KnuKoncepts. It's true 4 gauge.

    Oh yeah, Knu is true. They don't mess around. Yes, you would have two runs of 4 gauge unless you have 1/0 running from the battery near the amps into a distribution block with 4 gauge coming out.

  11. Ahh I see. So I couldn't use the distribution block for the RCA cable? And yes, I have each driver in their own enclosure. Takes longer and doesn't look as good but sounds fantastic. As of now all I would have to do is wire for another amp and build another enclosure for the other 12. Oh and what gauge wire would you recommend for the power and ground? I'm running 4 gauge at the moment.

    No, you cant use the distribution block for the RCAs. You should be fine with the 4 gauge wire if it is true 4 gauge. What's the brand of the wire?

  12. 1) A y splitter is pretty much your only option for splitting the signal.

    2) For splitting the remote turn on you can use a distribution block, relay or run the wire to the original amp and run another wire from the original amps turn on to the second amps turn on.

    3) I think that setup would sound pretty nice. I would give each sub their own chamber though

    4) I would do the Big 3 and get a battery

  13. I am well aware that I can use cat5 as speaker wire, but that doesn't answer the question: I need to fit (2) wires in one terminal, and I would like to use the thickest possible.

    Thanks Navi!! I'll grab some 10G tomorrow

    No one mentioned cat5 in this thread, although it works. Also, this does answer your question, your original question atleast because it wasn't specific.
