Ok so is there a program I can use to 'see' the response that a box like this would make? And would it make sense to design a larger port to lower my tuning while sacrificing some air volume?
-
If I were to buy a DC sub, I would PM either Chode69, CJ18, Killallblue, or dwright27. Theyre all cool guys and legitimate DC dealers
this
I just bought through chode69...good guy!

is there an efficient way that i could split the port to both sides of the magnet to tune it lower?
-
try 18"W, 5.25"H, & 23"D
cant go any deeper cuz of the sub magnet
-
The height to width ratio does make a little difference. The more square the port is, the shorter it can be for the same tuning.
alright. ive been messing with this thing for hours lol.
do you guys have any opinions on how i could tune this lower given the fact that i cant make the port any higher because of the sub basket or deeper because of the sub magnet and the fact that thats the max airspace i can have
-
so what exactly is port area then?? im missing something cuz i though port volume and area are the same???
cuz i tried making it shorter and wider and this is what happened..
-
id keep about the same port area but make the port shorter & wider.
well i tried doing that but the tuning rose to like 38.xx ...? why is that?
-
yep they do...ive got one on the way!
-
so ive got this, and i know the box dimesions are not what the sketchup shows, but the airspace is correct.
my concern is, will the sub magnet being so close to the port be bad? because if i shorten the port, it only raises the tuning.
and i have heard that using aeroports is more efficient but this is a budget build so id prefer to stick with the slot (free) ports.
and this is the biggest box that can fit in the trunk with the box still being removable.
Any input would definitely be appreciated

Thanks for the info...got ahold of the guy that is selling it and its just the standard level 3 coil....Paid for it and its on the way! now to design a ported box to fit in the trunk of a 1999 nissan maxima and still be removable
and decide what amp to run on it with just a stock electrical with exception of the big 3 upgrade...hmmmm

im pretty sure the lvl 3 18s came with lvl 4 vc & an extra spider.
Really? That would be cool. Can anyone else confirm this? I'm thinking of putting a hifonics brutus 1200 on it and behaving with the gain

Nick I sent you a couple pics. Feel free to post them
Thor
Thanks
just got to get nick to post the pics lol
-
right. anyone know where i can get specs on it so i can design a box?
-
You can special order them IIRC.
yes you can
i think i saw that 18"
seems to be a good deal
yeah i think im going to go ahead and pick it up! is it the same level 3 motor assembly? should i still expect 600wrms?
-
got a guy on caraudio.com that has a level 3 18" up for sale. anyone know the scoop on these? are they just discontinued or has it just been reconed? what do you guys think? im interested in getting this for my buddys build
-
What causes this? Mine have done the same? Is it box design or too much power or clip?
tuned in to find out the answer
-
wow this is so hawt
-
Bump...anyone? im interested and cant find a pic anywhere. and does anyone have any opinions on them as in pros or cons??
